My Little Monkey - S2-E7

Plot hole: There is a rather confusing revelation when Chloe is shown the recording Joe Fields made for his daughter to see in the event that he were to die. In the recording, Fields tells his daughter that he did not kill the cop (Chloe's father). Chloe then notices that this is true because based on the timestamp on a sign in the background of the recording, he made the video 3 minutes before her father was killed. But this would be impossible because at that point the cop in question was still alive.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: That was the whole point of the episode. Joe Fields never killed Chloe's dad (officer Decker). Fields was innocent and took the fall for his murder. The time on the sign showed that Fields was too far away to have killed her dad. Her dad was in fact assassinated (arranged by Perry Smith) and not killed in a robbery attempt as previously believed.

Bishop73

But why would he even make a tape saying he didn't kill the cop if it hadn't even happened yet? Makes no sense. Did he go back in time?

I think you should rewatch the episode. He already agreed to take the fall for the murder. He knew the murder was going to happen. He made the tape for his daughter before he went to prison (and possibly made it before the murder as to further prove his innocent). The tape was to be given to his daughter after he died so that it wouldn't affect the deal he made.

Bishop73

They never made the connection that he knew the murder was going to happen, instead they went on a wild goose chase instead of going bit by bit.

But then as Bishop is saying, Joe Fields knew that the hit was going to go down. He made the video declaring his innocence so his daughter would eventually get the tape. Whether he knew that he would be exonerated is another matter. But the point remains the same. He knew that the cop was going to be killed and simply prepared for it. No mistake.

Suggested correction: The building doesn't vanish. The 1st shot shows a building further in the line the market stall is in. Due to the angle, it appears to be to Homer's right.

Factual error: After returning to the Dursley's after the dementor attack It is dark, this shows again when Vernon puts Dudley in the car. However, the howler from Mathila Hopkirk says that at 6:23pm Harry performed illegal magic. As the side story shows it is a hot summer, it wouldn't get dark until way past 8pm. (00:04:53 - 00:07:20)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Fairly certain the film was clear that the reason it got dark was because of the dementors, they have the ability to change the weather to depressive darkness.

Yes the Dementors make it go dark, but that's only when they are nearby. Since Harry got rid of the dementors, it would go back to how it was before. A hot summers day.

Prison Break (2005)

Subdivision - S2-E6

Continuity mistake: When the kid returns from the store and opens the trunk, Michael and T-bag both grab a shovel, Michael grabs the green and T-bag grabs the silver handled shovel. The next shot they have switched shovels and keep the switched shovels the rest of the scene. (01:17:30)

Nathan Midey

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Both handles are green. The sun is reflecting on the one due to the angle and the glare gives the impression of being silver.

Ssiscool

Corrected entry: During the scenes where "Dumbledore's Army" are practicing their spells, at one point they are using the spell 'Levi Corpus'. It is not until the next book (The Half Blood Prince) that this spell is actually discovered and used.

Correction: Book/Film discrepancies are not valid movie mistakes. The spell doesn't even do, in the books, what the movie shows it to do. But that's not a mistake either.

Phixius

Correction: James Potter used it on Snape at school and the death eaters used it on the muggle campsite owner at the quidditch World Cup. Both of these events happened before this film, meaning its not beyond probability that they would know it.

Trivia: The artwork on the wall behind the couch in the coffee house changes every 6 episodes.

Suggested correction: That's not really trivia nor a continuity mistake. Small businesses, particularly cafes and coffee houses, often show different local artists' work on a rotating basis in an effort to support the local arts.

How often it's rotated could be considered trivia however.

Suggested correction: The tape is only there while the adhesive sets in his continually new windshields, as he only just replaced the windshield and probably took off the tape off camera because it wouldn't add to the plot.

That doesn't explain how in some shots the tape appears and disappears between instant shots in numerous episodes.

The Terminator (1984)

Corrected entry: The Terminator has state of the art visual tracking. This is obvious for many reasons including when we get glimpses of how it sees things by heat analysis or infrared. Most notably it even has a little cross-hairs targeting system. Why then does he need to get a gun with a laser sight?

Correction: The Terminator doesn't fire through his eyes. The cross-hairs must be there for the purpose of adjusting his eyesight (maybe measuring the distance). Not aiming weapons.

Correction: Two other possibilities: 1. The Terminator wanted the .45 longslide for its concealability and stopping power. The laser sight was just an unnecessary bonus that it didn't bother (or wasn't able) to remove. 2. Laser sights are often used for intimidation as well as accuracy. If the Terminator didn't need it to know where to shoot, it could definitely exploit the human tendency to freeze for a split second upon seeing the red dot on their person, providing the window it needed to make the kill.

But why would a Terminator need the target to freeze for a split-second to make the kill when he could make the kill when he lines the gun up?

Breaking Bad (2008)

Show generally

Corrected entry: In the famous mugshot of Walter against a height chart, the chart goes up in nice 2 inch increments until 5'8." It then jumps to 6'0", completely skipping 5'10". Did they forget there are 12 inches in a foot, not 10?

tbh524

Correction: This picture was never used in the show. This looks to be fan-made. Regardless, this picture was never seen in any episode of Breaking Bad, so it is not a valid mistake.

jshy7979

If the picture was used as a promo shot by the production team then it could be considered a mistake. If it's fan-made then the correction seems to be valid. Does anyone know the source of the image?

