Answer: I just Shazammed the music. It is a Jazz piece called "West Side Blues" by John Cameron. A search in IMDb corroborated this.

Nauticalisimo

Chosen answer: The composer of nearly all the melodies that are heard in the show is Jonathan Wolff. As far as the name of the the melody; little interludes such as this are rarely named because they are not complete songs, just intro's or outtro's that are written to help move the action of the show along.

The One With The Lesbian Wedding - S2-E11

Question: Slightly more wide-ranging a question than just Friends, but it's relevant at the moment. With Massachusetts being in the news for offering same-sex weddings, and apparently being the first state to fully sanction it, was the wedding in this episode (back in the mid '90s) based on any then-current law, or just made up for the purposes of the plot?

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: Same-sex weddings have been performed for quite some time in the United States. They simply didn't have the sanction of law or the benefits (and costs) that come with it. The ceremonies were purely for the sake of the supporting friends and family of the couple making the commitment.

Question: When Will is discovered by the professor, he is solving a math problem using what appear to be stick figures. Is there a branch of mathematics that deals with these stick figures?

Answer: I looked at it and it seems to be a graph-theoretical problem. Graph theory is a branch of mathematics dealing with figures that look like stick figures (which can be interpreted for example as streets connecting cities, and one tries to find the shortest way from one city to another). The exact problem is to give all the possible unique trees with 10 points, without redundant connections.

Question: How exactly did the chief justice taking "the long walk" help to keep the Janus project secret? They were worried Dredd's conviction would cause the media to dig, but he was convicted of murder regardless of his execution. Wouldn't the chief justice retiring over it make the media even MORE eager to dig?

Answer: It is explained in the movie that he takes the long walk to spare Judge Dredd's life. When he takes the long walk he gets a final wish. His was to spare Dredd. Therefore the meaning of his Long walk was for that. There was no mention of the Cheif resigning helping to cover up the Janus project though.

Question: Why would they try to combine both The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned into one movie? They twisted the story line and left out some key characters and elements. What did Anne Rice think about this?

Answer: She disowned the movie completely. The situation was that if no movie had been made from her books by a particular date, then the rights would revert back to Anne Rice herself. In order to forestall this, Warner Brothers threw something together using the bits that they liked from two different books. The result was functional, barely, but was hardly a worthy companion to the books.

Tailkinker

Question: Where are Baboo, Squat and Finster?

Answer: They weren't even considered to appear in the movie considering there were so many other changes (different suits, new Command Centre etc). Also the movie has been widely accepted as out of continuity with the TV show, so their disappearance doesn't really mean much.

Answer: DOA is an acronym meaning "Dead On Arrival". It is usually used in a military or medical context. However, in this case, it means there is no sex being had.

Question: When Jack and Rose make love in the car, why doesn't she get pregnant? There's no apparent sign that Jack had condoms and I doubt he could afford them.

Answer: Women don't automatically become pregnant every time they have sex - the conception time window is actually relatively small, which is why some couples try for years before successfully conceiving.

Tailkinker

In addition to your answer, I want to point out that condoms are not the only way to prevent pregnancy. The person who asked the question seems to think that Rose should have got pregnant without condoms. Withdrawal has long been a popular method (it's mentioned in Bible - Genesis 38:9), although it's not totally reliable.

Answer: Even if she had been ovulating and the egg had been fertilised, the stress of that night - which would have taken weeks for her body to recover from, would likely have temporarily disrupted her reproductive functioning, making it impossible for the fertilised egg to establish itself. That being said, there was a real-life, starstruck, unmarried couple on Titanic (though they were engaged to be married upon docking, with no rival suitors or pushy families). The man died and the woman survived. She gave birth exactly nine months after the sinking, meaning they possibly made secret, out-of-wedlock love on the ship.

Question: Does anybody know the name of the theme that was playing at the last part of the trailer?

Answer: That is Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story composed by Randy Edelman.

Question: Does anyone know what that cave thing is that Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are resting in at the beginning of the movie is?

