Visible crew/equipment: While Jin is cuffed to the wreckage, Sun points to her wrist and explains in Korean, but Sayid shouts, "The cuffs stay on!" At the start of the next shot, a crewmember's arm is seen holding the reflector screen to Sawyer's left, as he makes a sarcastic comment. (00:09:30)

Continuity mistake: When Kate and Sawyer find the deceased crash victims underwater, as Sawyer takes the man's wallet and heads for the surface the corpse's tie floats up freely, his suit jacket is pulled way up, and his legs are spread apart. Yet, when Sawyer and Kate go back for the case, the neat tie and suit are on properly, and now the corpse's legs are suddenly crossed, albeit in a twisted sort of way. Continuity mistake: When Kate and Sawyer happen upon the lovely waterfall, Sawyer removes his shirt and he has the bandage tied round the stab wound on his upper arm. Trivia: In the midst of withdrawal, the third time Charlie asks Locke for his stash Locke finally hands it to Charlie, who stares at the bag of heroin. On the DVD commentary, Dom Monaghan remarks that while he holds the bag of heroin (really brown sugar, but hey) he's "doing a Gollum" - using Andy Serkis's portrayal of Gollum, and his desire for his "Precious" as the basis for Charlie's intense need for the drug.

Continuity mistake: After Jin is pulled off Michael, when Sawyer removes the marshal's handcuffs from his pocket there is a very short link chain dangling - about a couple of inches. However, when Jin is cuffed to the wreckage the link chain is considerably longer - about a foot. (00:06:15)

Continuity mistake: Jin is handcuffed in season 1, "House of the Rising Sun" and the cuff remains on his left wrist until season 2, "What Kate Did" when Locke removes it. The handcuffs have a distinctive shape - a single strand connected via pivot to a double strand with the lock area. When Jin is initially cuffed to the plane wreckage, the single strand faces out at his wrist, but in following shots, in this and all the subsequent episodes, the handcuff actually switches sides repeatedly, going round his wrist the opposite way.

Other mistake: When Ray pulls up to Mary Ann's home, the front exterior layout and dimensions of the house are evident, from its near center front door to the two car garage, in front of Ray's van. The side exterior wall contains two large garage doors, which are about 35-40 ft from the location of the front door, with no small basement windows at ground level; inside, beside the front door, the stairs that lead to the basement run parallel just under the stairs in the foyer. In the basement, the small windows on the far end of the furnace room they run into are only about 20 ft from the basement stairs. Not only are the small windows non-existent in the exterior shot, but it's entirely impossible for two small windows to be where they are, considering the exterior footage of the house. Trivia: Peter Jackson's cameo in this film is in one of the biplanes attacking Kong, when he stands atop the Empire State Building. This is an homage to the director/producer cameos in the 1933 film. His co-pilot is makeup-artist Rick Baker, who portrayed Kong in the 1976 version of King Kong.

Deliberate mistake: As Ray drives the pickup truck, an oncoming vehicle beeps and the marshal heads behind Ray's pickup. In the shot through the cab's rear window facing the bed, as the marshal pulls behind, the bed's side wall interior is seen (note the metal loop tie down on top) and the entire tailgate is gone; yet the tailgate is intact later, when the pickup flips over. The tailgate was removed for the shot to allow visibility of the marshal's vehicle.
