Fifty Shades Freed

Question: Originally Christian says that when his biological mother overdosed he was taken to the hospital which is where Grace, his adoptive mother finds him. Then near the end of Fifty Shades Freed, they see the picture of the foster family where he and Jack were in the same foster home in Michigan. How was he in a foster home in Michigan, if Grace took him and adopted him when he was at the hospital?

Answer: Christian mentions he was in and out of foster homes for various periods of time before his mother overdosed and died. She had likely cleaned up enough to where Christian was returned to her custody, but she then reverted to her old ways and became involved with an abusive man before overdosing. Christian then met Grace at the hospital.

Question: When did Ana become pregnant? I know she was 6-8 weeks pregnant when it was announced, so would she had been pregnant before the wedding/honeymoon or after?

Answer: The movie's timeline is not clear, but in the book, it happened during the honeymoon, way before the next Depo shot was due, so it's not because she forgot or was negligent of it. The shot ran out too early, which is rare, but it does happen.

Question: I've only seen this movie once so far and I haven't read the book yet, so my question is, what exactly happened in the scene where Ana said one of the safe words for the first time? I don't really understand what made her say that; was Christian teasing her too much or something?

Answer: He was trying to make her understand how she made him feel whenever she broke a promise (usually about her safety) by punishing her and it became too much, too intense. She also felt like it was revenge instead of love.

Character mistake: When Anastasia has to make out the 5 million dollar check to "cash" to get the money to release Mia, she signs the check with her old last name, "Anastasia Steele" instead of "Anastasia Grey", which is written on the top left corner of the check.

Suggested correction: A key point in the movie is how Christian is upset that she didn't take his name in her work life, so it wouldn't be unreasonable that she signed the check using her maiden name (it also could have been just as easily a force of habit thing, it does take time to get used to using the correct name!).