Answer: There are plenty of ruins throughout Middle-Earth, and the area known as Ithilien, where Frodo and co are at that point, is no exception. Once a populous region, it has been deserted for around 1000 years, since the fall of Minas Ithil (now Minas Morgul) and the return of the Nazgul. What Frodo and Sam are resting is no doubt some ruined structure left over from Ithilien's populated days.

Question: Was Neo ever really The One? In the first film, Morpheus stated that the prophecy said The One would destroy the Matrix, and and all humans would be free; but Neo never destroyed the Matrix. So was he The One, and changed 'fate'; or was he not the true One, but just really powerful?

Answer: Neo was the One. Prophecy is not always 100% correct on all the details. And he did destroy the illusion of the Matrix and granted freedom to those who desired it. So he did end up fulfilling the prophecy in a way. It's much like Anakin Skywalker bringing "balance to the force" by annhilating the Jedi and allowing a new order to spring forth. Not exactly what you would expect.

Grumpy Scot

Question: In one of the Special Features on the DVD, it shows Sofia Coppola and the rest of the cast and crew fulfilling a pre-filming tradition of holding hands and saying a word that sounds like 'puaba' three times. Can anyone tell me what this word means and why it is a tradition in Sofia Coppola's family?

Answer: I believe that it means something like "good luck", as she hoped the production goes as smoothly as possible.

Answer: I believe the word, pùaba, comes from Corsican. It means "I did." Not sure if this is correct, but Corsica is near Italy and France, and she's Italian? Closest match I could find.

Question: I just wondered if the footage of people greeting their loved ones at the Heathrow arrival gate was real or done by actors?

Answer: It was real. Per the commentary, they set up a hidden camera, and when they got footage they liked, they approached the family to sign release papers.

Jack's Revenge

Question: What was Tobey Maguire's full process to get Spider-man's body? What was his body and fighting training and food diets? Is there any website where they have it in full writing?

Answer: The following is taken directly from People Magazine May 27, 2002: WORKOUT: Maguire exercised for at least 3.5 hours, six days a week, with his regimen varying "depending on how sore he felt," says Joujon-Roche. Mornings were spent improving his flexibility with yoga and splits, along with building strength through abdominal and lower-body exercises on an oversize ball. "We would just work on each body part until we killed it," Joujon-Roche says. "Then the next day we'd go to another and kill that one." Afternoons were devoted to cardiovascular activities like martial arts and cycling, to burn fat, plus gymnastics. "Tobey did his own flips with that Spider-Man hood on," says Joujon-Roche. "We gave him self-assuredness." DIET: For breakfast Joujon-Roche made the actor, a vegetarian, a "high-protein shake that included nuts, essential oils and vitamins." Lunch, he says, was often "marinated tofu with broccoli and walnuts and dinner a big veggie burger with brown rice." The menu varied with Maguire's output. "If his workout was pure weights," says Joujon-Roche, "he needed protein. If he did cardio, he'd have a shake of all carbs."

Question: At the end, when the credits are rolling, what is the name of the song being played?

Dr Wilson

Question: Is it ever specified in this movie or in any of the books or biographies written about the Blues Brothers exactly where, when or how Jake dies?

rabid anarchist

Question: Ben Affleck first met Uma Thurman at a party just before he was offered and accepted the three year job. Surely he would have recognized her after having his memory wiped even if he could not remember any of the time they spent together.

Answer: He does recognize Rachel from the party as well as when he when he saw her at Allcom. The only things he doesn't remember are the last three years of his life since starting the project. So, while he does remember her, the three years they spent together while at Allcom are a total blank. This recognition is shown when he meets with Porter who helps him escape.

But later, when he is going through her stuff, he says he doesn't remember her. Also, if he did remember her, he would have known it wasn't her when the imposter was in the restaurant (also no need to have the imposter try to dress like her either).

Answer: Do you remember every person you've ever talked to at a party? Didn't think so. His memory isn't restored back to perfect condition - he's still had three years to forget about details at the party. He remembers things like the origins of the deal because it was important.
