The Mist ending / spoiler
Mrs. Carmody is shot and killed by Ollie, after an attempt to get her followers to sacrifice David´s son and stop the one´s who wish to leave from doing so. Ollie, David & son, the blonde woman and the elderly couple tries to reach one of the cars in the parking lot. Ollie gets snatched by a monster and dies. The group then starts to drive, and on their way encounters an enormous six legged beast who passes by without harming them. Soon they run out of gas, and stranded in the middle of the road, without food or guns (except for a six-shooter), they decide to commit suicide. Davids son, who is sleeping during their discussion, is killed when he wakes up. David then kills the blond girl and the elderly couple, after which he runs out of bullets. Crushed he exits the car and screams for the monsters to kill him. He notices an army-vehicle approaching in the mist, full of evacuated survivors. Soon other cars follow, and loads of soldiers also. David falls to his knees, realizing the people in the car died in vain and he will have to live with having killed his son.
