Episode #2.2 - S2-E2

Question: Was there prohibition in England? If not, why was Alfie running an underground distillery using a bakery as a cover instead of just having a legit distillery?

Answer: There has never been prohibition in England. There are many reasons for running an underground distillery. It would be a way to avoid things like government regulations, safe distilling methods, alcohol content limits, taxation, fix pricing, and so on.

Question: What is the tattoo on Rick's right hand between his thumb and index finger, and its meaning?

Answer: This small tattoo in the first movie is the Eye of Horus, an ancient Egyptian symbol bringing fortune, protection and good health. Just a good luck charm. It only appeared on Rick's hand in the first movie and was absent in the second movie, "The Mummy Returns." Apparently, the screenwriters wanted to expand the story of the tattoo, so they changed the symbol, its location and its meaning in the second movie: The new tattoo was that of the Medjai (a 3000-year-old cult of Egyptian royal guardians sworn to oppose the evil Imhotep). We learn that Rick got this tattoo when he was an orphan in Cairo. The screenwriters moved the tattoo to Rick's wrist (hidden by his leather wrist band) in the second movie.

Charles Austin Miller

Question: What is the purpose of the leather wrist band Rick wears on his right wrist?

Answer: The wrist band was not explained in this first movie. In the second movie, "The Mummy Returns," we learn that the leather band covers a tattoo of the Medjai, a 3000-year-old cult of Egyptian royal guardians whose purpose was to oppose the evil Imhotep. Rick was given this tattoo (or brand) when he was an orphan in Cairo.

Answer: Leather cuffs were also worn by gunfighters for protection and to stop sweat from running down onto your gun hand. So there's a practical reason for a gunfighter like Rick to have it, plus the all-important "Rule of Cool!"

Answer: The purpose of Rick's leather forearm cuff is protection. It's a common piece of 'armor' worn to protect the wrist and forearm from many kinds of harm. It can be used as a kind of brace or shield. You could block a blow with the back of your forearm and not be injured. Since Rick only wears one on his dominant arm I would guess this is what he mainly wears it for. It's just another piece of functional 'equipment' like his leather holster harness.

Answer: Dusty married Karen. Adrianna is Karen's daughter and the step-daughter of Dusty.

Question: Emerson sells off his toxic assets in time, destroying his career. Why is he the only one that ruins his career?

Answer: He is just the only one shown doing so. Everyone in the "Fire Sale" room, is basically done for and they know it. the company will keep the best of the best (or those critical to the company's ability to function) and lay off the rest.

Question: At the bonfire Sandy says hi to Tom, who says something back to her and then Sandy I think says "fine". What did Tom say to Sandy?

Answer: "How are you?"

Question: Cyrus faked his death to lure his nephew Arthur and his family to his house so Arthur could could sacrifice himself to become the thirteenth ghost. So that means Cyrus must've gone to the extra effort to put prosthetic make-up and fake blood on to make it look like he had his throat cut out. But why? So if Arthur and his family saw him wandering around the house, they'd just think he was another ghost? But by that point they would already be caught in the Rubik's cube of a house, and his plan set in motion, so why would he care if they found he wasn't really dead? Why go to all that extra effort to get made up like a corpse?

Answer: Because the family would have been confused, bewildered, curious and mad as to why did this and would fight or run away. Remember the book said, it needed a willing victim to sacrifice themselves.

Answer: It could simply be that his obsession with ghosts is the reason why he wants to be seen as a ghost by his nephew, as a fetish. Also he wanted to be witness to Arthur's sacrifice and Arthur thinking he was a ghost made it simpler if he was spotted.

Question: Kyle poses at the hijacker and demands Carson to stay on the plane. Why would his cover be potentially blown if he refused?

Answer: Carson has to obey Kyle's demand because others are watching. The others believe Kyle is the hijacker, so Carson has to play along.

Answer: It was less about his cover being blown than Carson needing to stay aboard to try and salvage the situation and possibly kill Kyle. Kyle wanted him on the plane in order to expose his plan and to find her daughter.

Answer: Because she is the one with the magical powers that make the wishes come true so it doesn't affect her.

Bishop73

Answer: She was picking up and putting away the gadgets that were supposed to help them.

Question: Why didn't Elizabeth appear as a skeleton? She had a stolen piece of the treasure around her neck.

Answer: She wasn't the one who stole it from the chest. That's also why Will didn't know that it was cursed gold, even though he had worn it before: he got it as a gift from his father.

Friso94

Answer: The curse only affected those who removed a gold coin from the chest itself. Since she never took it, she wasn't cursed.

Question: How was Annabelle still using her powers behind the door? She led Janice to finding her and freeing her, so even in the blessed room Annabelle can still use her powers?

Question: How are you supposed to ride a motorbike at full throttle in reverse? That is what Art3mis must have done to win the first Quest and to earn her copper key. You can see her bike standing beneath the fountain while she receives the key.

