Question: When the boat is sinking and everyone is in the cage, what does Grant say to Ellie on the satellite phone and how does she know what it means and which island to go to out of the five?
Answer: He says "The River, Site B." Obvisouly there is only one main river on Site B (the island). Ellie was smart enough to figure it out.
But how does she get a US navy battle group to turn up? Previously the US embassy wouldn't send anyone for a missing child, but a fleet for an old man off a very garbled phone call? As far as I remember, she had a fairly ordinary job/life in a suburb of the America.
Ellie's husband is Mark Degler, who works at the State Department, and it's with his connections that the rescue gets underway. Early in the movie Ellie told Grant he's bad about asking for help, and he should ask her anything anytime. Near the end, before their phone line was cut off, Ellie had heard the dinosaur roar and screams, so she knew Grant was in trouble.
I think it has something to do with what her husband does for a living.
Answer: Ellie's husband is in treaties and diplomatic relations and would be able to get a rescue group sent.
Question: Do any elves (obviously apart from Legolas) survive the battle for Helm's Deep?
Answer: During the ride forth, there's what appears to be another elf in the group, only really visible in the shot on the causeway - originally, this was Arwen, but there's been some work done to alter her - still looks like an elf, though. Other than that, it's not specifically shown, but there were certainly other survivors who remained behind, presumably to hold off the Uruk-Hai while the woman and children escaped into the mountains. It seems very likely that there would have been some elves among that number.
Question: One of the mistakes lists that when Rose and Jack are running away from the water below decks, you can see the real faces of the stunt doubles they used. I have tried to find any differences in their faces but I cannot find it. How can you tell they are stunt doubles?
Answer: It is not the faces of the stunt doubles, but the faces of the actors superimposed. It is very obvious when Rose is running in slow motion toward the camera with Jack behind her. The water is rising, and the lights are flickering. Her face is very pale, almost transparent, and seems "big" for her head. Also, the bobbing movements of her head don't exactly match that of the filming of the stunt double, which indicates the effects team did the best they could with Kate Winslet's face superimposed onto a different female with a different head shape.
Question: Who becomes the Enterprise's new first officer since Data's death? I know about the deleted scene which shows a new first officer meeting Picard, but since it was deleted I assume it never actually happened. The only person I can think of is Worf but does anyone know for sure?
Answer: It's unknown, and, with no TNG films on the horizon, will most likely remain that way for some time. Without information to the contrary, it's probably reasonable to assume that, despite the scene being deleted, Commander Martin Madden (the new first officer seen in that scene) does indeed take the position.
Question: On the 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD, why does the widescreen disc have 22 chapters, while the full screen disc only has 8?
Answer: With eight chapters you can't always find the precise moment of the movie, though with 22 chapters you can find the moment you wish to view easier without having to chose the closest chapter and wait 5-10 minutes. More and more new DVDs have a high number of chapters.
Question: On maps for middle earth, what is beyond the right edge of the paper? Is it land, and if so, why aren't the places mentioned? If it's water, then where does it go?
Answer: Middle-Earth extends into the east for a considerable distance. The Easterlings live there, often referred to as Men of Darkness, who fought for both Dark Lords in their times. As such, most people chose not to go there, so it's rarely discussed in the chronicles of the Western lands. Even the well-travelled Gandalf never entered those lands, although Saruman did, along with two of the other wizards (who ultimately remained there). Aragorn visited briefly, and Sauron used the lands as a refuge for some centuries. The elves originated in the East, and it's likely that some still live there, as do four of the seven dwarven tribes.
Question: Does someone know of any website that lists which songs play in each scene? Even though I have the soundtrack, it's hard sometimes to tell which song is played when -not to mention the many non-OST songs in the film...
Answer: Il Tramonto (#3) - It plays when the Bride is walking the church and goes outside, were she finds Bill. Tu mirá (#5) - It plays when the Bride is going to the bar to talk with the man that knows where Bill is. Summertime Killer (#6) - It plays when the Bride enters Bill's room and finds her daughter. The Chase (#7) - It plays when Elle Driver first appears, driving her car, on the begginig of the chapter "Elle and I". L'Arena (#8) - It plays when the Bride starts to punch open the coffin. A Silhouette of Doom (#9) - It plays on the beginning of the movie, when we have a flashback of Bill. A Satisfied Mind (#10) - It plays when Budd is at home, waiting for the Bride. About Her (#11) - It plays when the Bride is with her daughter, on the room, watching something on the TV. Malaguena Salerosa (#14) - It plays on the last scene of the movie, where we see the Bride on the bathroom floor and then in the bed, with her daughter.
