Continuity mistake: When Jackie is inside the bus leading to the mine, an egg hits his window, but when the bus is viewed from outside, the window is clean.

Continuity mistake: When Billy punches the other boy in the Ballet School after his audition, he hits the boy's face on the left side, but the boy grips his right side after falling down.

Continuity mistake: When Billy crosses the road and says goodbye to Mrs. Wilkinson's daughter, she is standing in front of a giant advert poster. A police van drives past, and when it leaves the scene again, the girl isn't there any more. With the van covering her for not even one second, she could never walk away in this short time.

Suggested correction: Not an error. It was an intentional editing decision. There was no reason for the camera to linger on that view after the van had passed, other than to reveal that she was gone.

Suggested correction: I'm not sure if this can (or should) be classified as a "continuity error" in that the sudden "vanishing" is meant to be movie magic or part of the entertainment (as opposed to trying to give the impression that the girl was actually physically able to board the bus or walk away that quickly). I've seen this same type of "disappearance" in several movies and believe it is part of the "comedy" (and "Billy Elliot is classified as a comedy, although it is hardly the "LOL" type).

Continuity mistake: During the pillow fight, the amount of feathers on Billy and the girl are not continuous between shots, especially when Billy's back is covered in feathers and he bends forwards towards her.

Billy: So, what's it like, like?
Dad: What's what like?
Billy: London.
Dad: I don't know, son. I never made it past Durham.
Billy: Have you never been?
Dad: Why would I want to go to London?
Billy: It's the capital city.
Dad: Well, there are no mines in London.
Billy: Jesus Christ, is that all you think about?

Trivia: At one stage in the movie, Billy and his dance teacher travel across the Transporter Bridge, the only working cradle bridge in the world, which crosses the River Tees from Middlesbrough to Port Clarence, Stockton-on-Tees. At the time of the Miners Strike in 1984, when the film is set, neither Middlesbrough nor Stockton-on-Tees had an active coal field. Whilst the Transporter Bridge, now a grade 2 listed structure, is still working, it is not really a reguarly used entry or exit use from Teeside, if Billy and his teacher were going to an audition. Which raises the question as to why they were on the bridge, apart from giving the director the chance to show off a spectacular structure.

Suggested correction: I think you've answered your own question. Presumably this entry was written before 2019. The bridge was closed in 2019 over safety concerns.
