Spider-Man

Trivia: Peter Parker says 'tally ho' before swinging on his web for the first time. In the director's cut of Army of Darkness, also directed by Sam Raimi, near the end, Ash says the same thing before swinging on a rope to knock Evil Ash off the castle top. (00:26:25)

Trivia: Subliminal product placement? During the Thanksgiving dinner scene, as Peter clings to his bedroom ceiling, a drop of blood gathers on his arm. The sound of the blood falling and hitting the floor sounded a lot like the famous ketchup splat from the Carl's Jr. TV ads. No guesses as to which fast food chain features Spider-Man toys with its children's meals. (01:23:00)

Trivia: There are many "green" references in the movie, foreshadowing the Green Goblin. In the beginning, Aunt May says, "Will you pass me that green plate," to Uncle Ben. Uncle Ben paints the kitchen green, and most of the decorations at the graduation are green.

Trivia: Hugh Jackman was going to have a cameo as Wolverine, but it was scrapped because they couldn't find the costume from X-Men. "We really tried to get me to come on and do something, whether it was a gag or just to walk through the shot or something. The problem was, we couldn't find the suit. And so when they were in New York when I was there, we couldn't get it together."

Trivia: Grand Curtis, producer of the film, has his name on the newspaper that Norman reads. It says "Int'l playboy Grant Curtis sued for palimony."

Trivia: The Alfa Romeo car in the newspaper is the model "Spider".

Trivia: In addition to his brother Ted playing the supporting role of Hoffman, director Sam Raimi's other brother Ivan and his family appeared as extras in the background at the beginning of the film, though they aren't visible as they are out of focus in the distance. Ivan is a screenwriter who often works with Sam, and in addition to a co-writing credit "Spider-Man 3", also did uncredited re-writes on both this film and "Spider-Man 2."

Trivia: Director Sam Raimi was an enormous "Spider-Man" comic-book fan growing up. Such a huge fan, his parents even hired a local artist to paint him a Spider-Man mural on his bedroom wall as a childhood birthday present. Producer Avi Arad stated that, in addition to Raimi's fun, quirky directorial style, part of the reason he was hired was due to his lifelong love of the character.

Trivia: When Norman learns that the board members of Oscorp are ousting him, he very quickly goes through the five stages of grief.

Trivia: Stone Temple Pilots submitted their song "All in the Suit That You Wear" for the film's soundtrack, hoping for it to be the lead single. They withdrew it when "Hero" by Chad Kroeger and Josey Scott was selected as the lead single instead.

Trivia: One of Peter's costume designs is of Marvel character Stingray.

Trivia: The scene in the burning building with Green Goblin and Spider-Man plays out very similar to the scene in "Back to the Future 2" with Griff and Marty Jr. They both ask "are you in, or are you out?" and then reply "wrong answer." Goblin is also standing with his bomb behind his back, the way Griff stands with his bat behind his back.

Trivia: Screenwriter David Koepp originally intended for the film to feature Gwen Stacey, whom he planned on killing off in the second film. However, as the script progressed, it was decided that Stacey would be left out in favor of Mary Jane Watson, whom is Peter Parker's main love interest in the comics.

Trivia: Up until the release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," this was the highest grossing film in the "Spider-Man" franchise domestically. It managed to hold the record for nearly a full 20 years.

Trivia: When Marvel was going through bankruptcy in the late 90's, they gave Sony the opportunity to purchase the film rights to their entire catalogue of available characters for $25 million. Sony declined, thinking no-one cared about Marvel's other characters, and settled on just purchasing the rights to Spider-Man and his supporting characters for $10 million.

Trivia: While Peter is trying to use the web he says "up up and away" that's a line used by Superman in DC comics.

Spider-Man mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Norman is getting ready to test himself, he lies down on the bed, fastens himself in and the doctor goes to the computer. However, when it shows him being brought in to the chamber he has several electrodes connected to his chest and head. (00:15:20)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: At first the electrodes are beside Norman's head. While the doctor is fixing him in place, at one point camera focuses on his face. Later when he's stepping back for the PC, the electrodes can actually be seen stuck on his body. You can see them if you have an HD copy. So the camera focusing on his face is indicating that the doctor's doing whatever necessary for the process.

Chosen answer: "You're trash! You're always gonna be trash, just like her!" - He says this presumably in reference to Mary Jane's mother.