Karlchen

Answer: It's a virtual reality world. Machines can do anything the programmer wants them to.

Answer: In addition, it isn't specifically stated that the vehicle must actually be traveling in reverse. It could be that all she had to do was turn the bike around and drive forward, but the opposite way of the track.

Quantom X

Ironically, even if Halliday stated that he doesn't want to make rules, he also says particularly to go backwards, at full throttle, not forward in the opposite direction. So I will not go with that thought of yours.

That's not exactly what he said or meant. He gave a clue, an idea to break the traditional rules. He wasn't telling people to go backwards as that's how it must be. He was seeding the idea to go against the grain.

Quantom X

Perhaps she turned around on the bike and rode it in backwards?

Answer: It wouldn't take too much in the OASIS to modify a motorcycle so that it could drive backwards to complete the race. Driving it would be difficult though.

Question: What does Elle say when Bud is blending margaritas?

Answer: "So this is a Hatori Hanzo sword." Budd asks her to repeat herself because he didn't hear and she does.

Question: I have an issue with Mike's bird attack and the the true origin of the fear. We are told Mike's watching Rodan and the bird is a reflection of the movie playing on Mike's mind. Then it is hinted that Mike's dad may has seen the same bird at the black spot, so this is where the bird fear comes from, only to be told in one of the chapters later on told from the view of IT that the bird was a reflection of Mike being attacked as a baby by a crow. Which is the true reason for this fear?

Answer: It was from when he was pecked at by a crow when he was a baby.

Question: Throughout the movie, the people in Sokovia speak English with an accent, and a previous correction claimed that the native language was English. So why are there signs all over the place in Russian?

Answer: Sokovia's official language seems to be Serbian (I've seen Ukrainian also listed), the writing seen is in the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet (some places it's the Latin script), which looks similar to Russian. It's possible that English is also an official or unofficial language, this is usually due to a country being ruled or controlled by the British Empire at some point, but for some reason they choose to require signs to be written in Serbian. However, the English we hear may be more of a filming technique for the audiences' convenience. That is to say, they are speaking a foreign language but we hear English (or whatever language you're watching the film in) rather than hearing a foreign language and then either reading subtitles or not know what was said. You see this often in films, such as a WWII movie where the Germans are speaking English even though everything is written in German. Some films are known to switch between filming styles where sometimes characters speak in English and sometimes they speak in a foreign language. And some films or shows will create a universal translator to explain why we hear everything in English (like in Guardians of the Galaxy where Peter has a translator implant in his neck).

Question: How come the Government soldiers didn't tell the whole town Including the sheriff what's going on when they've all been captured?

adamtrainman@aol.com

Answer: Movie governments (and real-life governments) are known to keep things from the public for their own safety, whether it's a good idea or not.

Question: Since the Jedi already knew that Count Dooku is a Sith Lord, did the Jedi ever find out that he is also Darth Tyranus?

DFirst1

Answer: Unlikely as Obi-Wan knew from Jango Fett that he was recruited by a man named Tyranus and with that information they could have known the clone army was ordered by the sith. Its possible after the betrayal that Yoda and Obi-Wan figured it out, but by then it was not much use.

lionhead

It is eventually revealed in the Clone Wars series to Kenobi and Skywalker that Tyranus and Dooku are one and the same. Prior to this, the Jedi had no idea who Tyranus was.

BaconIsMyBFF

But like I said that would mean they knew the clone army was connected to the sith.

lionhead

It most certainly should. That Kenobi never connects the dots is an astounding oversight. I've always felt like it was a writing mistake to have Jango Fett reveal the name Tyranus to Kenobi, as it makes the Jedi, and Kenobi especially, seem incredibly stupid for not putting everything together. The fact that the Clone Wars series makes it clear that Kenobi knows exactly who Tyranus is but the Jedi still trust the clones afterwards is insane. It would have made much more sense to keep the identity of Tyranus a secret to the Jedi.

BaconIsMyBFF

Yep, the Clone Wars series tends to do that a lot.

lionhead

Then why did Obi Wan didn't do anything? Like telling the Jedi order that the Clone army is is a part of the Sith Plan.

DFirst1

I think that's a mistake in the clone wars series, which was made after Episode III was released. In the movies they didn't know.

lionhead

Good point. But I wonder if the Jedi ever wondered about Dooku's Sith name.

DFirst1

Hm I see what you mean. Maybe they didn't think he had one? I think Dooku preferred his real name over his moniker. Since he had power with his name, he still called himself Dooku. Also, his identity as a Sith was a secret for a long time, but even as he was revealed as a Sith he still introduced himself as Dooku.

lionhead

Among the three apprentices of Darth Sidious, Tyranus is the one who ressembles Palpatine the most. They're both mature, noble, political leader who has a secret sith agenda. Both of them hide their Sith Identity.
