Plot hole: In the scene where Roy takes his ball out of the hole, at the last round of the US Open, the crowd are going wild etc. Dave, who has a chance to win the competition, doesn't finish off his round.
Continuity mistake: When Roy is talking to Romeo about winning the U.S. Open he is seen with a glass of milk in his hand in one scene and in the next the glass in on the table in front of him.
Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy: This is for Venturi who thinks I should lay up.
Romeo: What does he know? He only won this tournament before you were born.
Trivia: After David Simms is interviewed by the reporters, he is stopped by an elderly couple with their grandson wanting and autograph. These are actually Kevin Costner's parents, and the child is Costner's son. (01:27:22)
