Continuity mistake: The views of Pinero's dead "trophy wife" from opposite sides of the bed were not consistent. From Seth's view, Pinero's wife was lying mostly on her right side with her hair covering her head/neck but otherwise not visible, and her right arm extended outward from her waist area. From the other side of the bed, Pinero's wife's long wavy hair was over her left breast and should have been visible from Seth's position but was not. The wife's right arm also extended outward from her shoulder area. (00:00:22 - 00:01:19)
Continuity mistake: The car behind Julius is at various distances. It is closer when the camera is on Julius than when it switches (back and forth) to his passenger, Margot. (00:02:39)
Continuity mistake: The tattoo artist is almost finished drawing the American flag on the boy's upper right arm. After he wipes it and there's a quick camera shift, the tattoo is less complete - the stripes are bloodier, more jagged, and of unequal width like they were earlier. (00:14:31)
Continuity mistake: The gingerbread man cookie falls into the coffee cup, and the top is barely below the rim. Looking into the cup, the top of the cookie is much further down but does not fall this fast. The coffee cup is about half-full. Jackson takes a drink. The cookie does not interfere with the flow of the coffee into Jackson's mouth. When Jackson lowers the cup from his mouth, there is no visible cookie. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: The bottle of beer on the bar in front of Everett disappears in one shot but re-appears. Also, depending on the camera's angle, Everett either has his right hand holding onto the edge of the bar or is below the bar (out of sight). (00:04:25 - 00:40:14)
Continuity mistake: The position/angle of the telescope that Ronald uses to watch the nude lady and spot Sky in Chris' house doesn't match how the telescope was supposedly redirected. The telescope (which is already oddly angled toward the side window sill and initially corresponding to about 8:10 on a clock) would sometimes correspond to roughly 9:17 but awkwardly between 10:20 and 11:20 other times. Despite the different angles, Ronald was watching the same nude lady. (00:41:56 - 00:44:36)
Continuity mistake: Alan goes into his appointment with Dr. Fredericks at 5:08, and it is still 5:08 on the wall clock when he leaves her office. (00:10:20 - 00:14:03)
Revealing mistake: A dog would not be able to jump through a vehicle's window and land on shattered glass covering the rear seat without getting its paw pads cut. The shattered "glass" that Lulu was standing and sliding on appeared to be ice. (01:07:29)
Plot hole: Other than being an on-line college instructor who "works a lot", the status of Charlie's employment was not revealed. There's a big difference between being a full-time tenure-track instructor (with a fringe benefits package that would include health insurance) versus part-time/adjunct faculty (with low pay per course and little or no benefits). Charlie was able to save $120K in 8 years, suggesting he was full-time and should have had health as well as life insurance and a retirement plan.
Suggested correction: Not necessarily. My uncle works as a college professor (typically part-time or single-semester gigs) and has been able to set aside pretty good money by controlling his spending. Granted, not $120K... but my uncle also spends more money than Charlie on leisure things. (Also, according to a quick Google search, a part-time college professor often makes as much as $40K+ per year depending on different factors... pretty easy to save money if all you're spending is rent and food).
Continuity mistake: When Harry wrapped Lily's ankle injury, there was bloody wrapping below the duct tape. When Karl asked to see Lily's leg, there was no blood showing on the material below the tape. Also, Harry did not completely cover the ankle injury with duct tape like he did to keep creatures from smelling the blood on Lily's stomach cut, questioning why the creatures could not smell the blood on Lily's ankle. (00:19:55 - 00:26:50)
Character mistake: Captor put a bomb under Orlando's desk chair and told him to hack into the bank and transfer $2 million into an account. Orlando responded, "If I get caught, I'm facing 20 [years in prison]." Captor's death threats to Orlando and his family members plus the actual bomb under Orlando's chair are more than enough proof of duress or coercion - legal defenses to engaging in a crime. Orlando would not be facing any prison time or criminal penalties after a legal defense was successfully raised. (00:20:07 - 00:23:20)
Other mistake: Virgil drives the truck across flat land, yet the dashboard and A/C unit atop it are angled at about 45°. Views of Keith in the passenger seat show a level/horizontal dashboard and A/C unit, like they should be. (00:17:12)
Revealing mistake: The size of the spider walking off Sam's face becomes disproportionately smaller too fast compared to its size while on her cheek plus the spider's awkward movements are indicative of CGI. (00:02:20)
Factual error: Josephine walks away from her father King Louie 14th, after he tells her she has to marry the young Duke Lintillac for his money. When you look at back of Josephine, you can see a zipper in her skirt. King Louie 14th was King from 1643 until his death in 1715. The first zipper was invented was in 1851. The zipper being used as we know it present day was invented in the early 1890s by Whitcomb L. Judson. (00:55:57)
Continuity mistake: The clock on the wall behind Carl when he is pushing the wheelchair to Bess' room is at 11:58. After Carl puts Bess into the wheelchair and is pushing her down the hall, the clock is at 11:45 (or, possibly, 9:00). (00:14:08 - 00:15:40)
Factual error: Pettis' calculation of the amount Connor needed to replace his asset was way off. He stated, "[Cornell] brought me about 250 [$250,000] a year. He had at least 20 more years of service. Subtract five years he might have spent in prison, so you owe me, what? Six point two million." Pettis was presented as intelligent, but a quick mental calculation of even the full 20 years at $250,000 would total only $5 million (not $6.2 - an odd sum). For 15 years, the total would be $3,750,000. (00:28:45)
Continuity mistake: Overlooking the sudden drop from 1:02 to 0:17 seconds on the countdown clock, the one-second interval beeps are not accurate. In the countdown from 10 seconds, there are approximately or precisely 10 beeps, then the countdown clock shows 4 seconds remaining. (00:19:55)
Audio problem: When the boy and the leader of Iceland are hammering in posts and the boy is complaining that he's the heir and shouldn't have to do manual labor, there are at least two times when bad wind flutter in the microphones can be heard. It sounds like the wind clips the volume level and the audio briefly cuts out. It happens on windy film shoots, as wind screens can only prevent so much and its obviously very windy in this scene. Why this wasn't caught in post is hard to say. This is audible on the video on demand version.
Suggested correction: No such problem exists on the UHD/Blu-ray release. I also did not notice it on the VOD release, so it could have just been an issue with your sound setup.
Continuity mistake: The vent near the attic door on the ceiling moved to the adjacent wall after Hilda was pounding on the attic door. Instead of being parallel to the open doorway (on opposites sides of the hallway), it became adjacent to it and was above the level of the doorframe. A lightbulb/outlet also appeared to the right of the vent. (00:33:02)
Revealing mistake: The front view of the pirates in the golf cart with Darcy and Tom does not show the driver turning the steering wheel at all, which would mean the road was straight, but the when the road becomes visible again, it is diagonally behind the golf cart. (00:36:45)
