My Cousin Vinny (1992)

Corrected entry: When the two boys, William and Stan, drive away from the "sack-o-suds" they do so in a controlled manner and never "burn rubber" as they leave. They never put any tire marks on the ground as they leave. A huge error considering that the trial turned on the 2 sets of tire marks.

Correction: That is the whole point. Those two didn't make the tread marks. But they had to prove that their car was incapable of making them because no one would believe them if they simply said they didn't.

Corrected entry: When Doc and Marty go to Hill Valley High School in 1955 (to look for his parents), the bell rings and everyone in the corridors leaves and goes into several classrooms. About 2 or 3 minutes later, when Marty and Doc are discussing how to get his parents together, the bell rings again and everyone in the classrooms comes back out to the corridors. It can't be because of registration because when Doc and Marty arrive, the bell is heard ringing and people are in the corridors suggesting that either registration or a lesson had just finished.

Correction: Some schools have "homeroom" which is only about 4 or 5 minutes long.

Corrected entry: Skylar has already been admitted to Stanford Med when the movie takes place. However, there are several references to the fact that Skylar is taking organic chemistry (O-Chem). Since O-Chem is a requirement for most undergraduate pre-med courses, it is unrealistic for her to be taking it in the last semester of her undergrad career. Additionally, despite the fact that O-chem isn't required for the MCAT, it is unlikely that a top school like Stanford would accept her without seeing her O-Chem grades.

Correction: When I was in college, I had a friend who got accepted into Johns Hopkins (even more prestigious) while currently taking o-chem. Plus it could have been a graduate level organic class.

The Rock (1996)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Nicholas Cage is supposedly making love to his girlfriend on the rooftop, Cage gets a phone call and has to leave. When his girlfriend gets up you can see her underwear.

Correction: It is called simply pushing the panties to the side. I am sure that it has been done many times.

A Perfect Murder (1998)

Corrected entry: The night of the murder, Emily is just getting into the bath when Steven leaves. At least an hour later, she is still in there when he calls. That's one long bath.

Correction: Your point is? I have taken longer baths than that.

The Goonies (1985)

Corrected entry: The movie says that the Goonies' house is in danger because it's wanted for a golf course. But they live on a very steep and hilly street - exactly the opposite of the open, flat (if with low hills) kind of land needed for a golf course.

Correction: So...you've never heard of a mountain golf course? Hills and mountains add to the difficulty. Golf courses do not require flat land.

I live in the Goondocks and you obviously haven't seen the house. No way was a golf course or anything related to one going to be put on that site. Strange they picked Uppertown but we love love love the Goonies and all the fans so no harm no foul.

Correction: They need land in order to build maintenance sheds and buildings. Maybe that is what was going on the Walsh land.

Correction: The idea of residential demolition is almost always taking the landscape down to the base. During the 70s-80s in the US there were hundreds of thousands of flat, or mostly flat, housing developments made out of very hilly, rocky terrain. Seeing as they would more than likely need to remove all of the dug utilities and update them anyway, the demo/scaping team will be pulling up well below the water table in the entire area. This would not only flatten out enough to build a golf course/country club, but would explain the "pretty soon there won't even be a goondocks anymore" line.

Correction: Literally what a sand trap has is a big hill spot then a slope in which the sand begins. Some of the larger courses have ponds in which they have uneven hills. I mean, play Wii sports and you see hills.

The Goonies (1985)

Corrected entry: In the end, Rosalita is the one who saves them all by running over and shouting (in Spanish, which Mouth translates) for them not to sign the contract, since they have the jewels they can use to get the money they need. But since it's already been established that she doesn't understand English, how would she know that they needed money? How would she know that they're signing something precisely because they didn't have it? Mouth never told her, and nobody else speaks any Spanish to have told her.

Correction: Rosalita was hired by the Walsh family to help them prepare to move out of the house. It's not a stretch to assume she was told (and understood) the reason they had to move.

Correction: Simply because she wasn't told in the movie doesn't mean that Mouth or someone else didn't tell her at some other point.

Hitch (2005)

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, when Hitch jumps on Sarah's car, she brakes and he falls off the roof. Sarah claps her hands in front of her face and gets out of the car. There is no time for her to have switched the engine off or put the car in neutral. As she gets out of the car, either the engine should still be running or the car should make a jump forward because it has a manual transmission. (01:52:15)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Not neccessarily. I have a manual car and everytime I brake, I automatically shift into neutral out of habit. I have found that I do this even when I am slamming on my brakes to avoid hitting something.

Show generally

Corrected entry: Season 7 episode "Gym Neighbours". At the bit before the theme song, Arthur annoys Doug by reading the subtitles and listening to the sound at the same time. At the end of the sentence it says "peeeeeerfect", Arthur reads it exactly the same way. It is unlikely for subtitles to have been written in such way.

Correction: Actually, I watch movies with subtitles on and they often have spellings like that.

