Game Night

Continuity mistake: After Sarah and Ryan have their awkward moment in the back of the car, it cuts to Max and then Kevin. Sarah is in the background of both shots. In the shot of Max, we see her brushing her hair with her hand and then lowering her hand into her lap. Then, when it cuts to Kevin, suddenly Sarah is brushing her hair with her hand again, and puts it back down a second time. The cuts are instant, so there's no time for her to have lifted her hand back up between edits.

Revealing mistake: Throughout the single shot chase (which was actually multiple takes edited together), during a few moments, you can subtly see where the different takes were stitched together. Ex. When Michelle first gets the egg and runs through the doorway, you can subtly see the white door-frame to the left of her "warp/shrink" a little bit for about a half-second. There is also a few moments where the shots don't quite transition perfectly and you'll get a light "wobble." It's VERY subtle but noticeable.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Kevin and Michelle are searching the bedroom and Kevin starts grilling Michelle on the "celebrity" she slept with, Michelle goes from facing the bedside table to facing Kevin instantly between cuts.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Donald Anderton is giving water to his fighter and calls the next fighter in, the amount and pattern of the blood on his fighter's chest changes at least twice between shots. (First his chest is covered in blood... then almost completely clean... then partially covered in blood).

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: In the car, Ryan says the kidnapper sounds like a "monster" and Sarah explains that he's using a voice-change. During this exchange, Sarah goes from looking forward, to looking sideways at Ryan, then back to looking forward instantly between cuts.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: The T-shirt max uses to clean the blood of Bastian is COMPLETELY covered in blood... until he unfolds it and sees the picture on it, at which point suddenly about 60% of the blood suddenly vanishes from it. It's still bloody... but nowhere NEAR as blood as it was a few seconds prior. (They obviously switched out the shirts between takes).

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Max is trying to clean the blood of Bastian the dog with the T-shirt, the amount of blood on Bastian's fur changes slightly depending on the angle. In the profile angle, there's slightly more blood, and in the over-the-shoulder angle, there's slightly less blood. (Most likely the angles are from different takes where they re-applied the fake blood to the dog and it didn't quite match 100%).

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Max first reaches down to Bastian the dog in the office, Bastian has his face pressed to the ground and is licking the blood stain. The scene cuts to a profile angle, and suddenly, Bastian's head is no longer pressed to the ground, and is instead lifted almost all the way up.

TedStixon

Audio problem: When Max is biting down on the squeaky toy during the bullet extraction scene, the way the toy squeaks doesn't really "match" with his biting. Those types of toys wouldn't let out comically long squeaks like that from a single bite down. (Obviously it was exaggerated for comedic effect).

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Annie is showing Max what she got at the convenience store, at one point she pulls a pocket-knife out of the bag and puts it in her hand. The shot cuts to a different angle, and the pocket knife vanishes.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: At the end of the chase, Annie and Max are in the car. Annie is driving and Max is in the passenger seat because he was shot. Annie screams "I hate game night!" and the scene cuts to an exterior wideshot of the car driving down the road. If you look closely, you can see in the wideshot that only one person is in the car - a man who is driving. Even though in the previous shot Annie was driving and both she and Max were in the car.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Max and Annie find Brooks in the bar, and Brooks tries to explain that he's a smuggler, pay attention. Brook goes from facing Max to facing Annie instantly between cuts at one point.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Annie is dancing around at the bar, the way the scene is tightly cut makes some minor mistakes with where she is in the room. For example, at one point, she is in front of one kidnapper, but then is immediately in front of the next kidnapper between shots. There's a few other little small moments like this throughout the scene. It's hard to notice because of the tight framing, but it's there.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Ryan and Sarah are looking at the clue card that says "Look in Your Jacket Pocket," pay close attention. In the closeup of the card, there's some stuff right behind it, only inches away. Then it cuts to a wideshot, and you can see that there's nothing right behind it. The only things on the table are about a foot away.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Ron, the actor playing the "FBI Agent," is explaining what happened, watch his hands. They go from down to up between shots at one point.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Max notices Brooks through the doorway at the bar, Annie is sipping Max's drink then starts to set it down. The camera cuts to a different angle, and suddenly she is sipping his drink again and puts it down a second time.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Annie and Max are chatting at the bar, watch Annie's arms. (She is leaning against her hand.) In the shots facing her, her red sweater is sticking out of the sleeve of her jacket. In the shots facing away, her red sweater is NOT sticking out of the sleeve of her jacket.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Ryan shoves the table under the doorknob so Kevin and Michelle can't get out of the obvious, pay attention. In the wideshot, you can see that the table is a good 4-6" under the doorknob. Then it cuts to a closeup, and suddenly the table is only about 1" under the doorknob.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Annie and Max are talking about the first riddle and Annie is googling it on her phone, she goes from looking up at Max to looking down at her phone between cuts at one point.

TedStixon

Ryan: You're like a double threat. Brains... and you're British.

Trivia: The film has many subtle allusions to popular games and gaming archetypes. For example: -Many elements of the plot (such as the hot-rod car and Gary's dog Bastion) are references to game-pieces from the game Monopoly. -The scene where Annie digs a bullet out of Max's arm and then sews it up is both a reference to the Monopoly thimble-piece and the children's game Operation. -During the chase scene, there are frequent shots where the camera is mounted to the back of the cars in such a way to emulate car-racing video-games. -The music includes several cues done in an 8-bit Nintendo video-game style. -Establishing shots are filmed using a photographic technique called "tilt-shift", which makes live action locations look like miniatures, and thus, like board-game pieces. Etc. There are dozens of these types of references throughout the film.

Question: Was any of the movie shot on film? IMDb has Arri and RED digital cameras listed, but there are couple scenes (especially early on) that seem to have noticeable graininess that looks much more like traditional film grain than the digital "noise" you sometimes get in modern movies.
