Detox - S1-E11

Question: Why wasn't the naphthalene poisoning noticed when tests were run? It's easily detectable through blood tests, and scans.

Grandpa Jack - S9-E4

Question: This is a question without a knowable answer. But I wonder if anyone has thoughts as to why we hear nothing of Elliot's mother? Jack and Elliot are estranged. Elliot's mother, Bonnie (originally played by Rosie O'Donnell), acknowledged to Jack that she is a lesbian in the original run of the series. So, when Elliot marries a conservative woman, moves to Texas, and makes plans to send his gay son to a gay conversion camp, where is Bonnie in all of this?

Children of the Gods (1) - S1-E1

Question: I thought that you could only travel one way through the gate, but in the pilot, the Bad Guys come through, kill the military guys, then go back though without dialing a new wormhole.

Answer: You can only travel that way. The wormhole closed after Apophis forces came through (as can be seen during various scenes). Probably they also brought a mobile version of a DHD got get back (this indeed can't be seen).

Christoph Galuschka

They have been various times where the stargate has been dialled without use of the DHD of the dialing computer.

Question: When SG-1 travels to alien planets they always experience earth like gravity. Shouldn't they be experiencing different gravity on different planets?

Answer: Basically, if a planet has the same mass and size, it will have the same gravity. Since the Stargates were placed on habitable planets, it's likely they placed them on planets with the same gravity. Even if the planet's varied in mass or size, a planet's gravity in relations to Earth can be calculated as m/r^2where m is the planet's mass compared to Earth's mass and r2 is the planet's radius (compared to Earth's) squared. So if a planet had 50% the mass and 70% radius of Earth, gravity would be 0.5/0.7^2 which would be 1.02 times the gravity of Earth (or roughly the same).

Answer: Goldilock zone.

What does this answer have to do with the question?

Nothing, just someone trying to be clever.

Answer: It's a joke about how Rita's so old the number on her bracelet wasn't a 7-digit number. In the early 20th century to place a call you could call "Central" and tell the operator "Murray Hill 4185" and she would connect you. Rita is telling Brian to call the operator (dial "0") and read "Murray Hill 4185" to Sarah, the operator.

Question: Why does Kylo Ren want to finish what Vader started? Why couldn't he just leave things the way they were? Why would he turn to the dark side just to finish what Vader started?

Answer: We don't know the reasoning behind Kylo Ren's motives just yet, but that will likely be gradually answered as the story unfolds in the upcoming sequels. Knowing too much about Kylo's backstory and his underlying motive early on would ruin the plot and eliminate any suspense leading up to the reveal.

Question: Why, when Cornell walks out on the attorney General, did they not arrest him for assassination of the archbishop?

Answer: They had a 'first person' witness to conspiracy to kidnap.

Answer: Maybe the crime was committed outside the United States, and they simply didn't have the jurisdiction to charge him.

Question: What happened to the people who disappeared? Did they die?

Answer: Yes, the passengers who were awake through the time rift were killed instantly, including Nick Hopewell on the return trip.

Danny Duignan

Hey you can't really assume anything with a film like this and with a storyline being so mysterious and suspenseful. I think it is left up to one's imagination where the passengers disappeared too. Personally I think or would like to believe they all survived but in another dimension probarly in the 4 or 5th dimension like with the Bermuda triangle which is very similar to the movie in relation to people disappearing without a trace.

Actually, since items like pacemakers were left behind it's safe to assume at least some of the missing passengers are dead.

I assume that since some passengers who disappeared left behind their pacemakers, they probably died.

Answer: No, they didn't die. The premise of the story is that the sleeping plane passengers were in an alternate timeline a few minutes out-of-sync with normal time; so, when they awoke, they were aware of a dead zone in the immediate past. Everyone else in the world is still alive in the present. The "Langoliers" were interdimensional creatures that fed on the past, gobbling it up like a stage-cleaning crew.

Question: Who voices the ring in this movie?

Answer: The Prime Minister was set to have important talks with Xiang Ping, the Chinese Premier. It is stated in the MI7 briefing scene, by the Prime Minister, that Southeast Asia have begun developing nuclear weapons and they need to convince Xiang Ping to get onside and to try and defuse the situation and improve the relations between the two countries. It is revealed in the scene where Ambrose retrieves the drug from the bank vault, that a man was paying Ambrose 500 million US dollars to assassinate Xiang Ping, presumably to make sure the talks will damage the relations between Britain and China.

Question: Why was this film banned in Egypt for portraying "Fagin" too sympathetically?

Answer: Fagin was a Jewish character and in the 1930's and 40's Egypt did not like Jewish people. Egypt was heavily anti-Semitic; Jews were denied citizenship, Egypt was part of the Arab League during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, and bombing of Jewish areas in Egypt would occur. It was banned simply out of hate.

Bishop73

Answer: Mitch is upset that his dad doesn't seem to support his getting married. When they talk about Jay's friends not coming to the wedding, Jay makes it seem like Mitch wouldn't want them to come anyways. Mitch sees it as it's actually that Jay doesn't want to invite his friends to his gay son's wedding because he's embarrassed and uncomfortable about having a gay son. Essentially Mitch sees it as if he was marrying a woman, Jay would be willing so spend money on the wedding, host it at the club, and invite all his friends to it.

Bishop73

Answer: He's never seen again after Johnny takes his wheelchair. The church they were in was covered with MI7 agents, so it is plausible that one of them found him whilst the others were chasing Johnny.

Question: Nintendo has always held Donkey Kong's rights, while Rareware created most of DK's games. Even after Microsoft bought Rare from Nintendo, Donkey Kong's Rare games were shown in some videos of Rare's headquarters. So, how exactly did Microsoft purchase Rare?

Question: In one of the episodes, Richie, while in basic training, tells Fonz how he put his friends and his platoon on report causing both his platoon and Fonz to be angry at him. Why would they react in a way? Richie's platoon was being insubordinate from the start and Fonz wasn't even in the army.

Answer: Whether he was right or wrong, the Fonz's belief is that you don't tell on your friends, even if they've broken rules or misbehaved. The platoon wrongly thought Richie would cover for them, no matter what they did. Richie felt differently, believing that it was his responsibility to be honest and report any wrongdoing rather than cover it up to protect his peers.

Question: Why didn't the US Navy want the pirates to get Phillips to Somalia? What were they afraid would happen?

Answer: They are afraid that once in Somalia, the pirates would be able to hide Phillips making rescue much more difficult.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: He didn't. Simon Ambrose, who was the real mole, tricked Johnny English into thinking Patch was a traitor.

Question: Right before Manolo died, Maria's father and Joaquin blamed Manolo for Maria's supposed death. When Manolo comes back to the living, why aren't they still angry with him?

Answer: Well for one, she isn't dead. No reason to be upset with him over something that didn't actually occur. And secondly, they are on the middle of a fight, better to have all the help they can get.

MasterOfAll

Question: Why wouldn't Nichols just alert authorities right away if he was behind this whole thing the whole time? Made no sense. Good plot twist, but in real life, you would think the mastermind would get Kimball tossed in jail ASAP to avoid being revealed like he was.

Israel Joffe

Answer: One, the authorities are already on Kimball's trail, literally one step behind him the entire film, so Nichols wouldn't gain much by alerting them. Two, he knows that if Kimball finds out he (Nichols) alerted the police, it would pretty much prove to Kimball that Nichols was the one behind everything; safer for Nichols to appear innocent and, more important, cooperative, so that if and when Kimball is recaptured and tells his story, he has nothing on Nichols to tell the authorities. This backfires, of course, but it is the most logical course of action.
