Raising Helen (2004)

Question: What was so important about the song lyrics in the letter Lindsay gave to Helen? What didn't Jenny get when she said that Helen's letter wasn't a letter and that it was just a bunch of nonsensical lyrics?

Answer: Helen's letter was actually the lyrics to the song "Whip It" by Devo. This is the same song that Helen gives to Lindsay for her birthday, along with the funny red hats from the music video. The song is obviously a shared memory between the two sisters, and one that Jenny never was a part of. The fact that Helen's letter was just song lyrics just shows how close the sisters really were.

King Kong (2005)

Question: When Jack and Carl are looking at the map, and one of them says "What's that?", we get a close-up of what looks like a blob to me. What do they see in the image?

Answer: They see what looks like the face of a gorilla, but they conclude that it must be a skull for Skull Island.

Clueless (1995)

Question: Cher claims her jeep has dual side airbags. That seems ridiculous for an open top vehicle. Does that model really come with side airbags, or was that supposed to be a 'clueless' comment?

thedoorman

Chosen answer: When she says "dual side", Cher is referring to the driver side and passenger side airbags (which are installed in the dashboard in front of each seat), not airbags on the side of the Jeep (aka in the doors).

Ral0618

The model year of the jeep in Clueless doesn't have even have driver or passenger airbags. The jeep in Clueless is at best a 1995 and Jeep didn't put airbags in until 1997.

General questions

There was a children's show I watched back in the 80's. It had puppet people and talking vegetable puppets. I think it was called "pinwheel" or something to that effect, because the title song said "pinwheel, pinwheel, spinning around - look to my pinwheel and see what I've found." If that's the title, do you know where I can find info on it?

Answer: You are correct--The show "Pinwheel" was on Nickelodeon back in the early 80s. For more info, check out the IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0224947.

Sex and the City (1998)

The one - S6-E12

Question: In the beginning of the epsiode when Carrie first meets Aleksandr in the gallery there is instrumental music playing in the background. This music also shows up in different scenes throughout the episode. Does anyone know the name of this piece of music and where I can find it?

Answer: It's called 'Pavane' by Regina Carter and can be found on the CD "Paganini: After a Dream".

Ral0618

Question: After the bathroom scene, when Diaz is putting eye drops in her eye, Applegate says that she had just witnessed a "glory hole", or something sounding like that. What is a glory hole?

Answer: Without needing an "X" rating: A glory hole is most commonly found in men's restrooms, used for sexual purposes. A quick web search might provide more (yet too much) information.

Chosen answer: Two hotels were using during filming, The Roosevelt Hotel and The Waldorf-Astoria, both located in New York City.

Question: Was Doom II (the game played in the Ultimart) ever ported to an arcade machine? I think it would be difficult to produce a real coin-op version of the game (a lot of custom hardware and programming - I don't think any arcade hardware could support Doom back then). Making a prop would be easy by sticking a PC with a TV monitor (to prevent flicker) in a cabinet mock-up, or even just run a pre-recorded tape of someone playing Doom and just have the actor mime it.

Answer: No, Doom II was never available in a commerical arcade cabinet. It must have been specifically designed for the movie.

50 First Dates (2004)

Question: Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the "island" sound versions of the various songs played throughout the movie? (like somewhere over the rainbow) I have the soundtrack, but it doesn't include all the songs.

angelus tumultuor

Chosen answer: A complete listing can be found on the IMDB page for the movie. Specifically if you're looking for "Over the Rainbow", that was performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343660/soundtrack).

Ral0618

Question: I'm guessing that Jude Law's character's face at the end of the film had something to do with the fight they had in the hotel, where Tom Hanks's character shot him in the face. But why did he have all those little marks, if Tom Hank's character only shot him once?

Answer: Tom Hanks shot at a glass lamp, which shattered right before Jude's face, causing lots of shards of glass to cut his face.

Ral0618

Were they scarred or stitched because it bothers me.

Scarred. He was injured by a bunch of tiny shards of glass, something that could pretty much heal on its own and wouldn't need stitches.

jshy7979

I think that's why McGuire shoots Sullivan out of revenge... He wasn't ordered to but after his disfigurement he wants revenge and kills Sullivan That's my take... After all Al says it's over after Connor Rooney goes down but it's now personal for McGuire.

Answer: I think that McGuire's last kill was personal. I think that after Sullivan deforms his face McGuire is out for blood. After all Al said after he kills Connor it's over. So it probably was but McGuire's kill was personal because of his deformity. It was not because he was instructed to kill Sullivan.

General questions

I remember watching an old TV show, time period I think similar to 'Who's the Boss' and 'Three's company', but i can't remember the name. About a family, the dad built a robot daughter. She had dark hair, they had a real son too, the neighbour's daughter (red hair, I think) had a crush on him. Episodes include the robot girl going in the swimming pool and breaking, and the boy making a black and white film for class.

Answer: The show was called 'Small Wonder'. Check out the IMDb page for more info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088610/.

Answer: He's just another "member" of their video night group, and the character probably wasn't needed for the whole movie.

General questions

I used to watch a show either on Disney (before it was free) or Nickelodeon, it was about two store mannequins that would come to life every night when the store closed and then do crazy things and have to be back before the store opened the next day. The title or any info would be great.

Saramarie

Chosen answer: "Today's Special" - the mannequin was Jeff, and there was a woman who set up displays. There was also a small mouse named Muffy, and a night watchman who was a puppet type figure, Sam. Jeff wore a special hat that allowed him to become human, and if it fell off he was a mannequin again.

Question: Can anyone tell me what Katherine is drinking in the morning - the greenish blue drink - about which she says "Don't ask what it is"? I know its never answered in the movie, but can anyone make an educated guess?

Answer: It's a health drink that is primarily made of seaweed and sea-kelp. It's actually not that bad tasting.

Ral0618

It's "Green Machine" by naked or "original super food" by Odwalla.

Question: Was the doctor (the owner of the sailboat in the beginning) in on Laura's planned disappearance? Or was the bad weather just a coincidence and gave her the chance to escape? Just though it was weird because her husband commented that she only gets on a boat like once a year, so I don't know how she could have planned her escape so perfectly.

weetie21

Chosen answer: No, the doctor was not in on her plan. She had her escape planned for a long time, but was waiting for the right time. The stormy weather on the boat provided the "perfect" time for her to put her plan into action.

8 Mile (2002)

Question: Not directly related to the film, but to Eminem's song "Sing for the Moment". At one point he says "you're full of sh*t too Guererra, that was a fist that hit you". Who is Guererra?

Answer: In June 2000, Eminem got in trouble for having a gun at a nightclub. John Guererra was a bouncer at the club that Eminem thought kissed his (then) wife. Guererra alledged that Eminem pistol-whipped him, but Eminem continues to deny the charges.
