Magnum, P.I.

Distant Relative - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: The final automatic weapon burst that brings down the baddies breaks in close-up the right stoplight and the back license plate. The car rolls over, and before the explosion the license is in one piece, but taped blank. (00:42:55)

Plot hole: There's this remote drug hideout. A chopper flies by it, multiple salvos of uzis are fired, people are screaming...and yet this dude calmly approaches it and opens the door with a bag of groceries. Any of those sounds would have been heard for a mile or more in a place like that. There's no possible way that a drug merchant would unsuspectingly waltz into the place. And there's a buddy of his in a jeep (open one, too) waiting outside, who did not hear anything and nobody heard that vehicle approach, either. (00:39:20)

Distant Relative - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: After Rick has covered the distance from the rocks to the house and touches the wall, it cuts back to TC's chopper with Magnum. In those two shots the chopper has flotation pads, while in all the other flight views it has the normal skids. (00:36:00)

Distant Relative - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: Magnum asks Carol Baldwin "Please, come on, I need to know" pointing at her bag containing a large folder. Her left hand holds the bag differently at the cut (thumb on the inside / thumb against the buckle). (00:24:05)

Other mistake: Rick enters Wendy's room shouting like a madman, and then reaches the bedroom door trying to turn and pull the knob. He bangs the door, calls for Magnum's help, and both then bust the door open. In all that, the guy going through Wendy's underwear and bed sheets is still unfazed and stops what he's doing merely when they almost fall on him. (00:18:00)

Distant Relative - S4-E4

Character mistake: Magnum mutters that they can still make it to the second half of Bambi, "Thumper is probably still alive." Thumper does not die in "Bambi", as Magnum should know since he's seen the movie already. Props to him for being cautious with spoilers casually leaking a fake one, then?

Distant Relative - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: In the club scene when Magnum finds out Rick's little sister is not that innocent, the same extras do back and forth plenty times, sometimes back-back or forth-forth too with no continuity. One of the most obvious offenders is the girl wearing a red dress splotched with blue flowers; she is in every other shot at the beginning and comes from Magnum's left twice in a row. (00:10:35)

Distant Relative - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: At the bar, Rick's sister puts make-up on. She leaves the necessaire on the table when she begins to disrobe. She then picks up the clothes, and the make-up tools changed place and multiplied, showing also the brush and an additional powder box. (00:10:30)

Other mistake: Magnum wakes up because Agatha and Higgins are playing with their model planes that loudly buzz in the air. He opens his bedroom window and here they are, by the guesthouse, with a direct view and Higgins waving at him. He then gets out to give them a verbal beating, and he's coming from the main house area. (00:02:15)

Smaller Than Life - S4-E3

Continuity mistake: For the ending, Rick is shown putting on his pants. Few seconds later, when Higgins shouts "Your uniform!" at him, he's putting on the belt with the gun holster, but a few seconds later the belt he's trying to buckle is still the pants', and the gunbelt is still on the table. Audio problem: Waldo from the ground sort of grabs the arm of the villain who pummels him. There are at least 2 hit sounds that don't match with neither the ground and pound of the Bill Hader-esque villain, nor upkicks from the midget. (00:41:50)

Smaller Than Life - S4-E3

Character mistake: Waldo's database entry from the CIA archive is quite odd. The most striking part is the "Basketball scholarship, 1983." Despite the way Rick reads it and reacts to it, the only way it could make sense if it referred to Waldo's son, or he'd have gotten it at the ripe age of 42 and 20 years after graduating from Yale. But it makes no sense that it would be there on his file, and contrasts with the succinct file on Skuler. (00:25:00)

Of Sound Mind - S3-E12

Higgins: How fiendishly deceptive of you, Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent. To my great surprise, I see the sounds are emanating from what I thought was a harmless musical instrument.
Magnum: Cute Higgins, real cute.
Higgins: Why Magnum? Why do this terrible thing?
Magnum: Higgins, I'll have you know I used to be very good. I was the second best sax player in my High School band!
Higgins: Well, how many sax players were there?!
Magnum: ...Anyway. I just saw this in a pawn shop window and thought I'd like to try and get my chops back.
Higgins: May I suggest that your "chops" are irretrievable.
Magnum: Higgins, did you come here just to abuse me!?

Trivia: At the awards ceremony, three men seated at a table together resemble three detectives from 1970s TV shows. Detective Mike Stone (played by Karl Malden) from ABC's Streets of San Francisco; Detective Frank Columbo (played by Peter Falk) from NBC's Columbo; and Detective Theo Kojak (played by Telly Savalas) from CBS's Kojak.
