Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man is being gassed by the Green Goblin, the mouthpiece of the Green Goblin's mask is open, and Osborne's lips are visible moving as he speaks to J. Jonah Jameson. Later in the scene where Spider-Man fights the Green Goblin in the burning building, a close-up of his mask is shown again, but this time there appears to be some kind of black mesh screen in the mouth of his mask.

Other mistake: After we see a shot of the prison bus driving along a road, the white, balding jail guard says, "20 miles to Benard. We should be there in 40 minutes." Not long after, one of the inmates begins to foam at the mouth. The black prisoner cries, "Hey, somebody, get in here quick!" The black jail guard stands up to unlock the cage, and the white, balding guy says to him, "We're almost to the prison." This is impossible considering he just mentioned the prison was 20 miles away. Question: When the kidnappers leave the barn after putting Amy in the freezer, why doesn't Jeff try harder to pull the latch off the door and free his wife? If I were in his situation, I would be desperate to free her and run away so we could call police. He tries a few times to pry the bar off, but eventually gives up and runs into the house. This doesn't seem to be a very wise strategy to adopt.

Character mistake: There are signs out front as the Spenglers arrive at the dirt farm. One of the signs is a call back to a scene in Ghostbusters 1984. In the scene, Ray quotes the book of Revelation: "And I looked, and he opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake. And the sun turned black as sack cloth, and the moon turned blood." When Finn Wolfhard reads it he misquotes the line saying "The sun became as black as cloth."
