If I Were a Carpenter - S1-E1

Corrected entry: Dennis and Neville are push-starting Oz's car after they have stopped for a break. This wouldn't help, as the car has an automatic gearbox. The automatic gear selector on these cars (Ford Zephyr) is on the steering column and can be seen when they break down on the motorway.

Correction: In fact you can push-start an automatic. Instead of popping the clutch, which you don't have - when you get up to speed you drop the shift from neutral to drive. Not good for the gearbox, but it works.

The Accused - S1-E6

Corrected entry: In the police station, the police officer is yelling loudly at Neville in German. Why didn't they find an interpreter as it is obvious that he is a British builder who probably speaks very little German? Also, why would you get aggressive with someone who is obviously scared?

Correction: Just becuase someone is English doesn't mean they can't speak Germen, at the initial 'interview' the officer may have just thought that Nev was faking not being able to understand. He wasn't being aggresive, it's just the way German happens to sound to English ears, I know I hear German voices all the time and it often sounds as though they are shouting and being aggresive.

Season 3 generally

Corrected entry: The closing theme song throughout Series 3 of Auf Weidershen Pet was "Why Aye Man" by Mark Knopfler (of "Dire Straits" fame). For added "authenticity", backing vocals on this track were sung by Jimmy Nail (Oz) and Tim Healy (Dennis). However, the lyrics of the song refer to the storyline of series One and NOT to series three...

Correction: This should not be considered a mistake because only the chorus is sung. Many closing theme songs have very little to do with the show.

Show generally

Plot hole: In the first series, Bomber mentions 'City's my team', referring to Bristol City, and dislikes the other Bristol based football club (Rovers). If this is the case, why is he wearing the distictive blue-and-white quartered shirt of Bristol Rovers in series 4? I know that people change allegiances, but it's very unlikely.

Season 1 generally

Trivia: Jimmy Nail's girlfriend, Miriam, (now his wife) heard about the auditions for Auf Wiedersehen Pet, and suggested that he try out to be an extra. (Nail had already had a brief appearance as an extra in the 1971 movie "Get Carter"). At the time (1982), Jimmy was in a band called The Crabs and he used to perform in a dress and hobnailed boots. Nail reportedly turned up late for the auditions, had to double park his car, and was very rude to the casting director holding the auditions. Little did he know then that his "bluntness" was exactly what the casting director was looking for...
