Les Miserables

The resistance group is killed by soldiers, except for Marius (Eddie Redmayne) who is saved by Monsieur Madeleine/Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman). Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe) has Valjean at his mercy to be killed or captured but lets him go and then kills himself, unable to live with himself for not doing his duty. Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) and Marius get married. Jean Valjean leaves, thinking they're better off without him, but they track him down to a monastery where they're by his side as he dies, welcomed to heaven by Fantine, where all the characters who have died are shown on a massive barricade, including Gavroche (Daniel Huttlestone), Eponine (Samantha Barks), and Enjolras (Aaron Tveit).

Factual error: In the scene where Javert commits suicide, you can see the back side of Notre Dame in the background. However the river Seine does not flow in the direction as shown in the following scenes. The river Seine flows from the east to the west in Paris, not the other way round.
