X-Men (1992)

Show generally

Continuity mistake: Archangel's alumni status (or lack thereof) with the X-Men varies throughout the series. Later episodes showed him to be an original member of the team just like in the comics, yet when he first appeared in Season 1, none of the other original members in the show (Cyclops, Jean Grey and Professor X) seem to know who he is. The time traveling mutant Shard also states in Season 4 that he is destined to eventually join the X-Men.

Conduit - S1-E4

Other mistake: When Mulder and Scully are first visiting Darlene Morris, there is a split-second shot of Mulder examining residue on his fingers that is edited in between Mulder and Scully ascending the steps to the porch and knocking on the door. It's as if the sequence was initially longer with Mulder discovering a suspicious substance before he and Scully knocked on the door that was not completely edited out. Note: this mistake may only appear on certain formats. At the time this mistake was originally posted, I spotted it on Netflix. However, it does not occur on my DVD, nor Hulu. (00:07:20)

Factual error: Area 51 is located in southern Nevada (the movie acknowledges this), but the security gate that Steve Hiller enters through is shown to be in the Bonneville Salt Flats, which are located hundreds of miles away in northwestern Utah.

Factual error: Russ Tyler's game-tying goal at the end of regulation in the championship game is preceded by several implausibilities and rule infractions that effectively would have nullified the goal. Firstly, not only is it against the rules to switch jerseys with another player (he is visibly wearing Goldberg's jersey), but there is no way he could have put on all the goalie pads in the 30-second time out. Secondly, he removes his helmet. When a goalie's helmet is removed during play, the game will be stopped and the goalie will be given a delay of game penalty if he intentionally removed it. And lastly, he skates all the way to center ice to take his shot. Not only do the players for the supposedly highly talented Iceland team not pick him up at center ice to defend his shot, instead allowing him to swap sticks with a teammate and take a wide open shot, but if a goalie with possession of the puck reaches center ice, play would be stopped and a face off would be held in the goalie's team's defensive zone.

The Mask (1994)

Revealing mistake: When Kellaway shows up at Stanley's apartment to question him about his pajamas and Stanley scrambles to stuff all the stolen bank money into his closet, you can see that a few of the bills are blank on the back side, revealing that the money is a fake movie prop.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode, after George has successfully airbrushed himself out of Kruger's picture and reinserted an authentic picture of Kruger, Kruger picks up the picture and explains to George why he doesn't think the mole Kramer discovered in Kruger's cancer screening is anything to worry about. After George says "Whatever" and just before Kruger begins explaining the story behind the picture to George, he tilts the picture towards the camera and if you look closely you can see that George is still in the picture. Hello, Dexter Morgan - S4-E11

Continuity mistake: When Dexter is killing Stan Beaudry, the drop of Beaudry's blood encompasses the width of the blood slide when the two pieces of the slide are pressed together, but then goes to being roughly half the size when the shot changes.

Revealing mistake: When Deb is texting "Looks like it" to Anton, the buttons she presses on the keypad do not correlate with the message itself and the phone doesn't show any auto-correct feature being utilized, indicating that the text message was added in post production.

Question: The narrative for this franchise takes place over thousands of years, yet Middle Earth is always in a medieval stasis. Has any reason been provided as to why Middle Earth never advances technologically?

Phaneron

Chosen answer: The presence of real magic in the world, and the fact that evil demi-gods and sorcerers keep trying to destroy it every few thousand years, makes technological advancement an endeavor no one sees much need for. Saruman makes some advances in it at Isengard, and in the novel the Shire had been very industrialized by Saruman's takeover when the hobbits return home to it.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: The layout of Frank and Carol's house is inconsistent with the exterior shots. The driveway as seen from their backyard is more shallow and narrow than what is shown in the exterior shots, and the stairway to the left of their front door has a window halfway up, but the exterior shot shows a low section of roof that would completely obscure any window.

Audio problem: When Cody is playing the blues on his guitar, he is shown to be fretting the higher pitched strings while playing the lower strings open. However only low notes are heard and at least three different chords are heard, which would not be possible if he was playing the strings open.

Character mistake: Tool neglects to dress Barney's tattoo after he completes it. Not something a professional tattoo artist would neglect to do, especially when he is tattooing a friend.

Suggested correction: Tool states that it's taken him several months to do the logo tattoo. It's also implied that he has done the rest of Barney's tattoo's. Barney, being the tough man he is, could have simply said in the past not to bother with dressing it and Tool has done as told against his better judgement.

Leonard Betts - S4-E12

Factual error: When Scully is performing the autopsy on Leonard Betts' severed head, she states "As remains are incomplete, all observations refer to a decapitated head." This phrasing is redundant. The proper terminology would be "disembodied head." As a medical doctor, Scully should know this.