Corrected entry: Even though many buildings and even the American flag freeze completely solid in some scenes, this fails to happen to any of the main characters, despite the fact that some sleep outside in tents during a snowstorm without a jacket or hat.

Correction: Well, A) the people are moving with jackets and gear to keep warm. B) Things freeze when the super-cooled air comes down and the main characters were inside then.

shortdanzr

Correction: During the big freeze, the main characters in the library kept the fire going and huddled in the general area of the fire to stay warm. Jack and Jason slept inside the Wendy's with the tent set up and the fires burning on the grill. It was only in the eye of the storm that they froze completely solid.

Flightplan (2005)

Corrected entry: The air marshal's plan has a big hole in it: he was counting on nobody remembering seeing the girl. Even though she was playing under the seats, which makes it conceivably possible that nobody saw her, the air marshal could not possibly have counted on this happening. This is obviously a plan-breaking flaw because all it would take is one person besides the mother who had seen her and Jodi Foster's story is corroborated.

Correction: It doesn't matter if that might have happened. Not a movie mistake, just bad planning.

Speed (1994)

Corrected entry: Howard Payne says to Jack at the beginning when they are talking on the phone, that if the bus drops below 50mph it blows up, so how come when we finally see the bus explode at the airport we see the speedometer on the bomb explode at 50 not below it. (00:28:40 - 01:26:55)

The-Immortal

Correction: Probably because the speedometer on the bus is analogue and the speedometer underneath is digital and more accurate. As soon as the speed hit 49.999 mph it blew up.

Ladder 49 (2004)

Corrected entry: When Jack is rappelling down the side of the building to save the man, the man grabs Jack when Jack's not ready. They begin swinging around. Jack's solution is to break through a window. Before the window breaks, there's a bar through the window, creating two panes. Just before the window breaks, the bar is gone, and the window is one solid pane of glass.

Sarah Van Winkle

Correction: Actually I just watched this scene in slow motion and it is always two panes of glass even right before it breaks. However, right after the two panes of glass break, you can see Morrison push the bar out of the way and it is never seen again.

Corrected entry: At the end, when Jill jumps into Jimmy's arms she tells Oz that Cynthia is waiting for him and that he would know where. The where is the airport, but there is nothing during the movie that would indicate that he would know that.

Correction: The whole point of this is to show how well Oz knows her.

The Pacifier (2005)

Corrected entry: When Shane is assigning tracking devices and code names (Red Leader, etc.), Seth leaves and goes upstairs. Later Shane realizes he is gone, and when he goes looking for him he is yelling "Red 1. Red 1." but Seth wouldn't have known what he was talking about, since he already left.

Correction: But he is already Red 1 in Shane's mind. Which is all that counts.

Sahara (2005)

Corrected entry: When the captured Al and Dirk are cuffed to the metal platform on the back of the truck, They get free by pushing themselves off the back of the truck. They walk through the sands of the Sahara, without water, cuffed to a heavy, metal platform. Without water and with the high temperatures and the metal platform making it even hotter, it wouldn't take long for them to die.

Correction: There is never a description of time nor distance they walked. They might have only been out there for several minutes.

Sahara (2005)

Corrected entry: This error is in the part where Eva, Dirk and Al are trying to jump on the train. You have three camels by the tracks and the characters buried in the sand, ready to jump as the train passes. Sand gets hot very easily and in the Sahara the temperature reaches 50C. If someone would be buried in the hot sands of the Sahara, the person would be dead very fast.

Correction: They might have stayed right next to the camels until the train was upon them and then buried themselves. You don't know how long they were buried. A survival technique used by Legionnaires is to dig down into sand and lie down, preferably with material to cover shallow trench. Only a few inches down, the temperature can be substantially cooler.

Saw (2004)

Corrected entry: The room where Lawrence and Adam are being held in is at least 10 feet underground (we know this because Zep climbs down a ladder whilst running away from Tapp). Lawrence shouldn't be able to get a mobile phone signal, yet he manages to receive two calls.

Migster

Correction: Whether you get a cell phone singal is dependent upon a lot of factors. The depth is not the only one. It would be possible to have a signal.

Home Fries (1998)

Corrected entry: When the two police officers inspect the dead guy sitting on the bench, they wonder why he came all the way out in the to have a heart attack, yet wouldn't they have seen the ridiculous amount of bullet holes in the ground in front of him that caused the heart attack?

Correction: Stupid cops are not a movie mistake.

War of the Worlds (2005)

Corrected entry: In the scene when they are hiding out at Ray's ex-wife's house, Ray throws a piece of bread with peanut butter on one side at the window, and it sticks peanut butter side against the glass. In the next shot, it is a sandwich with the peanut butter between slices of bread.

Correction: No, actually it is always just peanut butter on a piece of bread. Granted the position does change slightly, but it is still the same.
