Mortal Kombat

Answer: Since the entire fight is focused on Liu Kang and Reptile, he could have possibly waited to see what the outcome of the fight was.

Answer: Wouldn't Johnny Cage want to go in to help his "mate", rather than stand their and watch? The question here (because Reptile is a secret character in MK1 and Raiden saying "In Outworld, you will find another guy") is that can Johnny Cage interfere with the fight, or is that against the rules in this tournament?

oobs

Not only is it against the rules, but Raiden never said they'd find another guy. What he said was, "You'll find another guide." The guide being Kitana.

That is indeed against the rules.

Question: Apparently the character Noob Saibot also appears in this film but I can't find him anywhere. Where does he feature?

Answer: Noob Saibot is not in this film. He makes an appearance in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation as the warrior who emerges from General Ermac, the red-clothed Lin Kuei warrior.

Question: One mistake mentions a car visible in the background of the Scorpion VS Johnny Cage fight. But for the life of me, I can't find it. In what particular shot is it visible? (Or if nothing else, does anyone have the timecode for it?).

Answer: Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dz0YU0jJr4 Time stamp is 0:57 I'd say. You can briefly see a car moving behind the trees in 1 shot, it's less than a second long. Its left of the middle of the screen.

Question: At the end of "Mortal Kombat Conquest," Shoug Tsung and Kitana get killed, but in "Mortal Kombat 1," they are alive, and I was wondering about that.

Answer: Two explinations are possible: 1) Because the show was cancelled, we never got to see a later episode when they were presumably brought back to life; or 2) the show takes place out of continuity with the film series. Both explainations are perfectly valid.

Answer: The unproduced second season was going to show everyone being brought back to life by the elder gods. But the series was cancelled due to higher-than-expected production costs.

Question: Something that was bugging me, but maybe someone who knows more about guns can help: On Shang Tsung's ship, Sub-Zero freezes & breaks off the front of Sonya's gun. What good does this do? The firing mechanisms are towards the rear of the gun. She could have fired off a shot, just not a second one. Freezing the front only locks the slide, part of the barrel and return spring, right? A round must have been chambered, otherwise it would be really stupid for her to be wielding it the way she does. Sub-Zero was not far away, so the shorter barrel shouldn't be much problem. Sub-Zero wouldn't have been able to freeze the bullet, given how he couldn't' stop that icicle that kills him later.

Answer: Sonya's pistol looks to be a Glock, Model 17 or 19. It looks like the barrel was broken off up to about the front end of the trigger guard. If she fired it like that, the bullet would have significantly reduced muzzle velocity because the recoil spring is gone (it would be in the front part of the weapon that was frozen and broken off.) The remaining part of the slide wouldn't have any resistance working against it. Not only would that result in less pressure inside the chamber during firing, but it would also most likely send the slide back into Sonya's face if she pulled the trigger.

Question: What was the point of changing Sonya's outfit from her fighting gear to that dress when she is being held hostage?

Answer: It's a villain cliche. When they capture a pretty woman, they will always take her fighting clothes and put her in a sexy outfit.

Grumpy Scot

Answer: It was to demoralize and humiliate her. Sonya is a strong fighter so taking away her fighting outfit and putting her in a sexy dress barefooted would play games with her mind.

Audio problem: In the final fight scene between Liu and Shang Tsung, Liu hits Shang in the face repeatedly, but there is one extra hit sound for which there is no motion.

Shang Tsung: Johnny Cage, I challenge you.
Liu Kang: No! You'll fight me. I am Liu Kang, descendent of Kung Lao. I challenge you to Mortal Kombat.

Trivia: The autographed photo of Johnny Cage that lands among Scorpion's remains is a reference to Cage's 'Friendship' move from Mortal Kombat 2 (a comedy finisher where after beating your opponent to a bloody pulp you make peace with them by giving them a present or putting on a little show instead of killing them). Apparently many fans considered kicking the tar out of somebody and then giving them a signed photo of yourself to be incredibly egotistical, hence why it appears in the movie.
