Corrected entry: The scene-setting type at the start of the film identifies the events as happening in November 1984. However, the character Jack Ryan is dropped off at Heathrow Airport by a Range Rover clearly sporting a number plate identifying it as a 'C' registration car. 'C' registrations were not issued until August 1985.

Correction: The C plate on the range rover could be right,'C'plates were actualy issued on 1984/85 vehicles-depending when the vehicle was built/registered.

A construction date in the UK is irreverent to the registration plate. A car can be built in December 1984 (B registration at the time) and first registered in December 1986 and thus given a D registration as that's what was being issued at the time, depending on when someone buys it. The DVLA in the UK will never release a registration early. So the vehicle shown, was registered after 1st August 1985. The film is set in 1984, so should show a B registration number plate.

The Italian Job (2003)

Other mistake: In the opening boat chase in Venice, the safe is supposedly represented by a metal pipe structure covered by cloth. But it doesn't flap or wave in the wind at all. On the contrary it has completely straight sides. It is quite clear that there must be a box underneath. (00:10:00)

Suggested correction: It may seem like that, in actuality there is a military grade fabric Lycra-Kevline that does not buckle or wave like ordinary fabrics.

This correction seems to have been made without watching the scene and understanding the mistake. Plus I think they meant to say "Kevlar." But, whatever material they're thinking of wouldn't behave like a solid piece of wood by not moving in the wind. And, the material wouldn't magically make rounded corners straight edged.

Bishop73

Agreed. The cloth in the film has perfectly crisp uniform edges. The steel poles are rounded whereas the 'safe' isn't.

Character mistake: Tool neglects to dress Barney's tattoo after he completes it. Not something a professional tattoo artist would neglect to do, especially when he is tattooing a friend.

Suggested correction: Tool states that it's taken him several months to do the logo tattoo. It's also implied that he has done the rest of Barney's tattoo's. Barney, being the tough man he is, could have simply said in the past not to bother with dressing it and Tool has done as told against his better judgement.

Wall-E (2008)

Factual error: As a trash compactor Wall-E does not function logically. When he fills his chest compartment with garbage and runs his internal compactor, the cube that exits his body is the same volume as the trash he puts in, despite that trash having been compacted. He does not add extra trash to fill the empty space after running the compactor - there are three scenes that show him filling up only once with loose garbage and then ejecting a densely compacted cube. (00:02:30)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: You haven't noticed the exact shape of his body. The back sticks out a tad. Garbage fills the space and the back pushes in to compress it.

You've missed the point of the mistake here. The cube that is ejected is the same size as the compartment. Wall-E puts loose fitting items into the compactor with gaps between items but once it's been crushed and compacted it's exactly the same size as before. It should be smaller.

Factual error: When Katniss approaches the gate to President Snow's mansion, just after the massacre of civilians in the large plaza, she sees her sister attending to wounded and runs toward her. There is a fiery explosion and Katniss is thrown onto her back and we see that radiant heat from the blast has caused the front of her coat to burst into flames. Flash burns are a common injury following an explosion, but Katniss has not a mark on her face, and not a trace of redness then, or shortly afterward when she is treated in a dispensary.

stevewaclo

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: As is made clear in the book, the fire never touches Katniss' face.

First off, whatever is in the book is not enough to correct a mistake for a movie. Secondly, flash burns do not require fire to contact the skin, they are caused by the thermal radiation from the explosion.

Toy Story (1995)

Corrected entry: During the business meeting, Lotso (who appears as the antagonist in Toy Story 3) makes a cameo appearance sitting on Andy's desk. (00:06:49)

Correction: This isn't Lotso. While it is a pink bear, it's not Lotso as it's explained that Lotso was owned by a girl named Daisy who lost him during a family picnic.

The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire - S4-E5

Plot hole: Brian and Peter see Loretta and Quagmire having sex yet, they aren't sure who she's having an affair with. There's no way they couldn't have noticed it was Quagmire - the couch was facing the front door! And obviously Quagmire was on top of Loretta considering the fact that he leans up, says something, then she tells him to get back down here and finish.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: It is possible that depending on their position when they walk in the that Quagmire's face could have been hidden from view. And it's not until after Brian and Peter have left that Quagmire sits up to ask what was that, indicating he hadn't seen Peter and Brian.

Ssiscool

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: A person is smart, people are stupid. A crowd in a panic would do exactly that sort of thing. Like trampling over each other running in panic from a shooting or a fire when not needed. It's the nature of panic in humans as a group to act stupid. It's not a movie mistake. It's actually one of the more realistic parts of the film.

Quantom X

Suggested correction: The dinosaurs were also breaking into/attacking people inside, so they weren't safe no matter what.

True, but one option is certainly safer than the other.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Corrected entry: There's a problem with the "faulty lysine gene" idea. If the idea is to insert a faulty gene to prevent the dinosaurs metabalizing lysine, then feeding them dietary supplements won't help. They won't be able to metabolize the extra lysine, so what's the point of them eating it? If the idea is to stop them manufacturing lysine then they are on a hiding to nothing anyway, as lysine is not "manufactured" in the body and is obtained exclusively from dietary sources. Either way, those dinosaurs are in trouble from the getgo.

