My Rite of Passage - S5-E2

Continuity mistake: When J.D. walks up to the table where his interns are sitting, Keith and Rex are fighting with their table knives and have them crossed. The shot switches to a view from the other end of the table and suddenly Rex's knife is on the table and he is facing J.D. but Keith's knife is up in the air as if he was still fighting with Rex. There is not enough time for Rex to put his knife down and turn to face J.D.

Stress Position - S4-E13

Continuity mistake: During the opening, the water bottle the woman picks up has significantly more blood on it when she holds it than it did in the previous shot when we see it rolling down the stairs.

My New Game - S4-E3

Continuity mistake: Right near the beginning, Jordan adjusts Cox's stethoscope and collar. The end of the stethoscope then goes back and forth between inside and outside of his coat for the remainder of the scene.

Hudson Hawk (1991)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy and Darwin Mayflower are in the back of the limo, Darwin dives out and the door slams immediately before Tommy has time to catch it. The shot changes to outside the limo and Darwin is just now jumping from the limo. It is not just the same shot from a different angle because this time the door stays open much longer, long enough for the limo to drive out of the shot. From this angle there would have been more than enough time for Tommy to grab the door.

Law & Order (1990)

Quit Claim - S18-E7

Continuity mistake: Near the end, when McCoy and Cutter walk into Cutter's office, McCoy closes the door. On the back of the door is a white board and McCoy writes "Fri 12:00" on the board and then underlines it. When McCoy opens the door to leave, "Fri. 12:00" is still there but the line under it is gone.

My Sex Buddy - S2-E11

Continuity mistake: When the family goes to throw Carla through the window, watch the window they throw her towards. The window is made up of at least three sections of glass, each no more than 2-3 feet wide with metal posts between sections. When the shot changes and Carla (well, the dummy of Carla) hits, the window is now only two sections, each about 5 feet wide. The easiest way to tell is watch the metal post farthest to the right. When the shot changes to outside, that post, which should now be farthest to the left, has vanished.

Choosers of the Slain

Factual error: Mike and his team fly into Vegas and meet their contact there. Mike is told that he has to fly on to Nellis AFB to a briefing. The author also says that Nellis AFB is "in the middle of thousands of miles of just about nothing." The problem is the Nellis AFB and Las Vegas share a common boundary and are less than a ten-minute drive apart. Nellis is not in the middle of nothing and to fly there would take longer than driving.

My Perspective - S6-E9

Continuity mistake: When Turk marks the location for the surgery on Pvt. Dancer, he makes a horizontal mark on the left side of Dancer's abdomen. You can also see a small scar on Dancer's right side opposite the mark. A couple of shots later, Dancer is shown from the front and the mark has now switched to the right side above the scar.

My Old Lady - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: When JD is at the birthday party, watch the chocolate on his face. At one point there are two separate bits of chocolate on his left cheek, then the shot changes and they are gone. The shot changes again and they are back.

My Friend With Money - S6-E5

Revealing mistake: Watch the line appear on the wall as Kelso cuts through the wall into the "Luxury Suite." The line is being cut with a round, drywall cutting bit such as would be used with a drill or Dremel tool. You can see it spinning as the cut is made. However, when Kelso has pushed down the wall and points the tool at Cox and the Janitor, he is now holding a standard reciprocating saw with a flat blade which would cut very differently than what was shown.

Goodbye and Good Luck - S8-E7

Continuity mistake: In the Season 8 episode "Goodbye & Good Luck," near the beginning, Sara and Warrick bump into each other and Warrick drops his medicine. During their conversation, Warrick squeezes Sara's shoulder and then drops his hand. The shot instantly cuts to a view from behind Sara and Warrick's hand is back on her shoulder with no time (or reason) for him to have put it back.

Guy

Self-made - S7-E7

Continuity mistake: Near the end, the detectives give Hawkins the murdered woman's manuscript to read and compare. The stack of papers they give him is easily 300-400 pages thick and held together with a large binder clip. Moments later, in a fit of anger, Hawkins throws the manuscript in the air and papers fly everywhere. The problem is that he throws no more than 50 pages in the air.

My Interpretation - S2-E20

Visible crew/equipment: During the scene where JD is fantasizing about dancing with the German patient to "99 Luft Balloons," a crew member's green-sleeved arm is momentarily visible throwing balloons into the shot.

Shanghai Knights (2003)

Continuity mistake: During the fight with the street gang, Jackie Chan is about to jump onto the cloth roof to send a gang member flying away. Watch the first half of the shot (from behind Chan) and the cloth in the section Chan is about to jump into is hanging down in the space between the joists and is very slack. When the shot changes from the front to show Chan jumping and landing into the cloth, the cloth is now stretched tight for his landing.

Dummy - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Ned and Chuck are making a pie, Ned picks up the unfinished pie crust off the counter so Chuck can put more flour down. After she sifts the large pile of flour on to the counter, Ned moves to put the crust back down and now it is easily twice the size it was when he picked it up. There is no way for him to have rolled the crust larger off camera because Chuck was in the way and that was the whole reason he picked the crust up.

Flushed Away (2006)

Trivia: During the scene where Rita and Roddy are about to get frozen, keep an eye on the already frozen characters. There is one wearing black pants, white shirt, black vest and an empty holster. A dead ringer for Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back.

General questions

Why are individual years of a TV show referred to as a series on the site? Is it a European expression? The reason I'm asking is because in America series refers to the whole show (the series Lost, the series finale) and each individual year is called a season (Season 1, the season finale). If it is a European expression, what is the entire run of the show called?

Guy

Chosen answer: That's the English expression, yes. We use "series" to refer to both the overall run of the show and, with the appropriate number or year added, to what the US would refer to as a "season". As complete conjecture, it may have come about because in the UK we don't really have a TV "season" as such - while some shows start in September, our shows are shorter, and as such start and stop randomly throughout the year, meaning the word "season" wouldn't really be appropriate.

General questions

I am looking for the title of a movie I saw in the late 70s/early 80s. It was a swords and sorcery type of film. The only scene I have clear memory of is that one of the main characters is an archer. There is a bird that helps the main characters out and when a feather falls from the bird, it turns into a bundle of magic arrows for the archer. Anyone have any idea about this movie?

Guy

Chosen answer: Sounds like "The Archer: Fugitive from the Empire". It was a made-for-tv movie/pilot from 1981.

The Black Dahlia (2006)

Continuity mistake: When Hartnett's character is having dinner with the Dahlia look-a-like's family, at one point he puts a forkful of food in his mouth and then his hand dangles there with his elbow on the table and the fork in front of his left shoulder. Cut to the next shot of the table and now his elbow is off the table and his fork is much lower and over his plate. The old man is talking the entire time so there is no time lag for him to have moved his hand.

Under Siege 2 (1995)

Deliberate mistake: During the scene where Ryback is fighting Penn (the grey-haired mercenary) in the kitchen, watch for the shot where Ryback flips Penn. The film has been sped up and the result looks disjointed and out of place. The characters are moving FAR too fast for it to look natural.
