White Hole - S4-E4

Question: In this episode, Rimmer says how the Eskimos had the right idea by taking the sick and old out into the snow, and then leaving them to it. Then he says 'that's why there is no Eskimo word for Eastbourne'. I don't get the joke. What does he mean?

Answer: Eastborne is a coastal resort town in Sussex in southern England. A lot of people go to live there after they retire, hence the joke.

Question: When the people are on the boat ride, can anyone tell me what the things in the pictures on the walls are?

Answer: I don't know every detail but I do know that there is a spider, a chicken being beheaded, Wonka's rival Slugworth, an eyeball, a giant centipede crawling across a man's face, and a chameleon eating a bug.

Question: Does Rogue have a crush on Logan because Bobby seems awfully jealous at times?

Answer: She certainly feels close to him, because he looked after her during the events of the first film. It never really comes across as a full-blown crush - Rogue's old enough to know better - but it's enough to worry Bobby. Given that there's only supposed to be about a month between the two films, Bobby and Rogue's relationship is in the very early stages, so it's quite normal to worry about such things.

Question: So how exactly did Neo defeat Smith? The only possibility I can think of is that since Neo is connected to the Deus Ex Machina, he gets infected with Smith and then the Machine God can destroy the program in Neo thus causing a chain reaction. So am I right?

Answer: You are right. In "Reloaded" the Oracle tells Neo that when programs face deletion they either go to the source to be recycled back into the matrix code, or go into exile. Smith went into exile but effectively "returned to the source" when he infected Neo, who was connected directly to the source.

Nick N.

Answer: Actually, the one in TOW the Prom Video is Tim Bohn. Markus Flanagan is solely Robert.

Question: If the janitor is Brian's dad who is the guy that picks him up at the end because he looks a bit like him?

Answer: The janitor isn't Brian's dad, Bender just asked if his dad worked there to make fun of Brian because the janitor knew him.

princesskelli

Answer: Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. She and her navigator (Fred Noonan) were lost July 2, 1937, en route from Lae, New Guinea to Howland Island - the plane was never found.

Garlonuss

Question: I know that some aspects of the movie were altered from the source materials because of copyright issues and various other reasons (i.e. having Skinner as the Invisible Man instead of Griffith.) Were there any such reasons given for changing the nature of Dorian's portrait from Wilde's novel, or was that just altered to make his death scene more "dramatic?"

Answer: I haven't read this book of Wilde, but I think alterations were prompted not by copyright issues but because this conveniences the "league" storyline.

Show generally

Question: What exactly is the nature of the relationship between Catherine and Grissom? I know they're good friends but what else? Did they date, go to school together, etc?

Answer: Grissom recruited Catherine when she was still stripping and going to college. He was a field services officer at the time. There hasn't been any relationship except as friends.

Question: There is a trailer out that ends with a girl knocking on a door and saying "housekeeping," and the door flies open and there is a big shrieking noise. Then as the door slams shut the girl says, "I'll come back later." Has anyone any idea of what part in the books this is?

Answer: That scene is not in the book.

Question: When Norrington and his crew successfully win back their ship from the pirates when the curse is lifted, the soldiers begin to chant something. What are they chanting and what does it mean?

Answer: They're shouting "huzzah", which was a traditional sailor's cheer. The modern-day cheers "hurrah" and "hooray" derived from this word.

Show generally

Question: Even though the Simpson's home state is a mystery, in the episode where Homer gets kidnapped in Brazil, Lisa says that if you look at the clues, you can figure it out. Has anyone tried to look at all the clues and figured it out? My theory is that the Simpson's home state is Oregon (where Matt Groening grew up). There was even an episode where Homer joins the Navy and it shows a plotted map of USA where Homer sails off from the west coast of America (either Oregon or northern California). Has anyone else came up with this conclusion or have totally different conclusions?

Answer: This is an age old battle that has been going on since the show's debut. People give supporting arguments for almost every state, and some say that it's made up. According to Matt Groening, Springfield is not based on any Springfield in the USA (Even though there are over 150 of em), he says it is based on Portland Oregon, his home town. http://www.roundspringfield.com/?section=usual&page=faq#1.

Question: Can anyone tell what brand the black and white hat that Will Smith is wearing when they are waiting for the Dixie 7?

Answer: A german movie magazine wrote that this hat has no brand. It was made especially for the movie by the costume designer. The label on it is merely blank. A reader asked the same question at the magazine's forum.

Question: Why does Rogue get that blonde-white streak in her hair at the end? I've never read the comic books, so if the answer's there, I wouldn't know.

Answer: It's from the stress of powering Magneto's device.

J I Cohen

Answer: In the comics the explanation is different. In the movie it's because Magneto channeled his powers through her, since they held on very long she didn't only take over his powers but eventually his physical appearance as well, his silver hair.

lionhead

Answer: In the comic books, Rogue could fly and was impervious to bullets. She got those abilities from another mutant, but she accidentally drained too much and received a permanent fix. That is what gave her the grey streak in her hair and put the other mutant in a coma.

Blind Date - S1-E21

Question: In this episode they're trying to decrypt some files, and Cordelia phones Willow. She hears that they've been trying to decrypt computer files all day too - does this correspond to a specific episode of Buffy?

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: It corresponds to 'The Yoko Factor' (4-20), though Willow never mentions that Cordelia calls.

MoonFaery

Chosen answer: "Five By Five" is a term originally used in radio communication to indicate that the signal is good, and is now occasionally used to indicate that things in general are okay.

Answer: Drummer: "what are you doing?" Anna/Tess: "I don't know, it's not working." Drummer: "Just do it".

Question: Is a third X-men already being/been made? When will it be released?

Amie

Answer: 10 Things I Hate About You is a play on the title of the Shakespeare play Taming of the Shrew. This movie is a modern re-telling of that play. Unlike DiCaprio's version of Romeo + Juliet, this movie doesn't use the original dialogue from Shakespeare. The premises are the same.

Answer: She only says "I Hate" 10 times. Some of those she says more than one thing that bugs her, but written in list form it appears as 10 things.

Shay

Answer: Actually, one of the screenwriters had been looking through her old high school journals for inspiration, when she found a list titled "things I hate about Anthony" (her ex boyfriend). She showed it to the director and he decided to make it the title, also the reason that they wrote the iconic poem for Kat.
