Angel (1999)

Orpheus - S4-E15

Question: It may be that Fred told her, but how does Willow know about Connor? In season one, Angel made it clear to Buffy that they lead separate lives now, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would call Willow just to tell her he has a son.

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Willow has always been the contact link between the two groups. Fred's call to Willow takes place in Buffy's world in the episode "Lies My Parents Told Me." Since Fred has the number and Willow knows who she is right away, she probably told her about Connor some time ago.

Twilight (2008)

Question: If/when Midnight Sun (which re-tells Twilight from Edward's POV) is ever optioned to make a film adaptation, would the scenes with Edward and Bella be edited into the film from this film? It would make more sense than having to re-shoot them. Plus, the dialogue pacing would be the same continuity-wise.

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Being that Stephanie Myers has stopped writing Midnight Sun because of it being leaked onto the internet, it may not ever be released or completed for that matter. It would make more sense for them to edit their scene into the film if it were to be made, but it would just be making the same film all over again. It would really be up to the director how to approach that, but as I said before, we may not ever see the completion of Midnight Sun.

Casino (1995)

Chosen answer: In the end.

Chosen answer: "Policing your brass", means to pick up your expended shell casings, after firing your rifle, or pistol.

Bones (2005)

Chosen answer: I have read each Kathy Reichs novel and nowhere in them is Temperance Brennan called "Bones". The atmosphere of the novels is much darker, grimmer and more down-to-earth than that of the series and the relationships among the characters is more lifelike; the heroine is called "Dr. Brennan" or "Tempe" by everybody, including her on/off lover Det. Andrew Ryan, except for her boss in Montréal who insists on calling her by her full name, Temperance.

Orsi

Question: I've noticed that Eric Clapton's "Heaven is One Step Away" is on the movie soundtrack. Does it appear in the film, and if so, where?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: The song is playing on the Red's radio while he is lying on the bench outside the Courthouse when Marty arrives back in 1985.

Casino Royale (2006)

Question: During the poker game when Bond orders his martini, what does Felix Leiter mean when he comments "Bring me one as well, keep the fruit"?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Bond first requested a dry martini but then invented the "Vesper", which included a thin slice of lemon peel. I believe Felix was asking to hold the lemon.

Chosen answer: Seeing as this is *scripted* television, they of course knew.

Blow (2001)

Question: Considering how small her role was (in relation to the film's running time), why did Penelope Cruz earn second billing behind Johnny Depp?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: A star's screen time does not equate to what position they are billed at on a film. It generally relates to the selling power of their name. The film's main star would obviously be Depp. Cruz however would still be higher than people like Liotta, Reubens, etc. as her name is more known. It also helps with selling the film to audiences than just a one actor film.

Lummie

Chosen answer: He will continue to occasionally act (he wants to persue live theater) and serve as executive producer.

Nim's Island (2008)

Chosen answer: No. Gerard Butler plays Alex Rover because Nim imagines him looking like her father. Alexandra Rover sees him like that merely for the sake of consistency within the film.

Phixius

Chosen answer: It is never stated, however she must have been there several years if she is on presidential detail.

Chosen answer: It is classic vampire mythology.

General questions

Is there a specific reason Tuesday was chosen as the release day for new DVD/Blu-Ray releases?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: A lot of reasons went into this decision. Most prominently: Sales figures are released on Mondays. Releasing a DVD on Tuesday maximizes the number of days in which to make sales that will count toward that figure. Next, if a video is selling particularly well, the retailer has plenty of time to order more copies for the weekend shoppers. Finally, releasing on Tuesday, as opposed to Monday, gives the retailer more time to stock their shelves. Not a big issue with super-huge chain stores, but rental establishments especially need time to reorganize everything on their shelves to fit the new releases in. Doing this over the weekend, when the store is most likely to be full of customers, for a Monday release isn't practical from a business perspective. Tuesday releases allow retailers to use the typically slow business day of Monday to get everything ready.

General questions

I've been watching "Melrose Place" on DVD, and I'm curious: since the show was aired on FOX, why are the DVDs released by CBS?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: CBS bought the rights to the show. You can also view them at cbs.com.

Carl Missouri

Question: According to his IMDB page, this is the only film Freddie Boath has made so far. What has he been up to for the past seven years?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Given that he's only seventeen now, pretty safe bet that he's been in school, focusing on his education.

Question: Near the beginning of the film, in 1946, Rick and Evie are asked to take the Eye of Shangri-La to China as a peace offering from Britain, and a subsequent shot is them arriving in China in 1947. Since the task seems to be of extreme importance, why do they wait an entire year to deliver it?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: For one thing, just because two different years are shown does not mean that a full twelve months passed before they arrived in China. Also, travel to an undeveloped third-world country in the mid 20th century was not like it is today. There were no jet planes, much pre-planning and preparation would have to be done before departure, different modes of transportation would have to be arranged, and there would be many stops, delays, and transfers along the way. This could cumulatively take many months.

Question: In some theaters, the film is shown in 3-D. When the film is released on home video, will it also be in 3-D?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Yep. The DVD comes in 3-D and 2-D versions. The 3-D versions come with (if I remember correctly) four pairs of 3-D glasses.

Superman Returns (2006)

Chosen answer: It certainly wouldn't have hurt his chances. The makers were looking for somebody who could emulate Reeve's performance, while still making it their own role. Routh fit the bill. As for the physical resemblance, there's only so far that you can go away from a certain look when casting for the role of Superman; obviously Routh and Reeve both fit that look. The distinct facial resemblance was simply a happy bonus.

Question: At the train station, when Peter says "It's been a year. How long does he expect us to wait," is the pronoun "he" referring to Aslan?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Yes.
