Life is Beautiful ending / spoiler
a few days before the end of the war, The Nazis liquidate the concentration camp in which Guido and his son stay. Guido orders his son to hide in a nearby locker while he sets out, dressed as a woman, to find his wife. He fails to find her after avoiding all the Nazis around, but as he comes back, he's discovered by a soldier and led to a nearby alley. When they pass the Locker in which Guido's son hides, Guido does a funny walk to raise his son's moral. The soldier leads Guido around the corner. after a long pause, shots are fired. Guido is executed moments before the Nazis leave the camp. At dawn, Guido's son exits his hideout to witness an Allied tank, what he believes to be the prize of the game, drives through the camp. The American soldiers lift him up and they drive through the mountain - untill Guido's son sees his mother. They go and hug. The son, now an adult, narrates: "This is the sacrifice my father made for me."
