Continuity mistake: When Nancy is in the drugstore and she keeps slipping in and out of sleep, Freddy is walking toward the camera running a finger blade on a pipe, and you can see there is a raised pipe joint just before the camera cuts to a rear view of Freddy, and the pipe joint that his finger blade was going to scrape has now gone. 2010's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is among the most unlikable and most condescending cash-grabs to emerge from the recent trend of horror remakes and reboots. It completely lacks in the charm and creativity that defined Wes Craven's iconic original, and instead settles for lazy scares and a hackneyed execution with all the subtlety of a brick to the face.
And if you don't take it from me, take it from the audience I saw the film with. To this day, "A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)" remains one of only two films I've ever seen where members of the audience actually booed as the credits began to roll. And others just sat there laughing. The atmosphere was practically venomous.
"A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)" easily earns a miserable 1 out of 5 from me.
9.7/10. The way they should've done the original Nightmare back in 1984. I like how friendly and kind Freddy Krueger was shown as having been in the past. Then we learn he was a child molester. This worked a lot better than the child murderer idea because it taps into our fear of who can you trust. Sure Jackie Earle Haley isn't Robert Englund but he still delivers a solid performance. I liked the burn design, just creepy as heck.Yeas I also found Rooney Mara's performance pretty good despite her real life attitude. She's more believable than Heather Langenkamp who acted so stiff and wooden. This is how A Nightmare On Elm Street should've been done.

Freddy Krueger: You think you can bring the dead back to life?
Jesse: No.
Freddy Krueger: No? I didn't fucking think so.
Trivia: When Nancy is drowning in the blood, the blood breaks through the floor to pour into the bedroom downstairs. This is a tribute to the original's famous bed-death scene where Johnny Depp is slaughtered by Freddy, causing the room to be drenched in his blood. (01:23:30)
Question: Why does Freddy come back in the end? I thought he was dead? Why is he killing now the adults?

Answer: It's a nod to the original Nightmare on Elm Street where the same thing happened at the end of the movie to Nancy's mother. Also you have to remember that Gwen, whom he killed at the end, was part of the mob who burned him alive. Can we say revenge?
