Thief ending / spoiler
Threatened by Leo (Robert Prosky), Frank (James Caan) is left with nothing to lose. After he has Jessie (Tuesday Weld) and their child taken to an unknown safe haven, he destroys all of his businesses, and anything Leo has ever given him. He then breaks into Leo's house, kills him, and survives a shootout with his men, outside. Wounded, Frank walks into the night, back into the harsh life with which he first began.