Correction: The faulty lysine gene wasn't inserted to prevent the dinosaurs from metabolising lysine: It makes them lysine dependent. Word for word from the book (since it explains it better): "we don't want them to survive in the wild. So I've made them lysine dependent. I inserted a gene that makes a single faulty enzyme in protein metabolism. As a result, the animals cannot manufacture the amino acid lysine. They must ingest it from the outside. Unless they get an extraneous source of lysine - supplied by us, in tablet form - they'll go into a coma within 12 hours and expire."

Rlvlk

How is it even possible to administer tablets to a dinosaur?

Depends on the dinosaur. With a T-Rex, just get another animal such as the goat and put the tablets in the body of the goat. Same way you put a dogs tablet in a bit of ham.

Ssiscool

Correction: Lysine could be administered by making vegetable matter high in lysine available.

Suggested correction: He couldn't hear someone calling out?

Maybe so, but an auction house requires you to have a number assigned so that auctioneer can write it on his log so the house knows who won and who has entered into a contract to buy. Thus they need to see the bidder.

Frozen (2013)

Other mistake: Anna is shown from the front as she ascends an ice staircase inside Elsa's ice castle. There are giant ice pillars to Anna's right and left. They should reflect the side of her face, but instead the reflections show her face from the front.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: That's not how reflections work. The ice walls are about two feet to her side so the reflection would look like it was shot from the front but about 4 feet to the side.

Even if that's the case, the mistake remains valid.

Frozen (2013)

Frozen mistake picture Video

Continuity mistake: In "Let it Go", after Elsa releases her cloak, an overhead shot shows she's about 30 feet short of a gap, walking forwards, on a flat expanse of snow. She then keeps moving towards it while singing in closeup (which would have taken her right up to the edge). She then runs forwards in a wide shot, but instead of falling off the edge she should be right next to, she runs up over a hill that appears from nowhere, before she creates the steps to bridge the gap.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: If you watch closely as Elsa is walking backwards she has turned on a slight angle is now walking at an angle to the gap. She then turns round and increases this angle. Not by much but it's enough that she is now walking/running at approx a 40-45 degree angle and she disappears out of shot. We then see her approach a lip of snow (the camera is below Elsa) and form the ice staircase over the gap we originally see.

Death in Paradise (2011)

Correction: As someone having to wear such a mask I can only say that from time to time you do not wear it - it is not a very comfortable thing to do. Especially if one is drunk as Cedrik, he may have skipped wearing the mask that night. So I would not count it as a mistake.

As a fellow mask wearer myself, agreed. It's entirely plausible with Cedrik being that intoxicated he just simply didn't put his mask on.

The Thin White Line (1) - S3-E1

Corrected entry: When Peter catches up to Brian in the golf cart at the rehab facility, Brian is seen wearing a track suit with a headband and holding hand weights. Peter convinces him to go mess with the pregnant teens across the lake and in the row boat over Brian is still wearing the tracksuit and headband. However, when we see them enter a room where the pregnant teens are he has obviously taken off the tracksuit and headband and is just seen wearing his dog collar.

Breaking Bad (2008)

One Minute - S3-E7

Other mistake: At the end, we see the gunfight between Tuco's cousins and Hank. Several shots are fired, cars smash into each other, a woman runs off screaming. So not a "quiet" attack. However, as the camera zooms out to show the carnage, 2 people who are not involved in the attack, are just stood talking in the car park. A bit odd since there has been a very clear shoot out. (00:44:50)

Ssiscool

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Nobody is actually standing in the car park. People are standing around on the sidewalks talking to each other about what was going on, keeping their distance. Personally I would keep a bigger distance, but whatever distance they feel safe with.

lionhead

As the camera pans out you can see some people only a couple of cars away.

All I see are bystanders at a safe distance. At least from a distance they don't know where the actual shooting took place. It looks perfectly reasonable to me for the situation.

Suggested correction: The Umbrella high command is far underground and safe from the surface bombing. There's no mistake here.

TedStixon

Really? The whole point of the bomb was to destroy any evidence of what happened. That includes the hive.

brianjr0412

The point of the bomb was to remove any trace of the virus. Meaning all the inhabitants, dead or alive. Not necessarily the Hive.

Ssiscool

Yes but literally the head of company in Dr. Isaac's is located there. It makes no sense that they would bomb Raccoon City because according to Final Chapter they wanted the virus to spread anyway. This film franchise is filled with bad writing, crappy continuity, and plot holes.

That I can agree too. Films 4-6 have a aura about them that says "ignore everything previous, well make it up as we go along"

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: There are numerous times that the shower is running. When you can hear water but not see it, you're looking at a different shower pole, or it's because the grey shower pole behind the stream makes it hard to see. Look at the ground and you can see the water's impact.
