Visible crew/equipment: In the containment lab, when the alien awakens and begins its attack, the alien moves from right to left towards a doctor, who is backed up against a door. The crewmember who is wearing the alien costume has on a white shirt and black trousers, and the costume's straps attached to the pants are visible, as well as some wiring at the back. Visible crew/equipment: After President Whitmore decides to go ahead with David's plan for the virus, he, Connie and Grey are walking when the President pushes Nimzicki up against a desk. Just before they reach that desk, the actor's mark is visible on the floor, precisely where the President stops before he fires Nimzicki. (Only visible on fullscreen DVD.)

Visible crew/equipment: When David introduces the idea of a virus, the first time Major Mitchell shoots at the Coke can the two actors' marks are visible on the floor in front of Julius and Connie, as well as a brown rug at their feet, that are not in other shots. (Only visible on fullscreen DVD.)

Continuity mistake: When David shows up at his father's house, Julius opens the door pointing a gun at his son. David grabs hold of the barrel and in the shots facing Julius, David lets go, but in the shots facing David the barrel is still pointing up which David is still holding firmly.

Visible crew/equipment: At the Area 51 lab, when President Whitmore is down on the ground in pain, in the shot from inside the lab facing the lab's outer hall, the alien costume only reaches just above the crewmember's waist - the costume straps attached to his pants are visible, as well as his arm. Trivia: Just after the first building in LA blows up, there is a close-up of a guy putting cash in a case and he's blown backwards in the blast. This is Volker Engel, the film's visual effects supervisor, who won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for this film.

Trivia: At the moment Julius gives David the idea for the virus, David stands there, grabs his head and then turns his hand in a peculiar way. According to the commentary, "For those who can't quite figure out that weird thing he did, he just turned his thinking cap around. Goldblum comes up with the greatest, coolest, weirdest stuff. He's an absolute joy to work with." (01:44:10)

Continuity mistake: When Major Mitchell gives the crash course to all the new pilots, his hair his much shorter than in previous and following shots, and Russell's beard is also much fuzzier than it was in the previous shots, etc. (01:51:30)

Continuity mistake: When General Grey tells the President not to engage until they have visual, in the President's close-up the exterior of this F/A-18 Hornet is quite different than what was shown in the earlier shot, as the canopy closed over him. All the rivets around the canopy have disappeared and the 'danger' triangle is much closer to the name Patrick, the seat differs, etc. Plus the fact that the canopy and hull are actually one unit in the second shot. Continuity mistake: At Compact Cable, when David takes the bowl out of the microwave in the close-up, he only wears the black bracelet. Next shot, when Marty comes into David's office the chunky silver link bracelet just appears out of the blue. (Special Edition) (00:14:10)

Visible crew/equipment: A few shots after the White House and chopper are destroyed, when a light colored car lifts up from the bottom left to top left of the screen, the roll cannon is visible under the car, between the front tires. (00:52:10)

Visible crew/equipment: A couple of shots after Jasmine grabs Dylan from the car, the rears of a red car and white car are shown tossed up from a front shot. Next shot from behind, the same two cars are shown tossed up again where we can see the flat belt system between the four tires and the mechanical arm at work doing the flipping. (00:53:40)

Audio problem: When the Knights deploy their missiles with no results, we see in close-ups as they respond that Steven is Knight 1, Jimmy is Knight 7, and another Marine is Knight 3. After Steven says, "Knight 1. Sweet Luck. Echo, Fox 2," we see a close-up of Knight 3 and hear his voice (not Jimmy's) say, "Knight 7, Fox 2", though he is in fact Knight 3, and Jimmy is Knight 7. Audio problem: After the President tells General Grey that he is a combat pilot who belongs in the air, Major Mitchell says, "Okay, sir," but his mouth movements are not in sync. (01:57:40)

Continuity mistake: When Russell boards the F/A-18, he places the photo of his kids beside the left DDI on the instrument panel, which is to the left of the number key pad, below the HUD. When he says, "Payback's a bitch..." there is an upside-down matchbook cover (with the words, "Amraam armed....is off" scribbled on it) exactly where the photo was - beside the left DDI, but then later the photo reappears. Also note that the yellow/black zebra marker behind the photo becomes a blue marker as well. (02:09:10 - 02:13:30)
