Question: Just out of curiosity, but in the scene where the nuns are singing the Holy Mary song, what were they singing in Latin?

Answer: The "Holy Mary song" is formally titled "Hail, Holy Queen" or "Salve Regina." Most of the lyrics in Latin are actually borrowed from another liturgical piece titled "O Sanctissima" and inserted into the musical piece as featured in "Sister Act" as follows: (1) "Salve, salve, salve Regina" is part of the original song and translates to "Hail, hail, hail [holy.] queen." (2) "Mater amata, intemerata (sanctus, sanctus dominus) " translates to "Beloved Mother, undefiled/pure/chaste (holy, holy Lord) " (3) "Virgo, respice, Mater, aspice (sanctus, sanctus dominus) " means "Virgin, watch over us, Mother, care for us (holy, holy Lord) " and (4) "Alleluia, " of course, is simply the Latin variant of the anglicized "Hallelujah". Other notes: "Cherubim" and "Seraphim" are orders of heavenly angels, Seraphim being of a higher order, possessing six wings.

Question: What did Sister Mary Patrick mean when she said "you don't have to bite the donut to know it's sweet"? I believe this was in the scene when she was teaching her class when Deloris was looking for hers.

Answer: Sister Mary Patrick is being challenged by Sondra, one of her students, who says, "you can't answer any questions about... Sex." The sister's reply is, "oh, don't be so sure - you don't have to bite the donut to know it's sweet." She offers this as an analogy, in order to posit that one doesn't have to have engaged in sex acts to know what sex is all about, or that it may be enjoyable even when it isn't necessarily good for you.

Michael Albert

Answer: You don't need to learn about sex to know what it is about.

Question: In the beginning, Thomas wakes up in the Box which is moving up. He discovers an animal in the cage. It looks like a black pig. The pig apparently isn't shown anymore in the rest of the movie. Why the hell is the black pig in the Box?

Bunch

Chosen answer: It is just part of the supplies that is sent up each month, along with a new boy. Everything the maze residents have has been supplied to them. That includes rudimentary tools, vegetable seeds, food, and various other supplies and equipment. The pig is just livestock that will likely be butchered for meat.

Question: Where is the birthday party for Bill held? On whose estate?

Answer: The script calls it the "Parrish country estate", so it belongs to Bill Parrish and his family.

Question: Where Lecter did find the flag to swathe the policeman's corpse?

Answer: It's not a flag - it's a red, white and blue banner which is high up on the walls of the room where Lecter is being held. You see it when Starling visits him and looks around the room.

Question: After the Stabbington Brothers escape the royal guards, they enter the same tunnel in the pub that Rapunzel and Flynn escape through. Here's what I don't get: Rapunzel and Flynn are high on a cliff when they come out of the tunnel at the dam and the Stabbington Brothers come out of another tunnel which leads them to the bottom of the dam. How come the Stabbington Brothers didn't end up in the same place as Rapunzel, Flynn, and the guards pursuing when exiting the tunnel? How did the twin thieves end up in another tunnel?

John Ohman

Chosen answer: There were two separate tunnels. The Stabbington brothers just came out of the other one. That's why they ended up in a different place.

Question: What exactly was it about the vending machine that made Mulder realize it was actually the bomb that he and Scully were looking for?

Answer: The drink selection buttons were unresponsive after he deposited his coins, and then he noticed that the machine was illuminated despite being unplugged.

Question: When Joy is in the dump of forgotten memories, she sees a probe containing the sad memory of when Riley lost a hockey game after missing the winning shot. The probe shows that after Riley felt sad and has been cheered up by her parents, she is cheered on by her old team mates. Joy knows that since that probe is blue, it was a memory represented by Sadness. She begins to realize that Sadness helped Riley to ease her conscience. How come Joy didn't see that before when she would have been at the control panel in headquarters just when the event occurred?

John Ohman

Chosen answer: Joy must have seen the event. Since Joy was so focused on Riley's happiness and thought Sadness brought nothing to the table, she didn't realize that Riley needs to be sad at times to help her cope and move on to get to the happy times.

Answer: Yes. She killed them as well.

