The Outsiders ending / spoiler
While driving home after running away, Ponyboy Curtis (Howell) and Johnny Cade (Macchio) catch a building on fire and hear that some children are trapped inside. The two boys break in and save all the children from the burning building which collapses shortly after they get out. Johnny gets seriously injured by the fire and dies in hospital. Dallas Winston (Dillon) is furious. The Greasers and the Socs battle it out in a huge brawl. The Greasers win. Still furious over the death of Johnny, Dallas robs a store and while running away, is gunned down by the police. The war between the two gangs comes to a halt, and Ponyboy begins to write about his experience.
