Charlie's Angels

Question: Does anyone know the story behind the "Creepy Thin Man?" Like why he likes to pull hair and smell it? Anything that helps me understand his character is appreciated.

Answer: This character gets a backstory in the sequel (Charlie's Angels Full Throttle). Supposedly he was a runaway from a circus, who found refuge at an orphanage. He didn't much like haircuts when he was little.

Question: Does anyone know whether the African Prince in the opening sequence was actually Drew Barrymore herself in disguise, or whether it was an actor who was replaced by Drew in the revealing scene ("I think you mean crazy bitch"..."Damn I hate to fly" etc...) Thanks.

Answer: The African Prince is rapper LL Cool J, so yes, it was someone who is then replaced by Barrymore.

Question: What did Drew say in the bloopers of Charlie's Angles Full Throttle at 0:41? I don't understand what she is saying.

Answer: If you mean the bit in the welding costumes, she says "Ahhhh, there's an ember in my ass!"

Question: At the start of the film Drew (disguised as an African Prince) drags a guy with a bomb strapped to his chest from an aircraft. What was the bomber hoping to achieve? If he was going to destroy the aircraft - why was he interested in diamonds if he was about to die? If he was selling the device to the African - why was it ticking? If he was negotiating to be paid to not destroy the aircraft - what was his plan for escaping after he deactivated the device?

Chosen answer: I suspect that like much in this movie, it was merely conceived to be an 'exciting' opening for the movie and logic played little part in its inclusion.

Question: In the scene when Lucy Liu is in the trailer and it gets shot up, she looks at her dessert, it goes flat, and then she says "Murphy O'Meyer. That does it." Who is Murphy O'Meyer?

Answer: Murphy O'Meyer is a phrase used instead of cursing (like when someone says "fudge" or "sugar" in place of swearing) Also the phrase was used in the TV show in the episode Three Angels for Charlie.

Question: I was just wondering if anyone knew the name of the song that Sam Rockwell does the snazzy little dance to near the end of the movie?

Answer: If it is the one I am thinking about, it is called Simon Says by Pharoahe Monch.

Question: In the old TV show do the girls ever meet Charlie or find out more information about him?

Spaceboy_007

Chosen answer: in the last episode of the show Let Our Angel Live (6/24/81), Kelly is shot in the head and the other angles and Bosley go to the hospital. The Angels finally got a sneak peek at what Charlie really looks like when he shows up at the hospital to visit her.

Answer: They've never been face to face with Charlie. In S2 E1, Angels in Paradise, Sabrina caught a glimpse of him as he swimmed away, escaping from kidnappers. In S2 E11, Magic Fire, Kris was a magician's assistant. Charlie said, he handed her his pen, for a mind reading trick, but couldn't remember what he looked like. In the final episode, Kelly said, she thought she heard Charlie's voice after surgery but was under heavy medication. It was Bosley who recognized Charlie standing in the background in hospital scrubs.

Answer: Bill and Lucy were arguing over one of her lines, in part due to a misunderstanding, but it blew over - Bill Murray has said "I feel very warmly for her now." He stated that he didn't want to return for the sequel due to someone involved in both productions, but beyond it not being Lucy Liu, he's never clarified who.

Question: In the "Heidi" scene, when the girls are singing in German, what do they say?

Answer: In the German version of the movie, the text is a rather normal advertising song about the company, the Angels pretend to work for. In the US version however, the actresses' accents are so horrible, it is, besides some "typical German words", impossible to make out if their song has any meaning at all.

Question: When they introduce Dylan (where she smokes and has a cast... and looks almost like a man) in the "Once Upon a Time" starting segment, there is a part of a song that goes "I love rock and roll". A recent version is sung by Britney Spears, but who sings that version in the movie?

Answer: The original version was by The Arrows. Joan Jett's version was a cover. But yes, that's Joan's version.

Answer: It's the original version of *I Love Rock N' Roll*, by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.

Question: Where did the creepy thin man go after the fight, when they find Knox?

Answer: Somewhere on the DVD they explain he jumped through a gap in the fan you see in that scene and ran off.

Question: Why is the director credited simply as "McG?"

Answer: Joseph McGinty Nichol is his real name. McG is most probably a nickname.

Grumpy Scot

Revealing mistake: When the Angels are fighting the "Creepy Thin Man," right before Drew Barrymore lifts up Lucy Liu to spin her around and kick the thin man, to get Lucy's attention, Drew hollers out "Lucy!" even though Lucy Liu's character's name is "Alex." (00:26:20 - 00:27:25)
