A Quiet Place (2018)

Question: Why are they using so many candles/gas lamps when they have electricity, esp in the Monopoly scene?

Jizzmopper

Answer: Electricity would be a precious commodity, to be saved for essential purposes/emergencies. Why waste it when you have candles/gas lamps, which are far less resource-intensive?

A Quiet Place (2018)

Question: Why did the dad sacrifice himself when all he had to do was toss a hard object at a metal object to distract the monster?

Jizzmopper

Answer: Because there's no guarantee that would work...the creatures don't just go insane for any sound they hear. They've already discovered there are humans (or at least, something they can kill/eat) within the truck, so just hearing some random noise might not be enough. Instead, he makes it clear to them that he is a human and vulnerable, so they switch their attention to him, knowing that they can get him with less work than it would take to rip the truck apart.

Monster Hunter (2020)

Other mistake: Capt Artemis offers Tony Jaa's hunter character an intact partial Hershey bar that she pulls from her pants pocket. The film takes place in a brutally hot desert that would've turned that chocolate bar into chocolate goo not long after the start of the film. If the heat hadn't melted the bar, it would've been smooshed by the continuous hand-to-hand combat between the two characters. (00:45:22)

Factual error: In the scenes where Gardner is messaging his Earth based female friend Tulsa from his Mars home, their communication is shown as being in real time. In truth, there would be minimum of a 4 min lag between messages due to the distance. (00:24:00)

Suggested correction: The tech is supposed to be highly advanced. This is at least kept consistent throughout the film as all communication between planets is in real time.

DetectiveGadget85

There is no tech that can alter the laws of physics that we know of. The near future setting of the film limits the scope of what's feasible.

The Wicker Man (2006)

Other mistake: When Malus is talking to the female cop about the station wagon crash, he asks her who the woman and child were, even after she has told him that there are no bodies to identify, and no car registration.

Continuity mistake: When Farmer Taggert and his older son are chasing the Creeper as he's dragging away the younger boy, the sun is at their backs. As they watch the Creeper fly away with the son a minute later, the sun is now in front of them, having moved 180 degrees.

The Wicker Man (2006)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where the truck collides with the station wagon, there is a medium shot of Malus picking up the doll, followed by a closer shot from the opposite angle, followed by a return to the same medium shot as the truck smashes into the car, but now Malus isn't seen, although he hasn't moved and the shot is the same distance, angle and position.
