South Park (1997)

Fun With Veal - S6-E4

Corrected entry: How did Mrs. Cartman get the food basket ready? She couldn't have done it at her house or anyone else's house in South Park, because someone would have noticed her leaving at some point to do it and then bringing it back, and she couldn't have done it at Stan's house because someone would have heard her in the kitchen making the food. Even if she'd ordered takeout, she'd have had to leave to pick it up or had to answer the door to get it from the delivery person.

Correction: Let's count the ways she could have done it. Stan and Cartman's houses are not the only houses in south park, she could have prepared the food at uncle Jimbo's place or somewhere else. She could have gone to a store and just bought the food. She could have ordered take-out and put the food in the food basket, etc etc.

Futurama (1999)

Correction: So time travel isn't a mistake, but rearranging yourselves inside of a box is? I'm pretty sure that, seeing as how they're changing universes, they could shuffle around their order and come out a different way than they went in.

300 (2006)

Corrected entry: In the first battle scene, Leonidas uses throws his spear and it sails through the air. It hits a Persian in the chest and he falls, and the guy right next to him falls at the exact same instant, but there is nothing making the other guy fall, since the spear only hit one Persian.

Correction: The Persian that got hit by the spear fell down and grabbed the other Persian while falling. No mistake here, no one said that both men died from one spear.

Saw III (2006)

Corrected entry: When Jeff plays the tape in the freezer, Jigsaw mentions that Danica Scott fled the scene after witnessing his son's death. If so, then how does he know who she is if she never testified against Timothy at his trial? There would be no way for Jigsaw to have known who she is or to find her.

Correction: Jigsaw seems to know a lot of things about a lot of people. How did he know about the original wreck? I assume it means that he was there when the accident happened, that's a very plausible assumption.

Corrected entry: In the London tube station, Matt Damon buys a mobile phone from a stand and puts it in the journalist's pocket. Matt Damon calls it and starts giving him directions. Since cell phones take a while to activate, this would not be possible.

Correction: He buys a pre-paid cell phone from the stand. These types of phones are activated as soon as you pull them out of the box and enter in the phone card number.

Vacancy (2007)

Corrected entry: Luke and Kate question why the cop showed up initially without an adress. Calls, especially hang-ups, are traced and an officer is sent to check them out.

Correction: Character mistake, not a movie mistake. They just didn't know or realize that cops will trace a hang-up.

300 (2006)

Corrected entry: The Persians are shown as revering their emperor as a "god-king". Not true - they were known for being monotheistic (believing in one god) which meant that they did not see kings as gods at all. It was the Greeks who were polytheistic (believing in many gods).

Correction: False. This is one part of the movie that was taken right out of the history books. Just read a little bit about Xerxes and you'll see. Also, even if it wasn't true about him, this movie is NOT a factual movie, Frank could have just taken artistic liscense, which wouldn't be a mistake at all.

Corrected entry: When Johnny and Ben are getting ready for the wedding, we can see that Johnny has only a t-shirt under his dress shirt. Yet after he chases the Silver Surfer and falls to Earth, he now has on his FF costume.

wizard_of_gore

Correction: The FF group almost ALWAYS have their costumes underneath their "normal" clothes, Johnny most of all because he might have to burn off his clothes at a moment's notice. You never see that he's *not* wearing his outfit underneath his tux and t-shirt.

The Illusionist (2006)

Corrected entry: When Eisenheim performs his 'orange tree' trick, his assistant shows the audience that the pot Eisenheim uses it empty. But when Eisenheim makes the tree grow, the pot is full to the top with soil (to cover up the orange tree mechanics).

Correction: The soil appearing in the pot is part of the trick, it's not a mistake.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Evan, now in prison, heads towards the gang leaders cell to "make a deal", you can see him walking past several gang members outside, obviously watching over the leaders. Yet when he stabs one of the leaders, picks up his journal and calls for Carlos to help, Carlos runs into the cell from the same side as Evan went in. Surely the gang members outside the cell would have seen Carlos follow Evan towards the cell and stopped him from entering after seeing Evan stab their leader?

Correction: Carlos had been in prison a long time, was a religious man, and wasn't seen as a threat. There was also mass confusion, they probably just didn't see him or pay attention.

Transformers (2007)

Corrected entry: When Bumbleebee and Barricade fight Barricade was defeated and destroyed. However, later in the film when Frenzy discovers the cube, he makes contact with all Decepticons and the following scenes show them all responding. One shot shows Barricade in car mode responding to the call and in good condition!

Correction: You never actually see that Barricade was destroyed. Bumblebee and Barricade were fighting when Sam and Mikaela were being chased by the little transformer. You never see the outcome of the fight, Bumblebee just comes back to Sam after the fight. It's completely likely (seeing as how Barricade shows up later) that he just admitted defeat and ran off. The "good condition" really doesn't mean much either. Bumblebee is a pristine 2009 camaro when in car form, but he's still roughed up when he's in his Transformer form (as is Optimus and all most of the others).

Transformers (2007)

Corrected entry: During the scene in which the four autobots crash-land, one of them lands in a field after bouncing off a ridge. In the next shot, Sam and Mikaela walk over and watch the autobot start to transform. However, this can't be possible. All four autobots flew over Sam and Mikaela as they were standing in front of the building with Bumblebee, so they would have to walk through the field that the autobot landed in in order to see it. Also the distance that the autobot travelled once it hit the floor must have been a good few hundred metres, which would take several minutes to walk through, by which time the autobot would have been long gone. For example, the one that landed in the DVD store transformed and was gone within a couple of minutes, before the kids with the camcorder got there.

