30 Days of Night (2007) ending / spoiler
When it's almost sunrise and the town set ablaze by the vampires, Eben (Josh Hartnett) injects himself with vampire blood in order to become one of them, be stronger to fight the vampires and give time for Stella (Melissa George) to run away because she's surrounded by flames and vampires. Eben kills the vampire leader and the vampires leave town before sunrise. As the sun rises, Eben spends his last moments with Stella and dies.
