Dismissed picture

Stupidity: While Mr. Butler was upstairs taking a shower, Lucas goes into his house, kills his wife, and takes the baby to the school (into Mr. Butler's classroom). Lucas wanted to take away Mr. Butler's family, so all he needed to do was also kill the baby at the house (or leave the dead baby outside on the porch for Mr. Butler to panic while searching). Lucas could have left the house without getting caught for committing a double murder; instead, he keeps the baby alive and assumes Mr. Butler will know he took the baby to his classroom. (01:17:53)

The Lost Husband picture

Stupidity: At the outdoor market, Libby told her old girlfriends that she'd "be right back" and went into a stall in the women's room. Soon, her girlfriends came in but stayed in front by the mirror. Without bothering to look if anyone (particularly, Libby) was in one of the three stalls, they started talking negatively about Libby (e.g, " Ugh, what is it about her that is so irritating?", "I feel sorry for her", "She looks like she's wearing a Halloween costume", "She's like a lumberjack"). The Girl Next Door picture

Stupidity: When Matt goes to the bank to close out the account he learns that it's been closed already by Kelly. Matt says he will be expelled, but he never did anything wrong except lie about who Kelly was. The bank teller is the one who was flirting with him and gave him the money with out any proper ID or papers, so if anything the bank would reimburse Matt/the school.

Hollow Man picture

Stupidity: In the freezer you can see the electrical wire power cord that is powering the motor on the wall. She could have easily pulled/ ripped the wire to stop the freezer from working. And when the chemical bomb is in the mixer they could have unplugged the machine which would stop it from going off.

48 Hrs. picture

Stupidity: The fact that Nolte even gives in to Eddie's demands is ridiculous. Why not just interview him in prison, ask him where to look for certain people, etc, and if it's a dead end, report back and ask for further tips, etc. They had zero problem going to prison and asking Kirkland Smith in the sequel.

X-Men: First Class picture

Stupidity: All the mutants on the island need Magneto at the last second to take control of the missiles so they don't land and explode. Why didn't Azazel just teleport everyone off the island?

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Given the situation, there was probably very little time to come up with a plan like this. The missiles were flying towards them extremely quickly, and there would have been nowhere near enough time to band every single person together for Azazel to teleport them all out of there in just a few seconds.

Casual Person

There was plenty of time. He could have taken 5 at a time down the Beach 3 miles and came back for the rest. Earlier in the movie he was moving so fast men were falling from the sky at nearly the same time and he was teleporting them one at a time.

Space Sweepers picture

Stupidity: When the crew think that Dorothy is a robot with a bomb planted in her and is capable of exploding, they begin to think that she is about to explode and attempt to dodge it. Rather than hide somewhere or take cover behind an area that may protect them, they just get down on the floor in front of them and cover their heads with their hands. If they thought the explosion was going to be as deadly as the one they saw on the news, this method of taking cover wouldn't be even remotely effective. (00:24:40)

No Retreat, No Surrender picture

Stupidity: Scott spread his lie about the protagonist telling Dean, who tells Frank (without details, just that the guy is 'a good fighter'). So barely one person (acting rather childish for a supposed master) has any animosity towards the new fella. There are over two dozens people in the class (in a 'good guys' gym, not one of those evil moustache twirling villain dens) and yet everyone is happy and cheerful watching a black belt beat the snot out of a schoolboy redbelt, for no reason. Most people there are grown-ups and there are black belts; they should be horrified or at least VERY puzzled. (00:30:00)

The Virgin Suicides picture

Stupidity: Dr. Horniker (MD, PhD) advised Mr. And Mrs. Lisbon that Cecilia could use a kind of "outlet outside the codification of school" and should "interact with males her own age." The Lisbons did arrange a party for Cecilia, but the boys who were invited (or came) were somewhat older. Cecilia, at age 13, would be in Jr. High School. Tim and Parkie were 16-17. Chase looked a little younger than the other boys, but none of the boys were really "males her own age." Had the boys been 12-13 or even 14 and Cecilia's older sisters not present, Cecilia may have a better experience - and not jumped to her death during the party. (00:07:35)

Boyhood picture

Stupidity: Liv was a graduate psychology student when she met Bill and, after marriage and being physically abused, knew that the leaving Bill put her in a (potentially) very dangerous situation. It is best if the abuser does not know where the victim is "hiding" after separation, but Liv brought along Carol to pick up the kids - and they were going to be staying at Carol's house.

