Other mistake: After the daughter visited with her mother for the first time, she is reviewing the footage with the priests. No such camera angles were taken for what they reviewed, only an overhead room camera would have been available.
Factual error: In the scene where Robert Redford is hiding in his car in dealer's lot, the FBI say they have him tracked and located, "Got him. Just off I-94 near Gurnee, IL." Redford may be in Gurnee, but the local police speeding to catch him are not: The area around Gurnee is flat as a pancake, yet the police drive by many tall hills and/or small mountains. (01:09:00)
Factual error: Kuklinski is looking at a newspaper which is dated January 3rd 1983, and the text reads that Roy DeMeo was found dead the previous day. In actuality, Roy DeMeo died on January 10th 1983. (01:22:55)
Factual error: When the underground garage of the market is flooded, the car that Kyle and Heather are in does not flood. A car is not water tight like a submarine. Even though the water does not cover the top of the car, water would flood the entire car within minutes.
Continuity mistake: Towards the end when Charlie is giving a goodbye hug to Sam before she goes to college, the sun changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: The objects on the desk at Lax's interview with Herman change several times. Sometimes, the tripod is closer to the center of the desk, about a foot away from the file folder, but other times it is closer to where Lax is sitting and one leg is almost touching the folder. The angle of the file folder and distance to the edge of the desk also varies. The Styrofoam cup switches from one side of the desk to the other. (00:17:07 - 00:18:20)
Continuity mistake: In the underground lab, Dr. Su offers to surgically remove the false memories he implanted in John's brain. He drills a half-inch hole in the right side of John's forehead, which leaves the right side of his face covered in flowing blood. John can't stand the pain, breaks free, and he goes on a rampage throughout the underground bunker, killing every UniSol in his path. As he fights his way through the bunker, the bleeding hole in John's head switches from the right side of his forehead to the left side, then back to the right side again. Also, in the last scene (an unspecified amount of time after the bunker brawl), John has no scar on his forehead at all.
Continuity mistake: In the car after Martin tells Hans about the throat slitting story, Billy and him get into an argument about the violence of the story. Billy says "It's going to be violent, it's about seven fucking psychopaths!" Martin then says "Hey!" But you can see in the back seat his mouth doesn't move for that. Then it cuts to a close up of Martin and his head is in a different position, facing Billy where he was looking out the window a moment before. (00:58:05)
Continuity mistake: After Ray jumps off the boat to remove the chain from its tether, in the following wide shot, the chain is nowhere to be seen.
Continuity mistake: At the "written by" screen with Al Pacino and Christopher Walken meeting, the shadows of the building run perfectly parallel to the fence and through the whole length as far as it can be seen. The two exchange 30 seconds of dialogue and an awkward hug, and drive off. The shadows have changed entirely; they start about halfway at the gate, with an oblique angle. (00:04:05)
Continuity mistake: At the end, the heater is on a chair when Sally chucks the locket on to it. After the spirit has been banished the heater is now on the floor.
Plot hole: In this Australian time-travel fantasy, a college student discovers a one-way time portal that allows him to travel one day into the past each time he uses it. While he at first attempts to rescue his girlfriend from a traffic accident that occurred a day earlier, he eventually travels back 50 years (one day at a time) to save his young grandfather. However, in order to go back 50 years (one day at a time), he'd have to repeatedly climb through the portal over 18,000 times. Apparently, it's not an issue, because the movie just glosses right over it in less than a minute.
Continuity mistake: When Lauren gets asked to take her brother upstairs she is standing by the door. The camera cuts and she is leaning on the door frame. (00:13:30)
Continuity mistake: Celeste's white Honda (Alabama plate #LF8VN3D) is riddled with bullets right after she drives up to the cabin, but there aren't any bullet holes later after the police show up. (01:26:00 - 01:45:00)
Continuity mistake: The alarm clock chimes; Juno Temple reaches up with her left hand, putting it on the upper part of the pillow. Michael Angarano crawls over her to turn the alarm off, but she's napping with her hand by her chin, on the bottom corner of the pillow. (00:02:40)
Other mistake: The news anchor in the opening scene noticeably flubs her lines at one point.
Continuity mistake: Tom walks into Anthony's memory. Anthony is sitting by the pool next to a table with two glasses of beer, which are 1/3rd empty. A few minutes later the memory is replayed, but this time both beer glasses are mostly full. (00:49:50 - 00:58:35)
Character mistake: When Michael goes to the antique shop, the sign out front is spelled wrong; it reads "anitques."
Revealing mistake: In the opening scene, Johnny and Hickey sit in the front seat of a car. Views out the side windows blur, there is a gray background behind Johnny instead of the rear window, and when Hickey holds the cross toward the windshield, the "outside" is all grayish-white. At one point, there is light on Johnny's right forehead, cutting diagonally downward (too linear to be the sun), and another time, there is light behind Hickey on his headrest. (00:00:31 - 00:03:30)
Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the movie when Sparkle is on stage singing in her red dress, a camera shot pans upward toward the ceiling on the stage. There is a cameraman backstage walking on a rafter or something, trying to run so as to not get caught on film, but fails.