Ssiscool

I can't find a source, but I don't recall ever seeing it in the show or in any ads, and in all honesty, it's pretty low-quality, so I seriously doubt it's a real production or promotional image. (The masking around his ears is quite bad, the "bruises" are digitally painted on - and poorly so at that, etc.) I would be willing to bet money on it being fan-made.

TedStixon

It's not in the episodes as the corrector says. But I never watched the show when it was 1st airing, so I'm unsure if it was used as a promotional shot and as such can't say if the correction is valid (though, as you say, the quality is low) so I would lean to the correction being valid.

The Crow (1994)

Corrected entry: When Eric is about to kill Tin Tin, he says that "Halloween isn't until manana". That is Spanish for tomorrow. If devil's night is the night before Halloween, Halloween can't be the next day, because it isn't even devil's night yet.

Correction: It IS Devil's Night because Eric died on Devil's Night one year before, according to the subtitle in the opening. The night Tin Tin dies is Eric's first night back from the dead. Thus making it Devil's Night and making Tin Tin's "manana" statement true.

However, Top Dollar states in his meeting that it is Devils Night tonight, and they need a plan for what to do. Prior to this scene we see Darla making breakfast for Sarah after her encounter with Eric the night before. So Eric must have killed Tin-Tin on October 29th with Top Dollar and the news reports on TV then saying its Devils Night the following day (30th) which is correct. Tin-Tin should have said "Devils Night isn't until manana" either way there is a mistake somewhere.

Other mistake: When Elizabeth points to the word "Tortuga" written in flames, she is pointing the wrong way. (01:04:30)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Elizabeth drops down and says "what's that over there?" and leans to look over the side of her seat. She doesn't point at the flames. The dress points earlier in the scene before the dress has knocked the candle over to start the flames.

Other mistake: When the two pirates are rowing toward the beach, and the dog is at the front, one of them is reading the bible. From the cover it's being held the right way up, but in a very quick shot showing the actual text of the book, the text itself is upside down. (00:30:20)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This isn't a mistake. Pintel states that Ragetti can't read. So the fact that Ragetti has the book upside down adds to this claim. With regard to the cover and text being opposite ways round, Ragetti or someone could have reattached the cover at some point as the Bible is damaged in places.

Ssiscool

I feel like arguing that the "cover may have been reattached" is far too much conjecture to be a mistake. It's much more likely to just be a minor continuity gaff as the mistake suggests.

TedStixon

I'll concede that is a fair minor goof. However, the writing being upside down when Ragetti is trying to read isn't really a goof.

Ssiscool

Continuity mistake: When Pintel and Ragetti's boat flips, the boat is seen firmly secure on the beach, well before they end up on the beach. That would only be possible if the waves crashed on the beach with a great force. (00:30:30)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: And in the overhead shot just as Pintel shouts "C'mon" you can see a wave that has reached further than the boat retreating back into the sea.

Ssiscool

Continuity mistake: In the scene when Will is talking to Cutler Beckett, there is a clock behind them that is being hauled up at a very slow pace. But when the shot switches and there's a close-up on Will, the clock has disappeared. Despite the angle change, we should still be able to see the clock. There hasn't been enough time for it to have moved out of shot. (00:11:20)

Disney-Freak

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Actually the clock is simply out of shot. If you listen you can hear the creaking where it's still moving and if you watch the two ropes behind Will you will see they are still raising and on the post behind Beckett you can see the shadows raising too. So the clock just simply isn't in the shot.

Plot hole: Elizabeth goes to drop the medallion over the side of the Pearl. Barbossa and the crew gasp and take a step forward revealing they want/need the medallion thus giving Elizabeth the upper hand in the negotiations. Why not let the medallion drop into the water below the Pearl and simply "take a walk" to get the medallion off the ocean floor? The crew can walk under water as shown later in the film so this shouldn't be an issue. (00:38:15)

Ssiscool

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Why not "simply take a walk" to retrieve that medallion? They have spent many years trying to find this bit of precious gold. If it's dropped, the underwater currents will most certainly carry it away, and if they walk underwater their feet will kick up the seabed making it even more difficult to locate. These cursed pirates have finally found their last missing piece, which would once and for all end their miserable curse, so they will not risk it being dropped into the sea.

Super Grover

How then, does it work with regard to what Pintel says in the Swan mansion, "The gold calls to us." Would they not be able to use this ability if the medallion is dropped overboard?

Ssiscool

Suggested correction: They only got startled from the idea, not realizing yet they could reclaim it easily, they are so close after all. Barbossa is not pleading to her, and they were hardly negotiating, Elizabeth was even only demanding they leave, nothing yet about the gold. All the scene does is give the dialogue needed for them to think her name is Turner, so they would keep her onboard and not just the gold. It's not an important part of the plot that they let her think she has the upper hand, if at all.

lionhead

Corrected entry: In the scene where Governor Swann tells Lord Beckett to stand his men down, Swann is looking straight ahead, but when Beckett's face is revealed, Swann is looking in the direction of Beckett. (00:02:50)

Correction: There is a 6-second shot of Lord Beckett between the two shots of Governor Swann. Enough time to turn his head.

Speed (1994)

Other mistake: When the safety cable goes taut and stops the falling elevator, a woman standing in the corner is shown to fall through a hole in the floor. However, the hole in the floor was plainly visible in the bottom of the elevator as it was falling. As the hole was more than wide enough for the woman's legs to fall through, she couldn't have been standing in that corner as it was falling.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: No, however when the elevator stops, it does so with a massive thud. Easily enough to knock a woman off her balance to fall through the hole.
