The Player (1992) ending / spoiler

Griffin (Tim Robbins) is called by the police for a suspect line up because an old lady witnessed the murder of writer David Kahane (Vincent D'Onofrio). However, the lady chooses the wrong person in the line up: the cop (Lyle Lovett) who was following Griffin. One year later, Griffin still has his job at the studio and Larry Levy (Peter Gallagher) and other studio executives are watching a screening of the movie Habeas Corpus. The two guys who pitched the movie idea to Griffin sold out: Habeas Corpus has major stars in it (Bruce Willis as the hero and Julia Roberts as the women who is wrongly sentenced to the death penalty) and it has a happy ending (Bruce Willis saves Julia Roberts from the gas chamber). Bonnie expresses her dislike of Habeas Corpus and she's fired. Griffin gets a call from the post card stalker and we see that he (Griffin) has a happy ending of his own: he gets the girl (June) and she's pregnant, he still has his job and he got away with murder.
