Continuity mistake: The sheriff wears his badge over his left side, which is traditional. As he is approaching on horse in the final scene of the movie it is still on his left side. Then for a few seconds in one shot his badge is on the right. (01:23:10)
Factual error: About 20 minutes in, the group find a Welsh miners' group in the phone book. The character who is making the call speaks the first two digits of the phone number: "0, 1,..." The movie is set in 1984, when the dialling code for that district was "0639" In that year, "01" was the code for London, not Wales.
Factual error: Writer/director Adam MacDonald boasted that he studied black bear predatory behavior and black bear attacks on humans for years in preparation for making this film, because he wanted to depict a black bear attack in as factual and as authentic a manner as possible. But, at the most crucial point in this film (when the black bear actually does attack Alex and Jenn), factual accuracy goes out the window. As Alex and Jenn cower in terror, the bear lunges into their tent and bites into Alex's leg; whereupon, Jenn fires a can of bear spray (a stifling pepper-based chemical) point-blank into the animal's face. The startled bear retreats for a moment, but then lunges into the tent again, dragging Alex outside and killing him; thereafter, the bear continues pursuing Jenn for the remainder of the film. However, according to years of extensive study by the University of Calgary, no bear has ever attacked a human after the animal was sprayed with bear spray, much less resumed an attack, as depicted in this film. To date, the success rate of defensive bear spray is 100%. So, the factual accuracy of "Backcountry" was abandoned for the sake of cheap thrills.
Continuity mistake: After cutting through Black Manta's gun, Aquaman then slams Manta in the face with his trident and knocks him down. As he is twirling his trident in victory, you can see his belt and its design. But then it cuts to a close up of Aquaman and suddenly his belt changes in design with the bar in the middle disappearing and the black of his pants extending further up onto his orange shirt in the belt area. Factual error: The film makes use of a real Broadway theater, the St. James, which is on West 44th St. When they leave the stage door, the actors are next to the Edison Hotel, which is on 47th St.
Other mistake: Zarina creates orange pixie dust that is supposed to give you light bending powers. But when Zarina throws the dust on the fairies and they change powers, Rosetta ends up with orange which gives her animal powers, not light bending powers.
Factual error: The picture of the bomb switch shows an Arduino Pro Mini. The Arduino Pro Mini was released in 2008, not in 1975. (01:21:20)
Suggested correction: SPOILERS: The ending of the film reveals that the Fizzle Bomber is an older version of the Agent, who still has a functioning time machine. This simply shows that he is using parts from the future for his bombs.
Continuity mistake: When they come over the mountain, Moses looks out at the Red Sea and sees nothing on the horizon. When they get across, they can see the mountains where they crossed very easily - the area on other side has mountains similar to the ones they crossed, which should have been visible when first approaching.
Character mistake: When the supply convoy is ambushed, Soto is instructed to get on the .50 caliber. However, the weapon on the gun ring is a .30 caliber M1919 machine gun, not a "Ma Deuce" .50 caliber.
Character mistake: Nikki lost her insulin kit and needs insulin. Her mother suggests getting her a fruit juice, something sweet. Fruit juice contains a large amount of sugar which raises blood sugar levels very quickly. Therefore, people with diabetes are usually best to avoid drinking fruit juice. Her suggestion is absurd.
Audio problem: When Dawson and Amanda are at the Vandemere House, there is a nighttime scene where they are in the living room. Dawson is by the fire, and Amanda is on the couch. You can see Amanda's profile, and you hear her say something about turning on the radio last time they were there, and how she knew a song would come on. And you hear her laughing, but her lips and chin do not move. (01:18:00)
Revealing mistake: When the girl gets her head cut off with the barbed wire, when her body falls to the ground, her feet bounce around like rubber.
Factual error: Scarlett and George use the Rose Key to translate the inscription on the back of Flamel's ancient tombstone, and it translates into a rhyming English lyric puzzle. Problem is, they are translating this lyric puzzle from Aramaic (an ancient and virtually dead Middle Eastern language) to modern English. Aramaic would not and could not translate into rhyming modern English.
Continuity mistake: Hercules is bitten on his right shoulder by wolves towards the end. As they escape the dungeon the bites can been seen on that shoulder throughout. But as soon as they escape the bites are no longer there.
Factual error: After Batman hits the Manbats with his sonar batterangs and they go nuts trying to escape the sound, some begin chewing at the glass separating them from the ocean in their desperation. This is in the under workings of an oil rig out in the ocean. Hundreds of pounds of pressure is on that glass. The Manbats chew through the glass, and then the water begins rushing in. All logic and laws of physics dictate that the Manbats would be pushed back, down into the oil rig further as water rushes in. However, as the water begins pouring in, 3 Manbats are somehow pushed out of the hole into the water, and are sitting still, long enough for a shark to grab one. Even if they did somehow manage to get out like that despite physics, the water rushing in the hole would have caused a vacuum and sucked them right back in. Yet they remain perfectly still in the water, only a couple feet or so away from the hole they just made.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where James and Ben are interrogating Jay at the pawn shop, watch Jay's shirt. It changes from green to black.
Continuity mistake: When Anna Kendrick visits Jennifer Aniston in the hospital it shows a cake from different views. When the views change the candles light and relight. (01:14:30 - 01:15:25)
Suggested correction: The candles on the cake never light and relight. They are always lit from the point when Anna Kendrick (Nina) lights them. In one shot they look unlit due to the pillow behind them but if you look closely they are always lit.
Character mistake: At the hospital, Alice's husband says, "Here we are, in a major hospital, and they only have one elevator." In fact, there are two elevators, right beside each other. He actually looks at the other one before making the comment.
Suggested correction: He meant one elevator bank that actually worked. During the time they waited, none came.
Exactly. He says "they only have one elevator running", which is different than saying they only had one elevator.
Continuity mistake: Rich is dangling a light bulb above his dad's head. When the camera shifts to a close-up of Rich, the light bulb is higher - almost across from his own face - but back to dangling above his dad's head with the next camera shift. This is independent of Rich's dad telling him to "hold the light steady." (00:06:23)
Continuity mistake: In a scene at a night club, Colin Firth's friend has a glass of red wine in his hand and then he has a glass of white wine.
