Corrected entry: When Daniel enters Mr. Miyagi's house for the first time, the door knocks into wind chimes hanging from the ceiling. When Daniel's mother finds Daniel at Mr. Miyagi's house and enters, the chimes are gone.

Correction: Given the time that passes, he easily could have taken them down.

Greg Dwyer

Nothing confirms that he was removing them.

Nothing confirms that they ate every day during the film's time frame either. Does that mean they didn't eat other than what we saw?

Nothing confirms he didn't remove them either.

Nothing confirms he wasn't either.

There are at least 3 scenes where the chimes are present. 1. When Daniel first goes to Myagi's room-he opens the door and hits the chimes. 2. When he goes to Myagi's room to say thank you for fixing his bike-the chimes seem a little further away from the door and he seems to have to exaggerate the door opening to actually hit them. 3. When Daniels mother enters Myagi's room the chimes are there (possibly slightly repositioned) but she doesn't open the door wide enough to make contact with them.

Correction: No they aren't. She just opens the door enough to not bump it.

Corrected entry: Daniel's antagonist is portrayed as a black belt in the movie, yet in the climactic "crane stance scene" he stands there while Daniel sets up his "secret" crane kick (which is after all only a glorified jumping front kick) definitely not something an experienced tournament fighter would do.

Correction: This is a character mistake, and not a genuine movie mistake. People do stupid things. Also, Johnny can't do anything at the point where Daniel sets it up, it is against the rules. He has to wait until the referee tells them to fight, which he won't do until he determines that Daniel is ready. If Johnny went after him at that point, he could have been disqualified.

Corrected entry: When Daniel is painting the fence, Mr. Miyagi walks out to go fishing, and Daniel has his right arm/hand on his hip, yet in the following shot from a distance it is no longer on his hip, but at his side. (01:09:50)

The-Immortal

Correction: Need more clarification for this entry. When Daniel paints the fence, Mr. Miyagi does not go fishing, but works on his garden, as we see him doing when Daniel thinks he is done and Mr. Miyagi asks if he painted both sides. Mr. Miyagi had already left for fishing when Daniel came by to paint the house.

He's referring to the scene at the end of painting the fence, when Miyagi comes out to tell Daniel what time to be there in the morning, he is already wearing the fishing outfit. That's why Daniel looks at him the way he does.

Corrected entry: When Daniel and Mr Miyagi go to visit the Kobra Kai, if you notice the student who gets thrown down by the Sensei is the last of the students in that line on the far right, yet on the far away shot, there is a gap where he used to be. (00:46:30)

The-Immortal

Correction: The position is vacant because the student has moved to the left side of the wide angle shot to do his push-ups (as instructed in the scene before).

Corrected entry: Daniel is given a patch with a picture of a large bonsai tree on it prior to the tournament. Daniel signs up for the tournament just moments before it takes place. How could Daniel's name board used for the tournament ladder standings have a picture of the tree that was on the patch?

Correction: This is a good point, and I was wondering about it myself, but it's possible that Daniel was pre-registered for the tournament, and that he was just checking in the morning of the tournament. That being the case, he and Miyagi could have submitted the bonsai tree insignia ahead of time. Again, a good catch but not necessarily a mistake.

Corrected entry: When Johnny and his team enter the locker room, Johnny has short hair. But later during the tournament, his hair is long again.

Correction: The guy with the short hair isn't Johnny, he's another of the Cobra Kais and this is evident when you see him knocked out of the tournament later.

Correction: That is Dutch you're referring to.

lartaker1975

Corrected entry: In the scene where Daniel and his mother are eating in a restaurant, you can see that on the street behind them several people walk in their direction and than suddenly stop and run away, seemingly realizing they were walking onto a movie set during filming.

Correction: Those guys are the Kobra Kais. They notice Daniel in the restaurant and run off laughing, possibly planning their next move against him.