Mrs Voorhees murdered Barry and Claudette because, in her mind, at least, she thought that they had caused her son to drown. (I realise that's not what you asked).

Question: When Robin asks Rabbi Tuckman to marry him and Maid Marian, Rabbi says that he's on his last customer and that he'll be right out, and then we hear a crack, a guy calling out in pain and the Rabbi telling him "Put a little ice on it. You'll be fine." What was the joke? I never understood what he did that made the guy call out in pain. Can someone please explain?

Answer: He was giving the man inside a circumcision. Earlier in the movie, Rabbi Tuckman showed Robin and the Merry Men a small handheld guillotine. He gave a demonstration by taking a carrot (or a candle, doesn't matter which) which was to represent a man's penis and used the guillotine to cut the tip of the carrot off.

Question: In the scene when the Black Knight Ghost and the 10,000 Volt Ghost are destroyed, I can see how the Black Knight was destroyed but how was the Volt Ghost destroyed and also, how could a jumper cable hurt him? I never understood that part exactly.

Answer: The jumper cables "conducted" the 10,000 Volt Ghost into the Black Knight, causing them both to explode.

Answer: The song is called Bump in the Night.

Question: How did Mary Jane get Scooby snacks? I thought they were made just for Scooby, (Hence the name). I've seen a lot of episodes of Scooby-Doo but not every single one, so that's why I'm asking.

Answer: There are some episodes where they show the factories where Scooby Snacks are manufactured, so they aren't just made for him. Scooby is shown to love them as a puppy, so it's possible the dog was named after the snacks because he loved them so much.

Question: I've never adopted kids before so that's why I'm asking this question; When Stuart is being adopted, I noticed that on his papers, the parents were listed as Mr. And Mrs. Little. My question is, why aren't their first names on there? George's first name was, so why weren't theirs on there as well? Is that a mistake or is it common?

Answer: I wouldn't call it a "mistake" as the movie did that on purpose for both a gag and an emphasis on Stuart becoming a Little. This is definitely not practice for actually adopting children. You must put your first name on the paperwork.

Question: Horton crossed the bridge to get to Mount Nool and destroyed it. How did everyone else get across?

Answer: There is a possibility that that bridge wasn't the only one to lead to Mount Nool, just the closest one.

Question: When Maggie asks Barney if he still thinks about Billy after his death, he says "We keep it light until we have to get dark. Then we go pitch black." What exactly does Barney mean by this?

Answer: "We keep it light" refers to their mood. They joke around and tease each other and have fun. "Till we go dark" is when they get serious for killing. "We go pitch black." Meaning as dark and brutal killing machines as possible.

Question: One of the first steps in the defeating of Davy Jones was for Will to find out where the key to the chest was. In order to do that, he had to play that game with Davy Jones. How exactly did the game work?

Answer: The game is called Liar's Dice, and the idea is to bid on the numbers that are rolled among all players. For example, player one might suggest that among all players, 3 sixes have been rolled. The next player can either up the bid (by suggesting there are more than 3 sixes, or he/she can change the number rolled in question as long as they count higher than the previous suggestion, i.e 4 sixes or 4 twos, but they cannot say 2 fives) or they can call the bluff of the previous player. If at least 3 sixes were rolled, then the bid is true and player two loses. If there are fewer than 3 sixes, then player one's bluff has been called and he loses. In the case of the game between Will, Bootstrap Bill and Davy Jones, Bootstrap purposely gave a ridiculous bid in order to spare Will from losing. By making such a bid, he forced Davy Jones into either calling his bluff or increasing the bid himself, in which case Will would have then called Davy Jones' bluff and won the game.

Question: It makes sense to me how Joy, Sadness, Anger, and Disgust's colors represent the emotions they are. Here's what I don't get though. How does Fear's color (purple) represent the emotion he is?

John Ohman

Chosen answer: The filmmakers noticed that the traditional color for cowardice (Fear) was yellow, but Joy was already yellow (not because she was cowardice). Purple was then used for Fear, primarily because Joy was already chosen yellow. Docter states that "Fear was kind of, frankly, the leftover color. We tried to design them in a nice ensemble group so they looked good together."