Correction: Perhaps this autobot didn't transform as fast as the others (Optimus Prime takes a while to transform the first time also), or maybe he took his time since he didn't land in a highly populated area (unlike the one in the DVD store), or quite possibly the crash stunned this particular Autobot and it took him a minute to get his wits back. Either one is possible, only one is neccessary.

The Island (2005)

Corrected entry: The newest found survivor is a 7 Foxtrot. McCord Identifies Echo generation product as being 3 years old. This means that Foxtrot would be 2 years old, Golf would be 1 year old. According to this, the newly born product should be a 7 Hotel.

Correction: This misconception about the naming conventions has been corrected many many many times. No where in the movie is the naming spelled out. They were free to name any of the products after any of the signs.

Cruel Intentions (1999)

Corrected entry: Besides her being a little too virtuous, one of the roadblocks to Sebastian "bedding" Annette was her boyfriend, Trevor. He is mentioned twice in the film, yet the plot ultimately steamrolls over Trevor, as though he never existed.

Correction: My theory is that Trevor and Annette had actually broken up sometime after the article was written. As Sebastian pointed out, "You haven't mentioned him until now." Annette did not want to seem vulnerable and broken-hearted, so she told him that Trevor was in Europe. Regardless of whether Trevor actually went there, Annette was only pretending that they were still dating. It's also possible, as another correction suggests, that Trevor was a "character" created for Annette's magazine article.

Correction: "Trevor" is just something that Annette throws out there to keep Sebastian coming back. She enjoys baiting the hook and watching him squirm (she has cruel intentions). She would sleep with him if she wanted to (like she did with the instructor), but then she wouldn't be able to play her little mind games with him. (This has happened to me more than once in real life, a girl that won't go with me because she already has "someone else in mind", even though that's not the truth).

Nick Bylsma

I believe that Annette may have created "Trevor" just for the article in the magazine. She wanted female readers to read about her and a boy practicing abstinence in their relationship.

What instructor did Annette sleep with? Are you thinking of Cecile?

The submitter has mixed up characters. Kathryn, not Annette, slept with the dance instructor. Kathryn is also the one who plays "games," not Annette. The whole movie is about Annette being "better" than Kathryn. This is not a valid correction.

I think you are mixing up Annette and Kathryn. Annette, played by Reese Witherspoon, never slept with an instructor or played mind games.

Transformers (2007)

Corrected entry: How can the Allspark, being such a huge massive structure, turn into a hand-held cube but still be light enough to be carried by a human? Even if the alien technology is so great that it can fold into itself that many times, the laws of physics still apply, and all that mass is still there. It would still weigh many tons.

Correction: Are you going to say that cars transforming into 20ft tall robots are plot holes also? This is a fiction movie, no one knows what the Allspark is made out of or what it is possible of doing. On a side note, the Allspark being light enough to be carried by humans is completely in line with the comic series.

Corrected entry: In the first movie, we're told that the suits the FF4 wear have absorbed the same abilities that they do, which is why the torch doesn't burn his outfit, and is why when he switched powers with Susan, after the fiasco ends she is left sans clothing. However, in the airplane scene when Reed eyes the open overhead compartment to place his luggage, when he stretches his arm to place it there, you see his arm along with the suit and shirt stretch too. Given the previous explanation, only his arm should have stretched.

Correction: Reed (being a brilliant scientist and all) quite probably made himself special fabric that stretched as he did. It's a pretty important thing for him to be able to strech at a moment's notice. Also, this happens several other times in the movie (like when he's working on his equipment right before his wedding), so it's not like it's just one isolated time.

Unleashed (2005)

Corrected entry: When Bart sends his thugs and his robed henchman after Danny in the film's climax, he insists that he doesn't want Danny killed as he would be useless. So why then is every single thug trying to land a death blow? The robed henchman tries to cut his head off with a machete and the thugs fire wildly at Danny.

Correction: Bart told ONE of his henchmen that he wanted Danny alive. We never see that henchman tell any of the other goons chasing after Danny. That henchman guy is also established to be somewhat of a loose cannon, it's not out of character for him to shoot at Danny.

Accepted (2006)

Corrected entry: After Hoyt sets off the fire alarm in the concert scene everyone continues dancing while being soaked by the sprinkler water. Sprinklers are not generally activated when a fire alarm is manually pulled, rather a sufficient level of heat from a fire automatically triggers the sprinkler.

Correction: This is an old mental facility, I'm sure that all the equipment was fairly outdated and simplistic. In fact, many older fire alarm systems DID (do) trigger the sprinklers when the alarm was pulled.

Deja Vu (2006)

Corrected entry: During the film, when Doug Carlin is in the "present" unaltered time, he sees things that eventually happen later in the movie when he goes back in time. What doesn't make sense is that if he saw all the other things, and considering he saved the ferry, how could he see the ferry explode at all in the beginning?

Correction: That's exactly why he went back in time in the first place, to keep the ferry from exploding. One of the great questions to time travel is what happens to the present when you go back in time. during the movie it is alluded that you create a different branch of time when you go back. In this case that "present" ceased to exist when Doug went back in time. In doing so he created a new "present" time, and erased the "first present" time that is shown at the start of the movie.
