Mara drinks a lot at the combined prom / graduation party, then walks to Dylan's grave and lies on it. Dylan's mother soon comes and joins her. They talk about life (e.g, how "it sucks", things happening for no reason, etc.) and Mara says she doesn't know what to do. Dylan's mom asks if she'd like to come to dinner next week. She briefly smiles but returns to crying. Mara arrives home after daybreak. Her parents waited up all night worrying and were relieved when Mara got home safe/alive. In the next scene, Mara (with suitcases) is leaving home in Dylan's truck. Her parents ask her to "call a lot" and she says she will. It isn't clear where Mara is going, but it might be the beach house (alone) or to college. During the drive, Mara (narrating) has a rather long rant about what she is going to do or be in life, how "life sucks", and how things happen for no apparent reason - she could die today, and so could you... nothing anyone can do about it. It is up to the individual to make the best of life - go for it.

Other mistake: The way Katelyn exploded was described by Mara as being like a balloon popping. Every time a student exploded, blobs of blood (and tiny pieces of the body) splattered everywhere, making a huge bloody mess. When more than one student exploded going down the stairs, blood looked like it was being poured from a bucket. Sometimes, parts of clothing could be saturated in blood (such as a sleeve), but there was always more blood splattered nearby. When Katelyn was at the doctor's office (to get a piece of someone's bone removed from her forehead), "blood" goes smoothly/evenly around her eye to the lashes with no gaps or splatter marks. Blood from an explosion would not fall this "perfectly" around eyes. For example, folds in the eyelids would block some blood from landing in certain places and eyelashes should have some blood on them but Mara's did not. (01:41:27)

Trivia: Dylan's mom's story about the Florida man who was in bed when a sinkhole opened up under him actually happened to Jeffrey Bush on 2/28/13 in Seffner, Fl (Tampa suburb). He (along with his bedroom furniture) was entombed. Brother Jeremy heard him scream, jumped in with a shovel and tried to dig him out, but Jeffrey's body was never recovered. The house was razed and the sinkhole filled in but it re-opened 2+ years later on 8/20/15. Sinkholes are common in FL and 6 states - AL, KY, MS, PA, TN, TX. (01:26:35)
