Question: The four main protagonists are constantly sliding into a different universe, with just the clothes on their backs, and they are usually very short of money or have money not used in that universe. So, how come they have such a varied and expensive wardrobe?

Question: What exactly did Ryback mean when he told Private Nash that they "brainwashed him at Boot Camp"? I never understood that line all these years.
Answer: Boot camp teaches you to obey. As long as the person talking to you has a higher rank, you're supposed to say "yes, sir or yes, ma'am." You do what you're told when you're told. You don't question it. That's why he goes along with putting Ryback in the freezer instead of the brig. That's why he believes it when he's told that the gunfire is party poppers. That's why Ryback says he's been brainwashed. Because he can't or won't think for himself.

Die Hard (1988)
Question: Were the terrorists intending to blow up the entire building, as opposed to just the roof, to fake their deaths? If that's the case, then how can they continue with the plan to fake their deaths if McClane already took some of the explosives on the lower floor?
Answer: They were planning to blow up just the roof, with the hostages on it, while they (Hans and crew) were safely below, to make law enforcement, the FBI, etc. think they'd been killed along with everyone else in the roof explosion. The plan was to then escape with the loot in the ambulance that Theo was driving and flee the country before anyone could discover their bodies were not among the scores of others. The former element was foiled by McClane's intervention on the roof, leading Hans to activate the explosives prematurely, while the latter was stopped by Argyle when he t-boned the ambulance and punched Theo unconscious in the parking garage.
But what would cause the authorities to think that the terrorists would be on the roof when it blew up? They could have been on the bottom floor for all they knew. I remember the movie quite well, but may have missed a line that clarifies to the authorities that they were going to be on or close to the roof.
As Hans says: "When they touch down, we’ll blow the roof. They’ll spend a month sifting through rubble, and by the time they figure out what went wrong, we’ll be sitting on a beach, earning twenty percent." I don't think Hans was expecting the authorities to assume they were all dead forever, just cause enough carnage and confusion that they can escape. The FBI might think they were dead, or if nothing else not know where they went. The bodies McClane had left behind might even help muddy the waters. They could then escape to a non-extradition country and live in peace, no matter if anyone figured out they were alive or not.
Shortly after he kills Ellis, Hans radios Deputy Chief of police Dwayne T. Robison. He tells him to get his "comrades" released. He lists off several actual terrorists, then tells Dwayne that after those people are released, the hostages will be taken to the roof and accompany them by helicopter to the airport. Later, Agent Johnson of the FBI tells Hans that his demands have been met and that helicopters are en route as requested. That's why the Feds think the bad guys will be on the roof.

General questions
I'm looking for a '90s, maybe '80s movie about a female president having an affair, or a relationship that people didn't approve of. She and her boyfriend were photographed outdoors one night. Another woman referred to the president's behavior as "putting on a sex show." I only saw the preview on a VHS tape.
Answer: It could be The Contender from 2000. Joan Allen plays a vice-presidential candidate who is dragged through the mud by political rivals. There are rumors about orgies, prostitution, and other.
That seems to be it. I did a search for the script, and it contains the "She was putting on a sex show" line. Thanks.

Question: I remember an episode where Alex does the grocery shopping for the family and comes home with groceries and more money than when he started out. Elyse (Mom) says to Alex "I only gave you $20" and Alex replies that he used coupons and went on double coupon day or something like that and after the trip the store ended up owing him money. I can absolutely remember this part but have rewatched every episode (I think) recently and cannot find it. Does anyone else remember this part or episode?
Answer: A scene very similar to the one described happened on the show Mr. Belvedere that was on in the same time frame as when Family Ties was on. Perhaps this is what you are remembering.

General questions
I remember seeing trailers for a TV show a while back. It was either the very late 90's or the early 2000's. (I'm leaning more towards early-2000's.) I don't remember too much, but it was about a cop who had something wrong with his mind. He was a little unhinged and didn't seem to have any sort-of mental filter... like it he had a thought, he would immediately verbalize it without control. Ex. I swear I could remember a bit in the trailer where he was talking about having a song stuck in his head, and he was like babbling about it to someone in a car. It might have been as a result of an injury or like a mental breakdown or something. If I recall correctly, it was a hard-boiled cop show and I'm pretty sure it was on one of the major networks. Does this ring anyone's bell? (For reference, I'm in the US, so it was most likely an American show).
Answer: It's possible the show was Touching Evil. It was on the USA network in 2004, It starred Jeffrey Donovan as an FBI agent who returns to work after being shot in the head. As a result of the head injury, he has almost no impulse control. He says or does whatever he feels like regardless of social norms.

Question: What good would it do for Laurie to see Michael's face? She didn't see it in the first movie so how would she know what he looked like?
Answer: By this movie Laurie has been dealing with Michael for over 20 years. Michael had been institutionalized for a long time and Dr. Loomis had lots of files on Michael. There is no reason to believe Laurie hadn't read those files which would've included photos that would show what he looked like growing from a child to a young adult. Those pics would her a good idea of what he should look like as an older man.

I saw a movie quite a few years ago now, I think it was a TV movie. It was about a girl who was raped on her way home from work (waitressing, I think) and became pregnant, I think her father didn't believe it and thought she was just a slut. A guy who she liked started seeing her, feeling pity for her and they married. I believe they went on to have another child. After tests to find a donor match when one of the kids falls sick, it transpires that her husband is the person who raped her years earlier. I'm sure she has a children's book published near the end of the movie, something along the lines of 'the magic quilt'. Can anyone help with a title?
Chosen answer: I think the movie is called Sin & Redemption. It was a Lifetime TV movie starring Richard Greico and Cynthia Gibb.
