The Big Bang Theory

The Thanksgiving Decoupling - S7-E9

Continuity mistake: When Sheldon and Mike are drunk on the couch after Howard leaves, they are toasting with the beer cans. Sheldon has his in his right hand, but when Bernardette came in, the can is in his left. A little bit later, after he says "she's so tiny", the can moves back to his right hand.

Show generally

Factual error: Characters sometimes talk to one another on video calls, and a character (A) often watches these from an angle rather than face on, allowing the viewer to see both character A and the character on the call (B). When this happens, character B is shown turned a little to one side, to give the impression that they are looking directly at character A (as they would be if they were present in the same room). In reality, this means that character B is looking off to one side of their monitor and not at the image of character A, something that it makes no sense to do. No matter what angle the laptop is shown from, provided character B is visible, they should appear to be facing the viewer.

Suggested correction: Since we almost always see these video calls using full-screen, people sitting side-by-side would be on different sides of the screen. You wouldn't look into the webcam itself to see them. You would look at the screen, and move your head slightly to look at the left part versus the right.

The Rothman Disintegration - S5-E17

Continuity mistake: After Amy returns to the apartment for the Grease DVD and discovers Penny doesn't like the painting, she then exits the apartment with the painting and the DVD with her. When Amy says to Penny she doesn't need her pity, the DVD is placed above the hanging string of the painting. In the next shot, as she walks into the hallway, the DVD is suddenly almost half below the string.

The Prestidigitation Approximation - S4-E18

Continuity mistake: Near the end of the episode, in the canteen scene, Howard shows the card trick to Sheldon again. The card at the bottom of the deck is the 2 of hearts as he takes them from the box. Sheldon then takes this card from near the top of the deck when Howard puts them on the table. The deck is not shuffled between times.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the series Sheldon knocks on Penny's door only once. Later in the series Sheldon explains he has always knocked 3 times because he walked in on his father with another woman.

Suggested correction: Sheldon goes through phases of his mannerisms. This is pointed out a few times across the show.

The Locomotive Manipulation - S7-E15

Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode when Lennard asks Sheldon about his train ride, he says that he kissed Amy on the lips, and says that it tasted like the brownies that they had that for dessert. But they were eating a tart of some type, with a shortbread crust. No brownies were on the table.

The Euclid Alternative - S2-E5

Question: Though it comes up in other episodes as well, this one is focused on Sheldon needing a ride everywhere he goes because he can't drive, not to mention his not being welcome on the bus. Of course, this story element would be nonexistent if there was a simple answer, but it does beg the question: Does Pasadena not have taxicabs?

MFWills

Chosen answer: It does. The variable cleanliness of the cab and the habit of taxi drivers to engage customers in small talk would be too much for Sheldon to handle, and not an option for him.

Captain Defenestrator

Answer: Sheldon DID finally use a taxi when going to the airport to see and propose to Amy in New Jersey.
