Corrected entry: When the big tugger is hurtling towards the waterfront, don't you think the Coast Guard would have warned the personnel at the waterfront about a boat going REALLY fast in their direction?
Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the film as the little girl gets attacked by small dinosaurs, it cuts to Dr. Ian Malcolm standing in front of a poster of a tropical island, making you think he is on the island. However, the "poster" has been a little enhanced to create the illusion; it is actually a live shot of a tropical backdrop. If you look closely, you can even see the palm leafs move in the wind.
Correction: The image behind Malcolm hasn't been enhanced; it's just a picture. Any apparent movement just seems to be an illusion.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Kelly is introduced, she comes running into the garage saying, "Dad, dad, dad" and hugs Ian. Eddie and Nick are both present. But when they get to the island and Kelly comes out of the trailer, Eddie and Nick are both surprised that she is Ian's daughter.
Correction: Not really so surprising, as neither Eddie nor Nick actually see Kelly in the scene where she is introduced, and Kelly looks completely African-American.
Corrected entry: When the two rival Ingen teams meet up, Roland reasons the T. Rex pair won't be after them because they've just fed on half of a human being, so it's safe to flee for help. Warmblooded carnivores can eat up to one-fourth of their body weight before they're truly "full," so for something the size of a T. Rex, half a human would only be an appetizer. This would explain why the T. Rex pair kept on following them even without the bloodstain on Sarah's jacket - they're easy prey. Now, I can understand why the scientists, Marlboro Men, businessmen, children, and even the paleontologists (who after all study the remains of dinosaurs, not the real thing) wouldn't pick up on this, but why didn't Nick (who after all served in many environmental causes, including Greenpeace and Earth First. or Roland himself, who after all is an experienced hunter, pick up on this until after it was too late?
Correction: 1. Many other carnivores eat less and become full, including humans, snakes, and lizards. 2. Nick doesn't know anything about animal biology. He stated in the movie that he joined only for the girls. 3. There is no indication Roland would know. Hunters need only know about basic predator knowledge, not dinosaur biology (one of the most debated and difficult subjects in science) or even basic biology of birds or lizards (closest biology to dinosaurs) since he would not likely be hunting them.
Corrected entry: In the night camp, when we see the ground vibrating with the footsteps of the dinosaurs, ripples appear in the puddles within the footprints start at the centre and radiate out. In fact ripples caused by ground vibration would start at the outside and move to the centre. (01:17:48)
Correction: They do start at the edges, but you don't see them before they collide at the middle.
Corrected entry: The jeep type vehicle that tries to pull the trailer back onto the ground is a Mercedes ML-320. That vehicle does not have a transfer case, so Eddie shifted it into reverse twice. (01:01:20)
Correction: The civilian ML 320 has a push button low transfer case and is not offered with a manual transmission. The modified one used in the film had a manual, and therefore could have had a transfer case with a shifter.
Corrected entry: Compsognathus has one finger that is all bone, with no joints, yet in the film they can bend all of their fingers.
Correction: In fact only two fossils have been discovered, and in both cases the finger joints are incomplete. There is debate as to whether it had two or three fingers, let alone whether one of them was non-articulated or not, so the film may well be accurate.
Corrected entry: When the two T-Rexs attack the trailer they both look and sound the same. Wouldn't that make them both male?
Correction: It is dark and rainy, so you can't see the differences very . However, the female is slightly greener, and the male's 'facial' structure is slightly different to what we have seen before. The 'making of' documentary shows the differences if you're in any doubt.
Corrected entry: When the people come to rescure Nick, Sarah and Ian who are climbing the rope, various things are gone. The tree stump has gone and the parts off Eddie's car too.
Correction: The stump is there, in the background. The rope is still tied to it. The parts of the car that the Rex ripped off were thrown too far to be seen in the shot.
Corrected entry: At the end while watching the news, we see that the shot from behind the couch Sarah is lying on Ian. From the front shot she is now instantly sleeping sitting up.
Correction: The shot from behind shows them both sat upright, she is slightly of to her left. The shot from the front shows the same position.
Corrected entry: When Kelly is doing the gymnastics to kick the raptor out of the shack right after she says HEY YOU. If you pause it, you can see it's ACTUALLY a man doing the stunt.Why didn't they get a female?
Correction: The rules of this site are clear - if you have to pause the film to see it, it is not a mistake.
Correction: The coastguard may have only thought to warn at the last moment when it was too late. It could also be believed the coast guard was sure they would slow down or start turning. Even if they were concerned they might believe that the crew would warn them if they weren't able to slow down but as we see they were all dead - something the coast guard wasn't aware of.