Corrected entry: In the semi-finals match where Daniel is about to fight Bobby, the announcer and Kreese call him Bobby Butterman. After he intentionally hurts Daniel they say that Bobby Brown has been disqualified. (01:54:30)

Correction: Before the fight, he's addressed as "Bobby Brown" twice by the announcer. And Kreese only addresses him as "Bobby."

Bishop73

Correction: It does indeed say "Butterman" in the subtitles, but it's a subtitle exclusive mistake.

Correction: You didn't see Johnny or his gang during the entire chase before. Maybe it was caused when he and the other Cobra Kai's fell in the gym, or when he burst out of the stall after Daniel turned the hose on him. Point is, it could have happened at any point during the entire sequence and not necessarily because of Mr. Miyagi.

Corrected entry: In the movie, Daniel simply rides his bicycle to the beach from Reseda and back. It would be very difficult to make that journey on a bicycle. The nearest beaches from Reseda are at least 15 miles away and would include many miles of swervy roads, hills, and cliffs. Even if riding this route on a bike was possible, it would take at least 2 hours or more each way.

Correction: He doesn't have a car and all the girls at his new school hang out at the beach, so there's his motivation. A casual cycling speed is about ten miles an hour, making the trip an hour and a half, tops. Daniel is a soccer player too, so he's probably fit enough to make the trip faster than that. If you want to argue that the terrain added to his time, fine. So he rode his bike for two hours there and two hours back. I'd done almost as much when I was still in elementary school; Before the age of 12, I, an asthmatic, rode my bike from Wapello, IA to Oakville, IA, a distance of about 12 miles. Daniel, being a good deal older than I was and great deal more athletic, could certainly handle this trip to the beach with little trouble.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Before Daniel goes to Golf N' Stuff with Ali, Daniel has very dark cuts and bruises on his face from the fight at the Halloween party. When Daniel goes on the date, his bruises are very faded. In the sanding scene, his bruises are very prominent again.

ACertainShadeofGreen

Correction: He could have easily used some light make up to cover up and not show Ali the extent of the damage; he would have not bothered to do so when going to Miyagi's.

Continuity mistake: We first see from the inside of the door (and therefore backwards) the instructions that Mr. Miyagi leaves for Daniel to paint the house. In the next shot we see the same note from the outside - from Daniel's viewpoint. Clearly they are two different notes. The left & right arrows switch directions, the drawings of the hands change, the position of Miyagi's signature changes, and the placement of some of the exclamation points changes.

Trivia: Ralph Macchio has almost no sense of smell at all. Just for fun, he makes it a point to smell something at least once during every movie he's in. In this movie, he smells a french fry at the restaurant, and he smells his underarm before approaching Alli.

Question: At the end of their date, Daniel and Ali run into some of her snobby friends who insult Daniel and drive off. Then Ali seems irritated at Daniel, but why? She's the one who is more laid back about their relationship and the fact that Daniel doesn't fit in with her friends. You'd think if anything she would try to reassure Daniel and say it's no big deal. So why is she mad at him, especially since he didn't say or do anything to make her so?

Krista

Chosen answer: She is irritated because he told her she could have gone with her friends if she wanted. I believe she got annoyed because Ali thought Daniel should have realized by now she wanted to be with him and didn't care what her friends thought.

weetie21

Also, you have to take a look at the snobby friends involved. Johnny and Dutch, two of Daniel's tormentors, were in the front seat and another one, Tommy, was in the backseat with two of Ali's friends who have always looked down on him. This came on the heels of another of Ali's snobby but nicer friends chatting with the two of them from a brand new sports car. Not to mention that at the start of the evening he met Ali's parents who made him uncomfortable. Although it is true that she would have been irritated with Daniel because he hadn't figured out that she didn't care what her friends or parents thought, he couldn't see past the fact that Johnny and his friends were part of her circle. He believed that she would look down on him and wouldn't be any different, which she picked up on, sparking her irritation when he told her she could have gone with them if she wanted to.
