Trivia: Star Glenn Howerton partially credited "That '80s Show" as having helped get his popular sitcom "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" made. Despite this show failing and being cancelled after only one season, he was able to use some of the money me made from it to buy the camcorder that was used to the shoot the original proof of concept "pilot" that was used to pitch "Always Sunny" to networks. Without "That '80s Show," there's a very high chance "Always Sunny" wouldn't exist.

Trivia: There is a persistent rumor that the reason Agent L (the coroner from the first film who became an agent) was written out of the sequel was because the entire cast and crew hated actress Linda Fiorentino, who had a rather notorious reputation for being a bit of a diva. Tommy Lee Jones was even rumored to say he'd refuse to return if she did. To her credit, Fiorentino has said she would have returned, but couldn't do to scheduling conflicts. Although it's anyone's guess which is really true.

Question: The awkward delivery Kitty makes when she says "Who's hiding... d**khead?!" to Juggernaut always struck me as really strange. Is it just poor delivery of a generic insult? Or is she trying to make a (bad) one-liner about the fact his helmet is maybe, kinda-sorta vaguely shaped like a man's glans? The weird pause and emphasis on the word "d**k" in "d**khead" made me think it was the latter, but I'm not sure.

Trivia: Sonic not being able to swim is a callback to the original video-games, where Sonic can't swim. When he's underwater, he can only movie like normal (albeit slower), and will drown after a brief period. In order to avoid drowning, he has to either surface or make contact with large air-bubbles that he can breathe in. This is also referenced in the movie when Sonic sucks in a giant air-bubble in the temple ruins while he's underwater to avoid drowning.

Trivia: Tom's cellphone ringtone is the theme to the level "Green Hill Zone" from the original 1991 "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game. The theme was also featured briefly in the first film in both an orchestral and piano rendition.

Trivia: The biplane from the wedding that Tails steals is a reference to the original video-games, in which Tails sometimes flies a similar biplane.

Trivia: At one point, Knuckles hits Sonic and Sonic drops and loses his bag of rings. This is a subtle reference to the video-games. In the video-games, Sonic collects rings which act as a sort-of surrogate health-meter. When he gets hit, he loses all his rings, and has to recollect them. (If he gets hit again while having no rings, he dies).

Trivia: Sonic makes a brief joke about the feud between the actors Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, who both appeared in the "Fast and Furious" movie franchise. This film is from the same producers as that franchise.

Trivia: Some of Robotnik's new drones have insect-like features. This is taken from the games, which featured robotic animals and insects as common enemies. In particular, the hornet-like drones are based on the "Buzz Bomber" enemies from the original Sega Genesis game.

Trivia: In essentially every other live-action Batman movie, the black eye-makeup around Batman's eyes has a tendency to just "disappear" whenever he takes his mask off. This is the first movie in which it actually remains on his face and he must clean it off.

Trivia: Idris Elba has stated that he pitched the idea of giving Knuckles a high, squeaky voice to humorously contrast with his strength and fierce persona. Thankfully, Elba and the director decided that this idea wouldn't work, and would probably just annoy fans, so they instead settled on a more tough, regal voice.

Trivia: Is the longest Batman movie ever released in theaters, and the second-longest theatrical superhero film of all time behind "Avengers: Endgame." (Which was only about six minutes longer that this movie).

Trivia: Colin Farrell reportedly went out and grabbed a coffee during a break in filming while he was in his prosthetic Penguin makeup. The prosthetic makeup was so convincing in-person that literally nobody realised it was him.

Trivia: Tails is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey. This is actually notable, as she had previously voiced the character in several video-games and the animated series "Sonic Boom!" She's the only voice actor from the video-games to return to voice her character in the movie series. The rest of the characters are voiced by celebrities.

Trivia: Kevin Smith reportedly did not get along at all with star Linda Fiorentino, who he found difficult and unpleasant. (In Smith's defense, Fiorentino reportedly had a reputation for being a diva behind-the-scenes on many of her films, and her career came to an abrupt halt in the 2000's due to her reputation and her ties to a major criminal case.) Smith has since confessed that he wished he had cast Janeane Garofalo, who has a small cameo role at the beginning of the film, in the lead part.

Question: Something I'm confused about... every home-video and streaming version of the movie available is in full-frame. But I've read it was released in theaters in some countries. So was the movie initially released in widescreen? It seems odd that the DVD editions are only in full-frame, especially as at the time they were released, widescreen was pretty much taking over as widescreen TV's were becoming more popular and full-frame was being phased out.

Trivia: When the group of friends are first introduced, if you look closely, Wes and Amber are snacking on a bag of grapes. This is a bizarrely specific reference to a scene from the first film, in which Tatum and Stu are also seen snacking on a bag of the same type of grapes. SPOILER ALERT: Just like in the original film, one of the people eating the fruit (Amber) is one of the killers, while the other person (Wes) is a victim.
