Fantastic Four

Question: Victor got his powers when his suit fused with him. Ben got his when he got pelted with rocks. Johnny was blasted with fire which explains his ability. But, how did Sue and Reed get their abilities?

Answer: It is believed that the heat from the radiation caused Reed to start "melting", which is how he got his rubber powers. It is unknown why Sue got invisibility.

Chosen answer: No, no one from the film asked him to do a cameo. Stan Lee has said he never requests a cameo and waits to be asked.

I read on IMDb that he declined to make a cameo in this movie.

I've never heard him say he declined the cameo. I think maybe the entry was made from an assumption of what Lee told Larry King. Lee mentioned he wasn't in one of the X-Men films or this film and said sometimes the films are shot too far away and he can't travel half way around the world to be in a cameo. But this film was shot primarily in Louisiana and did have a scene shot in Los Angeles supposedly.

Question: I suppose this is more a request for an educated guess than anything. Why can't anyone seem to produce a working Fantastic 4 movie franchise? The first two movies and the first reboot were awful, simply put, and the poor box office returns made future sequels or reboots even less likely. Why can no one seem to get a grip on what makes Fantastic 4 tick?

Charles Austin Miller

Chosen answer: In a nutshell, 20th Century Fox and the people that worked on the respective films simply don't understand the comics and why fans like the source material. It's also worth noting that the 2015 film was made so that Fox could retain the rights, as they would have gone back to Marvel had they not begun production on it by a certain date in 2014. They weren't exactly making the film with the intention of it being great, rather as a rights grab and a money grab, though the film ended up being a major box office flop, so the latter didn't exactly pan out in their favor. There are many fans that would like to see the rights to Fantastic 4 revert back to Marvel Studios, as they would more than likely do the films justice.

Question: I read that Stan Lee greatly approved black Johnny. Is this true?

Answer: According to Entertainment Weekly, it's true. Unlike characters like Black Panther, Storm, Thunderbird or Shang-Chi, Johnny Storm's race has really nothing to do with what defines him as a character, which is why Stan Lee had no issue with it.

Continuity mistake: Sue's hairstyle, as well as the texture and length of her hair, and the color, changes from scene to scene, and even at times from shot to shot. This was due to movie re-shoots.

Dr. Franklin Storm: Victor, stop! We are not gods, just people. And we are stronger together than we are apart.

Trivia: An early draft of the script was much larger in scope and more light-hearted in tone, and featured numerous characters including Dr. Doom, Mole Man and a cameo by Galactus to set him up as a potential future villain. The film had to be scaled back due to budgetary restrictions. Director Josh Trank then decided to approach the film from a newer angle to set it apart, by going for a more Cronenberg-esque body-horror movie crossed with a superhero film. But much of the film was altered in reshoots after filming ended to make it feel more like a standard comic-book movie.
