Corrected entry: When McConoughay is interviewing and shaking hands with his new coaching staff individually in his office, one of the coaches is introduced later in the movie as the head coach of West Virginia, Bobby Bowden.

Correction: They are two different actors who resemble each other.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Dr. Dedmon is visiting with Jake Lengeyl he mentions that he has had "four months of complicated". With the crash happening in November, four months after would be February. The weather at Jakes house in Ohio was rather nice for February (or even March). The grass is green, trees are full of leaves. The weather outside should be like winter, not spring.

Correction: 4 months from the crash would have been February, but he was referring to the search for a coach. First they were going to cancel the season, then they brought it back, then they went looking for a coach, all of which could easily take a few months or more. Dedmon is talking about 4 complicated months trying to find a coach for the team, not saying that it's been 4 months since the plane crash.

Corrected entry: In the final game against Xavier, they refer to number 19 on Xavier, whose name is simply given as "Crawford", as "Xavier's All-American tailback" when he fields the kickoff. Tailback is simply another word for halfback, but he is playing wide receiver the rest of the game and is never at the halfback position (hence he has to be guarded by Nate Ruffin, the other team's ace cornerback). As a wide receiver, he would not be announced as a "tailback".

Correction: In the Game of Xavier vs Marshall, college rules dictate a ball with stripes on each end. Professionals use the solid football. The game ball given to the college president had no stripes and all scenes of that football game for the movie had no stripes on the ends.

Factual error: During the Marshall-Xavier game the announcer refers to Xavier as the "Pirates", but Xavier's nickname is and was "Musketeers".

Question: Did the Morehead state game against Marshall in 1971 happen as shown in the movie? How did Morehead state score their touchdowns in the actual game?

Answer: According to Wikipedia: "For the season opener, the team visited the Morehead State Eagles for the I-64 Rivalry. Despite losing 29-6, the [Thundering] Herd (Marshall's team nickname) managed to score late in the game with Reggie Oliver's touchdown pass to Tom Smyth, prompting a standing ovation from the crowd." I have been unable to find a play-by-play account of the Morehead State touchdowns.
