Deliberate mistake: When Jack fights the impostor, they are roughly the same height, but when the impostor is revealed to be Angelica, she is suddenly much shorter than him. (00:21:30 - 00:23:50)
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
1 deliberate mistake
Directed by: Rob Marshall
Starring: Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane
Factual error: In the courtroom scene, the Judge uses a gavel (the small wooden hammer). These are not, and have never been, used in British courts.
Angelica: Treasure! There is a chest with jewels. Jewels with the power to rule the wind and tide.
Jack Sparrow: You're making that up.
Angelica: Wait! I am with child. Yours.
Jack Sparrow: I don't recall that we ever had...
Angelica: You were drunk.
Jack Sparrow: I've actually never been that drunk.
Trivia: When Philip comes to the defense of the mermaid that was captured by saying that she has a name, Blackbeard asks him to say what it is. Philip responds that her name is Syrena which is spelled similarly to sirena, the Spanish word for mermaid.
Question: Jack seems to be in the habit of getting smacked across the face by a woman a lot. In a deleted scene, it shows Jack getting smacked in the face by a mermaid. Why was this scene deleted from the movie?

Answer: Although this has been a running gag throughout the series, the filmmakers probably felt it quite didn't fit into the storyline or else thought the joke had simply worn itself out. It may also have been intended to be used for promoting the film and in theatrical trailers.