Suggested correction: She brought Carol along as a chaperone/protection when she picked up her kids. She didn't announce to Bill that that would be where she was going to be staying, she only told her kids that when they had already driven away from the house. Bill didn't seem to know who Carol was anyway. Even if he did manage to find out where she went, she could have easily got a restraining order against him.

Phaneron

It is more likely that she brought Carol along for emotional support and to act as a witness. If she were looking for protection, she would have used a police escort. It was implied they were going to be staying at Carol's, but, even if not, Carol's presence offered Bill a hint of where to start looking for Liv, and there should not be any leads. Liv unwittingly put Carol in a potentially dangerous situation - if Bill went to Carol's looking for Liv, and Carol truly did not know where she went, Bill would insist that she did and threaten or do worse if Carol didn't tell him. Remember how Bill drilled all the kids about where Liv went, checked their phones, accused Sam of knowing more, then got them into the car and drove like a maniac? Bill has a temper and propensity toward violence (at least when drinking, which he did everyday). Court orders take time to get, but are not very effective. Numerous women who had restraining orders against abusers ended up six feet under.

Morbius picture

Stupidity: Despite being wanted for murder, escaping jail, and having his face plastered on the front page of the newspaper, Morbius meets Martine in a public diner and doesn't even make an attempt to conceal his identity while they are seated. Even shaving off his beard and cutting his hair short would have gone a long way in making him more unrecognizable.

A Haunting in Venice picture

Stupidity: One of the major reveals and plot twists of the movie lies in the fact that a certain character is an accomplice of the medium. The reveal, though, does not explain at all how said individual managed to fool Poirot; the trick briefly shown involves a simple rope pull to open a door. Poirot was looking exactly for that kind of trick, paces around the room constantly on maximum alert, and examines the door itself later. Likewise, it does not explain where and how they could hide the stuffed animal.

Fear picture

Stupidity: There's no reason whatsoever for Mr. Walker to trash the other rooms of David's partners. Someone as tough-minded as Mr. Walker would have been able to recognize the consequences of his behavior. He could have simply trashed David's room and let it be. It simply seems like a plot device to justify David's gang attacking the Walker residence.

Constantine picture

Stupidity: How would a devout catholic like Angela not believe in the devil, as she tells Constantine? Makes no sense.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Some Christians don't believe in the literal personification of the Devil. They see him more as a metaphor for all human sins. So according to them, the Devil is not something to blame evil on. Everybody has God and the Devil in them.

Encounter picture

Stupidity: At the very beginning of the movie, law enforcement is depicted executing a no-knock warrant. They approach a house surreptitiously and use a ram to open the door with no warning. When they arrived at the scene, all the cars and trucks in the raid were using flashing lights and wailing sirens. So much for the element of surprise.

The Untouchables picture

Stupidity: There is no logical reason for a bookkeeper to be present at the liquor deal on the Canadian border and even less of a reason for him to bring the primary ledger with him. This is compounded by the fact this is merely a secondary bookkeeper and the main bookkeeper is subsequently subpoenaed by the district attorney.

Don't Tell a Soul picture

Stupidity: After stealing the candy tin full of money, Joey gave it to Matt. Standing in front of the house, Matt opened the tin to see all the cash ($12,600). Joey asked him if anyone saw him, and Matt replied, "No. Let's go before they do." Instead of "hiding" the candy tin in his backpack, Matt carried the tin out in the open - and soon ran into a man wearing a security guard uniform.