Question: When Peter is saving the child from the burning building, he attempts to leap the gap which appears, but does not make it. Why can't he still use his Spidey powers to leap the gap or web sling his way over it? We have seen how his powers have become inconsistent, but not non-exsistent.
Answer: He hadn't gotten his confidence back. Plus with all the fire and smoke aroung he would have found it difficult to concentrate. He had enough trouble concentrating in the alleyway let alone a burning building.
The Great Snail Race / Mid-Life Crustacean - S3-E15
Question: In "The Great Snail Race," I never understood what made Sandy feel like kicking Spongebob's butt.
Answer: He says something about her earlier that was insulting even though she wasn't there. She says something along the lines of "having a feeling she should kick his butt". Later she shows up to kick his butt, though we don't find out how she knows for sure. It's a joke based on the "feeling" you get sometimes when you know someone is thinking/talking about you.
Question: Which actual part of "Hiawatha's song" does Peter Parker try to recite to MJ?
Answer: It's "Song of Hiawatha", Chapter II - The Four Winds, almost to the end, starting with "In his life he had one shadow..."
Question: When Puss in Boots is brandishing his sword at Shrek for the first time I keep thinking Donkey's line about Puss having a piece is supposed to be a reference to some gangster film. Problem is I can't remember any where this particular line (or something similar) pops up so which is it?
Answer: This isn't really based on any one gangster film, but all gangster movies. The Mafia (at least in films) refer to a gun as a piece, so the joke is that the sword is the medieval equivalent.
Question: I've been reading a lot of spoilers of what will be in the Special Edition release. However one thing from the theatrical trailer which I've found nothing about is the shot of Pippin holding a weeping Merry. I was hoping SE spoilers would help me figure out where this shot belongs but I've had no luck. At first I thought it was Pelennor, but since Pippin is wearing his helmet it can't be then. Then I thought it was Cornmallen after the Ring has been destroyed and they seem to think Frodo is dead, but that doesn't add up either since people are fighting behind them. Does anyone know where this shot is from? I really want to know, I love this shot since it's a reverse from the shot in FotR where Merry held a weeping Pippin.
Answer: I've been through the theatrical trailers for this film, but I can't actually find the shot you're referring to. Logically, though, it has to either be at the Pelennor Fields or at the Morannon. If there are people visible fighting behind them, that seems to rule out the Pelennor Fields, as Merry and Pippin aren't reunited until some time after the fighting has ended, so the battle at the Black Gate seems like the only option. The flow of events there will change in the Extended Edition - the Mouth of Sauron sequence will be going in there, for example - so the reason for continued fighting in the shot may become clear.
Question: Were the MS-5 faces modeled after an actual person?
Answer: They all look vaguely like Alan Tudyk to me, who did the voice of Sonny.
Question: If the killer was Adam wanting revenge for the dance, why did he kill Campbell and the other woman we see him drag through the door, who I assume is Dorothy's step mum? But if Dorothy is the killer, why kill her boyfriend?
Answer: I think that the corpse the killer was dragging when Ruthie saw him was the maid.
Maybe Adam made the thing stop working because wanted Dorothy to go down and fix it herself, so he could kill her, but instead obviously without knowing the killer was there Dorothy instead asked Campbell to do it because she didn't know how, or she just simply didn't want to. The killer/Adam might have already been down there waiting for Dorothy but instead seen Campbell but still decided to kill him just because.
Answer: Adam killed Campbell to make sure he wouldn't interfere with his plans. The presence of Campbell's head at the house probably means that he had come by to guard or to snoop. As for Dorothy's stepmother, Adam most likely killed her to both empty the house and to further frame Dorothy as the killer - after all, Adam has no (apparent) reason to kill her, but Dorothy does.
Adam didn't kill her step-mom. That was the maid he was dragging up the stairs. Campbell was killed in the basement when he went to relight the pilot light. The head that Kate found was the detectives head who was coming to help them after telling them they had released the man they thought was the killer.

Answer: Yes it is PK - the characters he plays are Brian, Max, Keith Lard and indeed the voice of the radio. you can hear him on the radio a few times throughout the series.
