Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Question: What is this reference to "Fried Gold" mean? I'm sorta late on UK slang.

Answer: I took it to mean "Better than good" because say you have a candy bar, how do you make it better? Deep fry. So Gold is something precious and amazing. The only possible way to make it better would be to fry it.

Answer: According to IMDB : The phrase "fried gold" originated behind the scenes of Simon Pegg, Jessica Stevenson and Edgar Wright's sitcom "Spaced" (1999) and was mentioned several times on the DVD commentaries for that series. It makes several fan-pleasing appearances in the film.

The Birds (1963)

Question: What is said on the radio in the car at the end of the film?

Answer: "The bird attacks have subsided for the time being. Bodega Bay seems to be the centre, though there are reports of minor attacks on Sebastopol and a few on Santa Rosa. Bodega Bay has been cordoned off by roadblocks. Most of the townspeople have managed to get out, but there are still some isolated pockets of people. No decision has been arrived at yet as to what the next step will be, but there's been some discussion as to whether the military should go in. It appears that the bird attacks come in waves, with long intervals between. The reason for this does not seem clear as yet."

Question: All of Isaac's followers in this film are young people, no older than about their mid 20's. So why in the opening scene during the Cafe slaughter, is there a elderly lady helping them do their dirty work (the worker who poisons the coffees). This makes no sense at all considering it's the older people they were killing.

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: Who knows? Maybe they blackmailed her, because she works there, and the children wouldn't get caught poisoning the coffee, or maybe she isn't as old as you think, she could well be in her mid 20's, it's hard to tell, you only see her briefly.

Hamster

She is obviously in her late teens, early 20s.
