Corrected entry: When Buddy and Jovie are in the bathroom singing "Baby It's Cold Outside," you can see a crew member reflected on the wall.
Corrected entry: There are several problems with Buddy floating on the iceberg to get to New York. First of all, Buddy is not steering it, so it would have been by the wildest luck that it could float on its own to New York. Secondly, Buddy has is lacking food and water, since he has no provisions. Third of all, the trip would have had lots of dangers like icy waves, dangerous sea animals, and a freezing cold temperature.
Correction: And do you mean to tell me that Santa Claus, elves and talking snowmen are all realistic? It's make believe. Not a mistake, just another little goofy thing the movie did for a laugh.
Corrected entry: When Buddy is riding the elevator to see his dad, he pushes all the buttons on the wall and says they look like a Christmas tree. At the very next stop, only the top half of the buttons are lit up, even though the elevator only stopped once. (00:22:10)
Correction: It's not showing you each stop. It's a cut to show that they did stop on each floor, and the whole time Buddy was probably talking to the man in the elevator (evidenced by Buddy still talking when the doors open and the man looking annoyed).
Corrected entry: In order to do a DNA analysis, you need at least a whole tube of blood. Buddy had his finger pricked, which would not supply nearly enough blood to have the analysis performed.
Correction: If that were true, then a lot less murders would be solved. CSI does a good job of showing that you don't need much blood. It's BETTER to have more blood, but not necessary.
Corrected entry: The piece of silverware in the middle of the mobile during the spaghetti dinner hangs at different angles in different shots.
Correction: The silverware is made into a mobile, so will change angles because it moves.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Buddy redecorates Gimble's, he is shown only making one building out of Legos (The Empire State Building -which is made of light Legos on top). However, when the store opens the next morning, there are 3 buildings and the Empire State Building is made of dark Legos. (00:32:00 - 00:35:00)
Correction: Just because we are not shown on camera everything Buddy does that night, doesn't mean he didn't do it.
Corrected entry: When Buddy burps his mouth changes position between shots.
Correction: It only takes about a second to change the postion of your mouth and it's not surprising that he does, considering how long he burps for. It's likely that his mouth changes position on purpose, possibly for comedic effect.
Corrected entry: At the mail room, Buddy puts his face in the sucky thing and when he pulls it out, there is no mark on his face at all.
Correction: Considering the very short length of time he had his cheek against it, there wouldn't have been a very noticeable mark.
Corrected entry: During the scene where everybody is caroling, there is a close up of the boy telling his dad that he is just moving his lips. In this closeup, the man in the background is just standing there smiling, but in the very next shot, we see him singing.
Correction: That child that is talking to his father is Michael the brother of Buddy the Elf that scene was meant to be in the movie since Michael's dad does not believe in Christmas.
Corrected entry: When Michael comes in the house after Buddy leaves, and says "Hey Buddy", the reflection of the cameraman is visible in the snow glass on top of the Etch-A-Sketch.
Correction: I have looked time after time for the reflection in this scene, however no camera man is visible. All that you see is a bright reflection like a window.
Corrected entry: As Buddy asks his dad to tuck him in, the pillow to his right (our left) seems to have a (small bit rough) 3-D face on it, caused by the lighting and the way the pillow is wrinkled/fluffed. This creepy "face" is there throughout the entire scene and doesn't move or change.
Correction: A wrinkled pillow that seems to take on a semi-recognizable shape is not valid movie trivia.
Corrected entry: In the boardroom when Miles Finch tosses Buddy off the conference table, one of Buddy's feet casually knocks a picture off the wall. There is the sound of glass breaking when it lands, but the frame doesn't actually break.
Corrected entry: When we first see Jovie in the mall, decorating the Christmas tree, she starts on the right side of the tree but when she says her first line, she's on the left side. (00:27:00)
Correction: If you check out the surroundings, you will see that Jovie is not on a different side of the tree. What actually changes is not her position in relation to the tree, rather we see a different angle in the second shot. In the first shot, you can see a street light in behind her. In the second, as she comes down from the ladder, you see the same light exactly where it would be in the first camera angle.
Corrected entry: When the guy joins Buddy on the elevator, Buddy pushes every button, starting with the top and working down until they are all lit. When he gets off the elevator all of the bottom buttons are off, but the first floor light (and possibly more) should still be on because the elevator would have already passed that floor when Buddy pushed the button(s).
Correction: In most lifts if a floor button in the opposite direction of travel is pushed it will go off as soon as the lift resumes motion.
Corrected entry: When Miles Finch comes to the meeting, he states that his greatest book ideas are in his little book. He also mentioned that a story should not be on a farm and the main character shouldn't be vulnerable. Later, when Miles Finch leaves his book of ideas at the meeting, somebody mentions that the best idea in the book is about a vulnerable peach on a farm, which is the exact opposite Miles said is a good book.
Correction: He was trying to throw them off so they wouldn't think of the same idea.
Corrected entry: It's Christmas eve in New York City and it's snowing. Everyone is wrapped up because it's so cold and yet, when everyone sings and talks, you can't see their breath. If it's so cold then why can't you see their breath?
Correction: Seeing your breath does not only depend upon how cold it is. It also depends on the amount of humidity in the air and the air pressure.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Andy Richter and his writing accomplice are meeting with James Caan for the first time, there's a shot from behind the writers, facing James Caan. In this shot, the boom mike is visible at the top of the screen at least twice. It then returns, bobbing up and down, when this same shot is used a few seconds later.
Correction: This is probably due to an error by the projectionist at the theatre, as it is not visible on the DVD release.
Corrected entry: In the scene with the snowball fight, as Buddy and Michael are running under the bridge there are only two kids standing on the bridge. However, when they duck behind the rock, it shows the bridge again and there are three kids throwing snow balls. (00:52:30)
Corrected entry: When Buddy leaves the north pole he walks in the snow and leaves no footprints behind.
Correction: This is because the North Pole in the movie is supposed to look like a "fantasy-style" North Pole, not a realistic North Pole. Done for style, so this mistake is technically not valid.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Buddy is writing a note that he is leaving on the Etch-a-Sketch, how does he go down a line without a long line between the words?
Correction: He does - if you look closely, there's a line on the left side between paragraphs..
Correction: After repeated viewings of this scene, there are no crew member shadows reflected on the walls, the shower curtain, or the fog covered mirrors.
